I only really have character socks, pants, pjs etc.

I got a scooby doo scarf/hat/glove set for ds but had to take it back. I couldn't bear it! Got a nice plain one instead.

He has a Power Ranger brolly though. And I don't mind duvet sets.

filthymindedvixen · 19/02/2007 12:29

I know Otter, and if you knew me you'd know I am not the cartoon type (I'm still trying to remind ,myself I'm too old to be a goth..
I knew I should have kept that to myself

filthymindedvixen · 19/02/2007 12:32

or were you expressing your opinions of character clothing in general?

bubblerock · 19/02/2007 12:33

Look you can get rainbow brite tshirts here lol

2nervesleft · 19/02/2007 12:34

Countess Dracula - Where did you get the Peppa Pig pyjamas from? Ds is obsessed with Peppa and George but I can't find any tops for boys, only girls. I don't mind him having pink pj's because they will make him sooo happpy.

ShinyHappyPeopleHoldingHands · 19/02/2007 12:36

Does it matter if you are not the cartoon type??? The clothes are to please our children surely??! They might be "cartoon types^! How these clothes be so sickening???!! There are plenty worse things to [vom] about in life.. sheesh!

OttergavebirthonValentines · 19/02/2007 12:37

I could stretch to some pants ( by that i mean in the english sense of the word) and infact my daughter does own a snoopy bra-top but a tiny snoopy on one corner of plain white cotton dontcha know

calm down shiny - I think she meant not the cartoon type to be buying HERSELF a spongey t-shirt

ShinyHappyPeopleHoldingHands · 19/02/2007 12:39

I think Bratz are pure freaks.. but DD (8) is hankering madly after a top with them on and if I can afford one soon will get her one because it will make her happy.

ledodgy · 19/02/2007 12:42

My dd and ds have character pjamas but that's about it. Personally I'm not fussed on character clothing but if either child was mad on a particular character I wouldn't mind buying them one or two. I'd sooner that than have them wear clothes with NEXT emblazoned on the front like alot of Next clothes. It pisses me off I have to buy clothes then give them free advertising!

Marina · 19/02/2007 12:47

Both dcs have gorgeous Tintin pyjamas from La Redoute, and ds has lovely bedlinen from their Tintin range too.
Not to mention dd's Charlie and Lola top, which has admiring comments wherever she goes. Character stuff can be pleasing to children and good quality IMO.

filthymindedvixen · 19/02/2007 16:43

fio and shiney, ffs, I meant I was not the cartoony type - ie I would not wear cartton stuff (I'm a middle-aged hippy for god's sake, i don't like pink and I think I'm too old for Betty Boob PJs! And to think I was confessing on a public forum to nearly buying a Spongebob T-shirt FOR MYSELF!!

sigh, if you read my post you'd see I was saying there was nowt wrong with cartoony stuff for kids.

And it was not me vomming at the idea of cartoon stuff for kids.

we try to stick to characters of pjs and socks, but the odd top wouldn't worry me and ds loves them

brimfull · 19/02/2007 16:46

ds loves his thunderbird t-shirts! They're children ...who cares as long as they're happy.

ShinyHappyPeopleHoldingHands · 19/02/2007 17:15

OK FMV, no need to shout at Fio.. I think I was the only one who vented about that. And I was repsonding to the thread in general not specifically about your comments.

LIZS · 19/02/2007 17:17

ggirl where do you find Thunderbirds stuff ? Not seen any for ages and ds has outgrown all his but still loves them !

colditz · 19/02/2007 17:19

When ds1 was 2, I barred them completely. Now way was My Boy, My Precious First Born, going to wear such inutterable tat.

He now has 2 Thomas bedspead things, Bob Pjs, Thomas Pjs, Thomas T-shirts, and if I could find a little Einstiens tshirt he'd have on of those too. He is 3.10.

It is when they are able to show such naked delight, and childish wonder that their favourite people in the whole world can be taken home on a t shirt, that's when I started to capitulate. He won't be wearing Thomas when he is 24.

Rantum · 19/02/2007 17:24

It is programmed into children to like tasteless c**p. The more garish the item, the better. So what? They have to grow up and become boring old fuddy duddies like us parents one day. In the meantime I rejoice in my son's inability to conform to social mores he simply doesnt care about (wish I could take the same approach!) - he likes Thomas, why not wear him on his socks?

filthymindedvixen · 19/02/2007 17:59

Sorry sorry, Fio! And Shiney, sorry, thought you were responding directly ro my post. I thought you were accusing me of being a snob.

You'll have to forgive me, I'm a little tetchy (stopped smoking recently and have substituted fags for knitting. Which I'm crap at. And I want to do this maude knitty thing. And I'm failing...)
