Pale beyond belief

Any good suggestions for makeup for the ridiculously pale? I have red hair and almost translucent skin.

Gosh foundation in porcelain works for me. I've also known people use Manic Panic dreamtone white as a mixer to get pale shades.

EnidButton · 10/10/2016 01:46

Illamasqua has by far the palest shades of foundation that I've found. They also do a pure white one which can be mixed with other foundations. I think the Body Shop do white drops to mix with foundations too. Bit of a faff though obviously. Definitely reccommend you take a look at illamasqua for foundation though. It's the only one I've ever found that is pale and neutral/cool toned enough. I use Skin base 02.

NARS radiant creamy concealer on light1 Chantilly is good.

For powder I always use translucent but the ones which look white in the pot. Translucent powders which look pale cream leave too much colour. The white ones just set your name up without adding any colour or any white. Currently using Eshiko ultra high definition powder. I think NYX do a similar and I also like Make Up Forever HD powder.

I'm cool toned, see through very pale.

Sorry for all the mistakes.^ Blush

Fuzzy I'm with you there. I'be often had to bow out of a thread when I realise the very pale posters are actually about 4 shades deeper than my skin tone.

Some great suggestions here. I'll look into them.

Where do people get these make ups from? Ideally I'd like to test them out before I buy them to make sure they match.

Selfridges have illamasqua and I think NARS. Tbh a lot of the time I've just looked at online swatches and tried to find beauty bloggers a similar colouring to me and just risked it. Not ideal though I agree. If you can get to a dept store then definitely get a few samples.

EnidButton · 10/10/2016 09:37

Risked it by buying online I mean. Cult Beauty, Feel Unique, Look Fantastic and Guru Emporium are all good sites outside of the department store ones or direct.

I have a warm undertone to my pale skin. I'm currently using a Benefit foundation which was recommended on here!

Laura mercier convert here after years of wearing mac (just felt it was quite
tried being colour
Matched for double base and they didn't do one pale enough.

shovetheholly · 10/10/2016 10:08

I think when you are really pale, it matters a lot whether you are a yellow-toned pale or a blue-pale.

I'm a blue pale, and the lightest bourgeois colour suits me. Healthy mix no 51, light vanilla. I think the very slightly yellow tone somehow balances something in my skin - it makes me look healthier anyway, and thus less likely that concerned passers by will stop me and ask me if I am feeling OK! Sorry OP, missed your question - it's their all in one colour adapting BB cream.

RollerDiscoQueen · 10/10/2016 11:04

Properly pale people can't wear Bourjois.

Illamsqua goes v pale but the texture is horrible. Really thick and cakey. Had high hopes for Charlotte Tilbury but although it was pale enough again it had a an awful texture. Streaky and shiny.

Have a look at Burberry. Their makeup is excellent but doesn't seem to have much of a following. Excellent foundations for the very pale.

shovetheholly · 10/10/2016 11:07

I am properly pale - really, really white. I make people who say they are pale look positively tanned. We do the arm comparison thing and then they say "Blimey, I thought I was the whitest person on earth until I met you". Grin

When I was in China, children called me a 'ghost girl' and were a bit afraid.

Fuzzypeggy · 10/10/2016 11:41

Enidbutton yes! I once had a colleague who told me she was so pale that she hated her skin. She wasn't pale at all, her skin was at least 8 shades darker than mine, Although i really have pretty much no pigment at all.

MAC. Try NC15 or NW15 depending on whether you're warm or cool toned (suspect you're cool in which case try NW). Also try MAC face and body in N1. They also do a white (pure) foundation in Face & Body too so you can make it even paler without losing consistency and nature.

Other than that I'd recommend Korean CC or BB cream as PP have suggested. Now that's seriously pale. The Mischa is amazing (No1) with a beautiful creamy texture with very good coverage. It's too grey-based for my (warm) skin but should be fine for you.

Nocola Roberts (Girls Aloud did a range too but I haven't tried that and I'm not sure who makes it).

This is me wearing the dollish bb cream

LabradorMama · 10/10/2016 14:40

The Nicola Roberts range is called Dainty Doll and has good reviews, though I've never tried it.

Fuzzypeggy · 10/10/2016 14:42

Dainty doll was discontinued, which was a shame as I quite liked it

Pixi DD can hide in a piece of photocopy paper she's so white. Pixi is the only thing that she can use that covers spots and still looks right

Another pricy suggestion is Hourglass- I am very pale but cool toned and their immaculate foundation in vanilla is my favourite. I've also got lancome tient idole 24hr in 005, ysl touche eclat in the lightest bring colour, the urban decay all nighter in 0.5 and Nars sheer glow. Unfortunately I don't get on with mineral foundations, they just don't work for me.

EnidButton · 11/10/2016 11:18

The illamasqua skin base is cakes if you later it on but applied with a stippling brush (real techniques one) sheerly it works well and there's no cakey-ness. I'm willing to put up with the extra effort because of the colour match being so good but still hunting for the perfect colour, formulation combo.

Glad more brands are bringing out a wider range of shades now but wish more would get on board. Both the paler colours and darker colours are so often left out.

EnidButton · 11/10/2016 11:18

Cakey, layer
