I hate it - DS loves Thomas Tank things and I buy him the tops to wear to nursery and Jamas but wouldn;t let him wear it when he is out with me - DD also only gets to wear character things o her dads whcih she thinks is really awful as would love to dress head to toe in barbie or god forbid Brats clothing.

Just a personal thing I think - like I would never wear clothing with a label on it.

schneebly · 19/02/2007 11:45

tutter? is that all you have to say?

My ds adores his spiderman t-shirt and I remember being little and having a she-ra jumper - I was so happy!

all i will say is i have such a sense of dread when i realise the ILs have bought ds yet another item of clothing

yaddayah · 19/02/2007 11:48

praise be .. i just posted shamefacedly on the half mast trousers debate .. my ds (5) loves his spiderman tops and (shudder) belt

i must admit barbie tops for my dd (2) have been banned, but as long as she's in pink she cares not a jot

madmarchhare · 19/02/2007 11:49

Bob the Builder and Thomas worn by DS1(2) and his cast off's will be DS2's(6mths). DS2 also has some Tigger bits of clothing - previously DS1's.
My niece has loads of Dora clothing, she's 2.

I don't see a problem whilst thy're still young though.

Hulababy · 19/02/2007 11:53

DD has the odd bit of character clothes - socks and pants, nightwear and also a couple of t shirts she wears with jeans. DD is nearly 5, so why not? It's her clothes not mone. I don't want her dressed like a mini grown up but as a child. If we are going out somewhere proper than yes, I dress her in something else - but for playing with friends I don't care!

northerner · 19/02/2007 11:53

I had a reversible dalmation sweater and Kermit the fRog dungarees, and more embarrasing at about 13 ish I lived in Flintstone jeans, oh the shame.....

ShinyHappyPeopleHoldingHands · 19/02/2007 11:54

Schneebly, you just have to don your Loon Filter when you come on Mumsnet.. it's the only way. When I recently read a vitriol-filled thread on the "terrible evils of fabric softener" and how awful it is when people smell of it (WTF??!) I finally realised that altho MN is great for giving/receiving genuine advice, you really have to learn to screen out the personal opinions on some of the somewhat less important issues or you would never buy ANYTHING processed EVER, in fact you'd never buy anything.. you'd sit and home weaving everything out of your own ego!

Hulababy · 19/02/2007 11:55

Ah, my reversible top - the one I remember most has Top Cat on one side - can't remember other side now!

northerner · 19/02/2007 11:55

Probably lots of little top cats Hula! That seems to be the general theme.....

schneebly · 19/02/2007 11:56
