Stropps - I think you have to wait this one out. She may have been out on the razz and be sleeping.

BeachysSnowyWellieBoots · 28/01/2017 16:51

Ok, I'm glad they have an emergency number. If you don't hear back by 5.30pm, I would ring again. They won't mind.

I don't think dd1 knows anyone there or otherwise I'd get her to rustle a friend of a friend to investigate.

Is she on Instagram or Snapchat?

Lalsy · 28/01/2017 16:56

I agree with Beachy. I would ring again. I hope you hear soon.

Stropperella · 28/01/2017 17:10

Am in the middle of Tesco and suddenly remembered name of another friend that I've seen on FB. Messaged her via Fb and dd is with her. Friend messaged back straightaway to let me know and gave me her number to call. Dd is not the full ticket, but is at least alive and I have told her to get to ooh doc as leg is still a mess. She says she wants me to go on Thurs.

Ffs. My blood pressure. I nearly cried with relief when I spoke to her, and she apologised. Her phone charger appears to be broken. Christ, my head. It really hurts.

I wasn't going to buy any booze, but I may have just changed my mind.

NUFC69 · 28/01/2017 17:14

Oh, Stropps, so pleased that you have managed to contact DD (although I would like to strangle her for the stress she has caused you). FlowersWine

bigTillyMint · 28/01/2017 17:16

Oh God, Stropps. So sorry you have had to go through this, but glad you got hold of her. And that she has a nice friend WineFlowers

MontserratCaballe · 28/01/2017 17:19

Stropps, sending you a huge hug. So glad you have raised her. Hope you are home and cracking into a glass of something. Don't make any decisions about Thursday today. Just concentrate on fact she is ok and trying to get a bit of rest in. You have had a Herculean week as it is without the added frisson of dd troubles. Take it easy. Much love.

BeachysSnowyWellieBoots · 28/01/2017 17:22

Phew and well done you for remembering.

You want to wring their necks sometimes in a loving sort of way Grin

Lalsy · 28/01/2017 17:23

Thank goodness - and hurrah for nice, sensible friend. Flowers

Blackduck · 28/01/2017 17:27

Stropps what a relief.

hattymattie · 28/01/2017 17:29

Stropps - just checked in to see if yoi made contact - so relieved for you.

In other news DD2 has secured a 3 story Victorian townhouse in the centre of York that I wouldnt mind living in myself! Now she's happy she's not in uni in London.

Lalsy · 28/01/2017 17:34

Phew, Hatty! dd has a nice house this year - it has made such a difference --compared with the dank dark slug infested place she had last year.

LOVELY to see WAF and BTM in BP.

Stropperella · 28/01/2017 17:44

Have just got in and have put beer in the freezer. Think my headache is not just down to dd and no sleep but also something weird that the chiropractor did to my back and neck yesterday.

Thanks for holding my hand, Squad. Smile

Stropperella · 28/01/2017 17:53

Glad to hear the BP walk went well.
And hooray for nice house for dd, Hattie.

Have located frozen insulated beer glass and am now enjoying a fruity pint. I think my headache is receding. And dh has cleaned the bathroom. See, now I have 3 positive things! What a difference from an hour ago.

wordassociationfootball · 28/01/2017 17:56

Oh Stroppy your teeth must be cracking under the strain.

Praise be too for Mini Squad of Lalsy and BTM who each had a brilliant idea for a solid thing I could do on two different hand wringing situations. We belted along in BP, they should have had us attached to the National Grid.

motherinferior · 28/01/2017 18:23

Hurrah for Squads and Squadettes. Stropps, phew but also Angry.

motherinferior · 28/01/2017 18:24

Shall I thank DD1 for the Squad wordGrin?

CointreauVersial · 28/01/2017 18:35

Goodness, Strops - does the worry ever end? It might be worth "cultivating" this particular FB friend, if she can tip you the wink if DD is falling off the wagon health-wise.

BP walk sound like it was bracing and restorative! We've been mostly walking around car showrooms. I'm bewildered by choice, although I did fall for a bright orange Yaris with all the bells and whistles (costing about double what I have to spend).

Slug-infested student hovels are surely a rite-of-passage? I lived in a delightful place in my 3rd year (with our mutual friend, MI) which had a very sluggy basement kitchen. When we went home for Christmas we sprinkled slug pellets all over the floor, and came back in the new year to find twenty-six rock-hard slug carcasses welded to the floor. Bleurgh.

I dunno, CV, it was pretty cheerless really. They seem to work much harder than we did (just my impression) - dd likes coming home to a kitchen table, proper lighting and no squelching.

BTM and WAF, I have now to wash up every kitchen implement I own - but the lasagna is smelling good and I may not need a complete change of clothes as the white sauce mostly stayed in the pan. Am ravenous, and reminded why i didn't pursue a lab career for the public good.

bigTillyMint · 28/01/2017 19:11

Lovely mini MU this afternoon, then back to reality with a bang. But DH and I off out with friends shortly - I will be consuming my bodyweight in alcohol.

Lalsy, result re not needing a change of clothes. And WAF, glad we could be (hopefully) of help.

CointreauVersial · 28/01/2017 19:26

Lalsy - it wouldn't be difficult to work harder than I did. Blush

DS has decided he's like to go to Uni "just for the first few weeks of parties", and then drop out before the hard work begins. Errr, that'll be a No. At the rate he's going he'll be lucky to make it to the end of A levels. He has assessment exams starting this week, and I've seen virtually no signs of revision.

Have a nice evening out, BTM. Wine

I have a lovely traybake in the oven. What's the betting no-one will be hungry after an afternoon of snacking?

Heavens Stropps what an absolute mare. I'm so relieved for you to have found the friend who actually replied. I hope said friend can get DD to ooh doctor. Flowers I hope the headache starts to ease too. Xx

Pleasant day and evening at this end but I have to say I found the movie, Jackie slow and dare I say it....a smidge boring Blush. Favourite Chinese restaurant was its usual consistent yummy self...and now I can't move.

MrsSchadenfreude · 28/01/2017 23:35

Oh God, Stropps, that sounds an utter nightmare. But at least DD's friend came up trumps. Can we still say that?

Had lovely day out today with friends over from the US. Will have to go shopping tomorrow as there really is no food in the house now.

Auriga · 29/01/2017 00:08

Rose, forgot to ask, what did you think of Wild Honey?

Stropps, phew. Sorry she put you through that but still phew. Hope you can unwind a bit now.

hattymattie · 29/01/2017 09:28

Lovely evening at friends last night - she has a living room straight out of Homes and Gardens. I think DH might finally be inspired into doing some deco (or getting somebody into doing some deco).
