Scandinavian coats

CruCru · 10/11/2016 12:17

At the start of winter every year I start thinking about getting myself the sort of warm Scandinavian coat that they wear on Fortitude. Every year I decide that I probably don't need a coat that is good down to -32C.

However, I do rather like this. It is rather expensive but then, so are these.

Is there anything else I should look at? I'm thinking a proper, luxurious coat.

Looks as though that website may have been hacked.

I flinched at the price but I'd second the Didrikson. It's cut tall though I'm 5 11" and it fits perfectly but can handle freezing days (Scotland).

YouWereAlwaysPerfect · 21/11/2016 14:10

hollyisalovelyname I believe they are all waterproof, very good coats and come with a lifetime warranty Smile

rubybleu · 21/11/2016 16:35

YouWereAlwaysPerfect actually they're not waterproof. Mine (Trillium) is shower proof but definitely not rain proof.

YouWereAlwaysPerfect · 21/11/2016 17:17

rubybleu Sorry I've mixed up water resistant with waterproof Blush

hollyisalovelyname · 21/11/2016 17:49

Living in Ireland I need waterproof Smile

Cru I'm still looking at the Landsend ones you recommended for my commute which includes a long walk and public transport.

CruCru · 21/11/2016 22:12

I really like the one I bought. Am waiting for it to get cold again so I can wear it - it's a bit too warm for the current 13C.

If you do look in TK Maxx for didrikson coats I discovered today they've put them in ski wear section rather than with the other parka type coats. Annoyingly I didn't look in ski wear section when I was in a bigger TK Maxx on Monday!
Today they had two In, both red, both £99 and both size 14 . Wrong size for me but they did look nice and toasty.

Didriksons coats are like walking around in the cold in a hot water bottle. Worth every penny.

DamePlata · 23/11/2016 21:56

I find a North Face coat too warm if I have a cardigan under it too and it's not absolutely freezing. If it's not below 5 degrees then it's just not cold enough for that kind of coat. you will pass out!

dowser have you bought from that website before? It looks a bit dodge..as in bad translation, that combined with incredibly cheap prices makes me suspicious!

TheLobsterRollPlease · 24/11/2016 07:43

Dowser It is a fake site, you'll never find a CG coat for £150, CG do not have sales, sites like that lure people in with their cheap prices and steal their credit card information, if something seems to be too good to be true, 99% of the time it is Sad

squiz81 · 24/11/2016 10:35

I've reported dowsers post. They'd referred people to that dodgy website on another thread too.

TheLobsterRollPlease · 24/11/2016 13:18

squiz81 Good job, people do fall for those kind of sites that offer extremely low prices.

CruCru · 24/11/2016 14:20

It's so funny, since starting this thread, I keep seeing people wearing Canada Goose parkas. I wonder whether they've had them ages or have just spent a grand on them?

For the price they do last long, I've had mine for a year and it still looks brand new, I think it is getting more as a fashion thing, because this country is never ever going to get that cold, Canada Goose coats are made for -10 weather.

Hippywannabe · 24/11/2016 23:33

I love the twodanes site but I couldn't see where to order online. Am I being dense?
