Show me your eternity ring!

I am getting an eternity ring for a significant anniversary soon but can't quite decide what I want. I have size i ring fingers and anything too wide looks daft-especially the full eternity rings or even the half (7stone) ones, so was thinking maybe a 5 stone one? In platinum or white gold but can't find anything exactly right.

I like this picture but it's an American site and made of zirconia anyway.

Do you have a beautiful eternity ring for me to look at? Do you love it??

firsttimemum15 · 23/01/2017 18:57

Mine was a gift for Christmas after the birth of DD1, a lovely surprise! Platinum with 9 small diamonds, curved so it fits with my wedding ring, which in turn is shaped to fit with the engagement ring. I wear them all together every day, they're not too bulky.

NotMore
I looked up his website.
Beautiful rings but no prices.
Are diamonds cheaper in US or UK ?

NotMoreFootball · 23/01/2017 20:50

hollyisalovelyname I live in the US so I'm not really familiar with U.K. diamond prices, my husband bought it as a surprise but from looking at similar rings I think it would have cost somewhere between $5000 and $6000 here. It's white gold and nearly 2 carats, hopefully that'll help you compare to U.K. prices!

Millicent99 · 23/01/2017 20:58

Letseatgrandma (love your username!) thank you. It's from Steven kirsch in New York. I pretty sure they do ship to the uk. Diamonds do generally tend to be cheaper in the US. The jewellers I have bought from don't have stores so have no high rental costs etc and I believe this is one of the reasons.

KenDoddsDadsDog · 23/01/2017 21:00

I've a halo eternity from Astley Clarke www.astleyclarke.com/uk/diamond-full-eternity-ring-in-14ct-white-gold-d28775
It's skinny so it goes with my other rings.

DH has bought me this one...

It should be arriving in a few days, I am very excited!!! I needed something slim as I already have two eternity rings plus my engagement and wedding rings on one finger so could only fit one more small one and still be able to bend my knuckle - knew my long fingers would come in useful for something Grin

LoupGarou · 23/01/2017 23:40

kendodd those are some very beautiful rings, really lovely design.

hollyisalovelyname · 23/01/2017 23:42

NotMore thank you.

SmartyPants0 · 28/01/2017 21:55

Millicent99 your ring is very simple and stunning. Its what I would of chosen for myself. Fiancé brought me a eternity ring as a suprise which I love but wouldn't have been my first choice... we've been engaged 7 years and haven't got round to getting married due to logistics and kids...

KenDoddsDadsDog · 28/01/2017 22:08

Thanks Loop - the flat setting means I'm less likely to break it as I'm very clumsy !

mineallmine · 28/01/2017 22:50

Here's mine, worn on my right hand. It's platinum and was bought in New York for my 10th wedding anniversary. It's the most beautiful thing I own and I love to look at it. Ignore my neglected looking hands.

Here is mine. 1ct rub over setting in 18ct yellow gold. Shown next to my wedding band and a mock up of my new engagement ring which is an asscher cut flawless diamond. I had it set in yellow gold and with a plain gold band the width of my wedding ring. I usually wear my eternity ring on my right hand!

Thanks to this thread I realise I have spent the past 20 or so years thinking an 'eternity' ring was (somehow) one of those rings where the word was spelt out by the names of the jewels, but I was thinking of 'DEAREST' and 'REGARDS' rings like in page 14 of this here Argos catalogue from 1991! issuu.com/retromash/docs/argos-no36-1991-autumnwinter

I feel a bit daft now... Grin

rollonthesummer · 29/01/2017 10:37

mock up of my new engagement ring

Are you having a new engagement ring made because you have lost the original? Apologies for the hugely nosy question!!

oleoleoleole · 29/01/2017 18:08

Roll on - yes!

rollonthesummer · 29/01/2017 20:23

Oh no-that's a shame! I hate losing things.

Well, a bit of an update. I chose a ring a week ago which we both loved. It's a platinum bar set eternity with 7 stones, but we decided-on advice of the jeweller-to remove two of the diamonds as 7 stones were too wide for my finger, and resize it down to an i.

We went to get it yesterday and were really disappointed Blush. When it was resized, the ring looked really squashed-almost oval! He said that because of the setting, the stones couldn't be bent so the front had to stay straight and it just looked horrid. I queried it in the shop and he said that because of the setting, it had to be like that and the ring wouldn't be round for the size of my finger!! I feel like they should have said that BEFORE suggesting this was a good idea! The ring also wasn't symmetrical and looked misshapen.

The jeweller had a proper look at it and luckily agreed and is going to reset the diamonds in a whole new band for us.

I am pleased, but slightly nervous because it seemed such a bodge job last time. I thought the jeweller I spoke to was doing it himself but it seems that it was sent to a workshop. It's a reputable local independent jewellers-they've been in the town for over 100 years. What if they cock it up again?! Sad.

Rings should at least be symmetrical and round, shouldn't they?! For £1k!

Aderyn2016 · 29/01/2017 20:30

Don't feel that you have to accept anything that you are not 100% happy with, or it will annoy you every time you look at it, instead of being something that brings you joy!

It certainly is possible to have a round, symmetrical diamond ring for that money and don't let the jeweller bullshit tell you otherwise.

firsttimemum15 · 29/01/2017 20:39

Dont go with it if youre not happy

rollonthesummer · 29/01/2017 20:46

Well, I hope it will all be ok Confused otherwise I suppose we will have to fight for our money back?!

Loup that ring is gorgeous, am looking for something similar so would love to see some pictures of it when it arrives. Like you am hoping to get something to wear with other rings so keen to see how it looks 'stacked' so to speak Smile
