Ivanka Trump's coat

AutumnalLeafs · 02/02/2017 17:45

Can anyone identify this coat please? Bet it is uber-expensive. (I felt sorry for her having to walk across grass in those super spikey hells trotting alongside the mighty stride of the Donald)

OP posts:

But mezzanine, no one is going to see OP wearing this coat (if she buys it) and link it to Ivanka. It's irrelevant. OP wouldn't be endorsing Ivanka's fashion choices, but endorsing Altuzarra's design.

Maybe the OP should have edited the original pic so that the only the coat remained, and not mentioned Ivanka, then she would have just got a straight answer. Hmm

bingohandjob · 03/02/2017 22:05

It's the internet - opinions are like ars#holes - we've all got one.

I think it's interesting to hear different people's take on this.

KingMortificadosMistress · 03/02/2017 22:12

In the red corner, the rational sane people (with good taste in coats - at least on a side view).

In the blue corner... a load of people who should be rounded up in a holding pen for the Jeremy Kyle show.

RedDogsBeg · 03/02/2017 22:19

You should change your user name Mezzaninobssessed to Trumpobsessed.

You are missing the point - you personally do not get to dictate to users of MN:

What clothes worn by whom they ask about.
How people on MN react or feel about any of the Trumps (all that stuff about blackness on people who aren't immediately repulsed by them).

Buying a coat/hat/bag/shoes or dress worn by a particular person in no way endorses anything about that person other than you like the particular item. The person has showcased the item but the purchase does not benefit them, it benefits the designer.

KingMortificadosMistress · 03/02/2017 22:19

I am sure a man like him will be very happy to see Ivanka's dress choices approved publicly.
Do you really think he deserves this satisfaction?

You really are obsessed aren't you? WHAT ABOUT THE DESIGNER????

So your obsessional inarticulate hatred of Donald Trump is more important than the fact someone here thought a particular garment - created by someone totally unconnected to Trump and worn by someone not Trump - was beautiful and wanted to know who created it? What about that business? They don't deserve any credit or a possible additional sale merely because a person they have no control over wore their garment.

You are totally out of your tree, off your head, crackers.

If you were right, a great designer could be put out of business because their clothes should be boycotted if they were seized upon by Trump/Hitler/Eva Braun/Sadam Hussein - even without their consent.

bingohandjob · 03/02/2017 22:21

And in the middle, a load of people just expressing an opinion on the internet without resorting to snarking about Jeremy Kyle and holding pens. Grin

KingMortificadosMistress · 03/02/2017 22:21

Seriously, apply to go on the Jeremy Kyle show. Right up your street.

vengabus · 03/02/2017 22:21

We appear to be glossing over the fact that the coat is ugly as fuck.

KingMortificadosMistress · 03/02/2017 22:27

We appear to be glossing over the fact that the coat is ugly as fuck.

No we aren't! I said "good taste in coats - at least on a side view"!!! And the OP further up said (in response to another poster saying ok from the side, rucksack look from the front) that the linked frontal picture was no good - which got the "saved £3k" response.

The OP link to the side view is a beautiful coat. The frontal view not so much. I like the dress though by the same designer.

bingohandjob · 03/02/2017 22:27

I'll see you there then, yeah? Please don't throw a chair at me if I have a different opinion to yours.

(It's not that great a coat. It's no "Hush ruched skirt".)

vengabus · 03/02/2017 22:30

king Most of these posts are about 'politics'. Not the fugly coat. which is minging

KingMortificadosMistress · 03/02/2017 22:31

No Bingo you won't see me there. It's reserved for the irrational blinkered obsessives of marginal intelligence of which I am not one.

bingohandjob · 03/02/2017 22:32

You should buy the coat.

KingMortificadosMistress · 03/02/2017 22:34

Venga - I think that's rather the point.

OP asks question about coat designer.
Irrational pile on about fact question is a disgrace and should not be answered given identity of coat wearer.
Responses to why that is illogical.

Separately someone tells OP who designed coat. Someone points out front view not good. OP agrees. Coat part closed.

Continued ranting about Trump.

Mezzanineobssessed · 03/02/2017 22:37

No one needs to boycott designers because Ivanka wore them? When did I say that? I said do not highlight her fashion picks/choices/name.
if so many of you can actually respond like this, no wonder he is the president now.
Mind boggles.

Mezzanineobssessed · 03/02/2017 22:39

KingMortificadosMistress
I think you will find that so long as any post with his name keeps popping up in "Active" section, someone as mental as me would keep popping up to disturb the party.

OneWithTheForce · 03/02/2017 22:40

Grin what a hilarious thread. All over an ugly coat! MN is a parallel universe sometimes.

KingMortificadosMistress · 03/02/2017 22:41

You said:

if people follow her dressing, it gives them what they want, no matter how indirectly.

"No matter how indirectly" - so a designer is favoured by one of the Trumps - according to you even indirectly supporting that designer gives them what they want. So what's your solution then? Sounds very close to boycotting to me. Plus not just you - the Eva Braun posters seemed to be suggesting the same thing.

It's illogical.

Mezzanineobssessed · 03/02/2017 22:43

one
I am hardly resisting using that grin myself Grin i know this is bizarre

Mezzanineobssessed · 03/02/2017 22:46

I like it when they print Kate's dresses with the names of the designers there.
Imagine a world where designers try their best to avoid getting a Trump tag. That would be helpful. At least don't ask it in a thread with the title containing the name.

bingohandjob · 03/02/2017 22:49

On the matter of coats, I'm surprised this isn't in the bargain bin yet

ageingrunner · 03/02/2017 22:51

Whoever designed the coat is probably burning all remaining stock and quietly renaming their company to try and shake off the association with fascists

RedDogsBeg · 03/02/2017 22:55

You are asking people to boycott designers of any clothes worn by Ivanka Mezzanine as you:

Don't want anyone to ask who a particular item worn by her was designed by, but unless people know who designed it they will be unable to buy it.

Don't want people to like/buy anything she has showcased because in your head than means people like and agree with her father.

MN certainly is a parallel universe these days.

RedDogsBeg · 03/02/2017 22:59

At least don't ask it in a thread with the title containing the name. Why ever not? Does a curse fall upon anyone who dare mention the Trump name? Is it like 'The Scottish Play'?

KingMortificadosMistress · 03/02/2017 23:01

Whoever designed the coat is probably burning all remaining stock and quietly renaming their company to try and shake off the association with fascists

I doubt it. Publicity for designers is a good thing for them. The OP found a dress by the same designer she liked further up thread. Personally I'd never heard of Altuzarra before this thread and having done a bit of googling some of his stuff is beautiful. Beyond my budget mostly but there will be plenty of people who both like it and can afford it.

It's really hard trying to run a design business or any kind of creative business and all publicity is good publicity in reality.
