Pale beyond belief

Any good suggestions for makeup for the ridiculously pale? I have red hair and almost translucent skin.

Illamasqua was cakey on me whether I used my fingers, a sponge, or a tippling brush. It's just too mask like for me.

MitzyLeFrouf · 11/10/2016 11:21

'stippling'

EnidButton · 11/10/2016 11:34

Mitzy Was it the skin base? I was looking at their other foundations but they looked thicker.

JaneKing · 11/10/2016 11:48

Lancôme tient miracle do a beautiful pale shade. It's really really lovely.

Canklesofglitter · 11/10/2016 12:14

I have ridiculously pale celtic skin and have found a decent match in Mac extra light prep and prime.

flippinada · 11/10/2016 12:23

Oh I had forgotten about the Hourglass foundation - I have the same one as Statistically. They do go very pale, the palest shade, Blanc, is practically white.

It is very expensive though and I don't like the texture (wasted my birthday money there but hey ho, you live and learn). Might be worth it for ultra pale folks who struggle to get a match though.

EnidButton · 11/10/2016 12:56

I bought the Hourglass vanish seamless stick, that all the bloggers were raving about, but the texture and finish was awful. Fantastic colour and actually a tiny bit too pale for me, which is unheard of, but so thick and waxy. Such a shame and yes, a lot of money to waste. I might try using it as a concealer perhaps.

flippinada · 11/10/2016 13:06

Yes, I found it very heavy and a bit claggy (tbf it is marketed as a full coverage foundation). I think it would be ok if you had dry skin and wanted a lot of coverage.

MinnieF1 · 11/10/2016 13:11

Make up forever ultra hd in Y205 alabaster is suuuuper pale.

Are you pink or yellow tones? Rimmel light porcelain is too pink for me and looks orange next to my neck. You might be best to get a foundation in the correct shade and mix it with the manic panic dreamtone foundation in white.

EnidButton · 11/10/2016 13:13

Flip I have combination skin that can't make its mind up what it is so maybe that was the problem. They're a great colour though.

flippinada · 11/10/2016 13:40

Me too Enid. Great colour but not good for skin with any trace of oiliness in, I think. I should have known better as I generally don't get on well with stick foundations but got caught up in the hype!

StatisticallyChallenged · 11/10/2016 15:18

The immaculate foundation is a liquid to powder and not thick or waxy at all- I have heard that about the stick though

EnidButton · 12/10/2016 13:07

Stat Think I'll take a look at some of their other foundations as I was so impressed with the colours. Will go to a counter and get samples this time instead of risking it by buying online like I did the vanish stick. I'm a terrible sucker for hype sometimes when it comes to beauty stuff. Blush

Cocolepew · 12/10/2016 16:02

Can I hijack and ask what blusher you palefaces use? My skin has yellow undertones is that warm or cool?

MitzyLeFrouf · 12/10/2016 16:03

Warm

ladyratterley · 12/10/2016 16:13

Lily Lolo mineral make up comes in a good range of shades and you can order tester pots to trial before you commit to buying a larger one.
I'm very pale and cool toned with dark hair. (when I was younger and needed more coverage for bad skin I used to use Mac NW15 I think) I use Lily Lolo China Doll which is perfect! They have a lighter one if you need "Porcelain"

Cocolepew · 12/10/2016 16:13

Thanks Mitzy

UncomfortableBadger · 12/10/2016 19:05

Fellow uber pale unicorn here - completely feel your pain.

A few that have worked for me in the past:
*Kryolan Ultra Cream Foundation in Deathly Flesh (no joke!) - am generally oily of face but this still has a beautiful finish (great in photos) and very decent staying power.
*L'Oreal Infallible in Porcelain - a little too pink but okay if I blend it a little down my neck.
*Rimmel Match Perfect in Porcelain - a tad too dark but the formulation is sheer enough that it doesn't notice.
*Bobbi Brown foundations (various) in Alabaster - I prefer the liquid formulations to the stick foundation. Fairly yellow undertones but I think that's the BB way
*Lily Lolo Mineral Foundations in Alabaster & China Doll - great if you're out in high humidity and long-wearing
*Golden Rose Stick Foundation in 01 - a recent find and only £6 on eBay (shipped from Bulgaria of all places!). Very fair and similar finish to my beloved Kryolan

For concealers:
*Nars Radiant Creamy Concealer in Chantilly - utterly lovely, generally neutral but leaning towards a yellow undertone.
*Amazing Cosmetics Concealer in Porcelain - fabulous undereye concealer as slightly peach toned and very pigmented. Too dark for me to use for spot concealing though.
*NYX HD Concealer in Alabaster - not quite as highly pigmented as Nars (thinner formula) but similar finish.
*Rimmel Stay Perfect Concealer in Porcelain - thick, heavy duty & with a yellow undertone.

Happy shopping!

Wow. Thanks for all of the responses. Hopefully I will be able to find something to suit my skin tone.

Uncomfortable Like the pale unicorn description. Grin I quite like a concealer with a slight yellow undertone as it can cancel out the redness a bit and good for under eyes. Agree that Amazing Cosmetics fair is a bit too peachy (is that the shade you meant?), good for under eyes still. I think they do a lighter shade but it doesn't seem to be available in the uk. Good stuff but need to extend their shade range.

FrustratedFrugal · 12/10/2016 20:41

Sorry about reposting this but another undead very pale-skinned person here (Lily Lolo China Doll and Porcelain are my favorite shades) - I am attaching swathes of my extensive collection of pale foundations. Korean BB creams are great, #13 is a really white-pale shade and #21 is my tanned shade Wink

The Missha 13 looks really good. Where do you buy that in the U.K.? Excellent search work btw. 👍🏻 Thank you.

EnidButton · 12/10/2016 21:44

Oh the Missha is the one Fid posted about on the previous page. Beauty Bay?

hollinhurst84 · 12/10/2016 21:46

eBay is good for Missha

BuntyFigglesworthSpiffington · 13/10/2016 10:24

I had the Missha one and the colour was good but it felt very wet on my skin and never seemed to set. And I've got quite dry skin.
