WWW's six week 10 year younger boot camp, WEEK FIVE

WideWebWitch · 29/01/2007 07:26

This is WEEK FIVE. I slacked last week as did many others, so let's start again!

The rules:

This is about feeling better about yourself...not necessarily a diet per se etc etc

The Rules:

  • Sunscreen at all times. I know it's winter, there are still rays trying to damage your skin
  • No or little booze. The odd glass of wine at the weekend is allowed if you want it
  • Walking is important, a small amount every day if possible. 30 mins if you can, I am booking out lunch hours where possible to do this
  • Lots of water, aim for 2 litres a day
  • Apply body cream as often as possible. I am doing my heels daily too as they're lizard like
  • Use hand cream
  • Go to bed early, by 10.30pm if pos
  • Eat healthily
  • Be happy

The idea is that at the end of six weeks we all feel happier, healthier and glow with the good food, sleep, exercise, water and lack of sun damage.

You don't have to report back every day but I almost certainly will as it motivates me thinking someone is watching me.

Welcome all members old and new.

Yesterday was not good. Not enough of anything good & crumpets & flapjack BUT I did do a lot of gardening (which counts as exercise in my book) and I felt relaxed and happy.

Got on scales this morning and I've now lost 6lbs since we started this

Today is another week batters and I have already stuffed up

Works meeting involving buffet style lunch today and by the time I got to the buffet there was virtually nothing left so I had a chocolate chip muffin. However, what worried me is that I ate it without thinking about it all. Not a moments consideration. For that I am

Will be extra good this week now as I don't want to undo all the good work.

WideWebWitch · 29/01/2007 14:25

Ah Batters, I remedied that problem in my house by drinking the Chablis that was in the fridge last night. I may not drink this Friday to make up for it.

Today
2 pieces wholemeal toast but with thick butter BAD. Dh knows I just cannot resist it if it's in the house but sometimes he buys it and I can't help myself
100g lentils with prawns, garlic, chilli, lime juice and a tiny bit of sesame oil, it was lovely
an apple
2 mini eggs, 30 cals and they're all gorn now
and sicknote ds and I just walked for half an hour and I wore sunscreen
Used body lotion this morning too

Feel rubbish for crap food/late nights/too much wine at weekend but hey,

Remember this little maxim and I think we can all identify with this

Have not lost an ounce yet so am obviously over-indulging as soon as the w/e hits. I am doing lots of the "good for me" stuff but must try harder on the cals in/cals out equation.

swedishmum · 29/01/2007 14:53

I had prawns for lunch too - with chili and coriander and salad. Mushrooms for breakfast. All I'm falling down on is the wine. Must pracise saying no ready for when dh asks if I want a glass of Rioja! 2 weeks till holiday with PILs and MIL is very glam so will increase my effort. Still a horribly long way to go for me I'm afraid. Got rid of loads of loose clothes today so there's no going back....

Oati · 29/01/2007 14:54

I had a nice healthy home made soup for lunch (lamb, leek and potato)

and went for a 30 min bike ride

winnie · 30/01/2007 09:14

yesterday went from bad to worse and has made me realise how well organised I need to be.

But today is another day and it will be a good one in line with the boot camp

Oh winnie, what's up, anything we can do? I haven't read your other thread but sorry if life's rubbish atm.

Last night we had sea bass with salsa verde, VERY nice but fattening, loads of olive oil in the salsa

today
granola
apple
grapes
smoked salmon and prawns
another apple
a few Maltesters
2 litres water
walked 30 mins at lunchtime, wearing sunscreen
and had a reasonably early night last night but have a cold today so feel rough.
We are having M&S lamb from their Cook range tonight with spinach and broccoli and Cava

But my interview for tomorrow got cancelled so I have an unexpected day off WITH CHILDCARE! so have bought loads of mags and a big box of tissues and will loll in bed with laptop, mags and books. Bliss.

Enjoy your day WWW.
Hope you are OK Winnie - I haven't seen your other thread either.

Had lovely home made organic chicken and veg soup for tea, so quite good day. Off for a bath and cream now.

Batters - maybe tomorrow the skin will be glowing...

WideWebWitch · 30/01/2007 19:29

Well done on bike ride Oati. me too yoyo on cals in and out ratio. Swedishmum, prawns sound lovely. Batters, my skin looks awful too but overall I look better I think, despite it. I look healthier. And I mostly feel it. Having a cold is rubbish, very irritating.

there is no part of my body that doesn't ache at the mo.

this is a direct result of tennis in Sunday, bike-riding yesterday and Pilates today.

dh said unsympathtically 'no pain no gain' so I must be doing really well

I may not be walking tomorrow

Aha, here you all are. I couldn't find you.

I've been very good, still going to the gym and eating healthily. I feel loads better and have now lost 8lb.

This week I'm going to try to find some oolong tea, which raises your metabolism even faster than green tea (I read the research papers for verification).

I also read an article last week about how 20 minutes of relaxation per day can have dramatic anti-ageing effects. The theory is that stress ages us - look at before pictures of Tony Blair & Bill Clinton - yes, that convinced me too - and so reducing stress reduces the effects of ageing.

So, I'm adding in relaxation to the mix. I'm going to try to go some reflexology & massage this week, back in my lovely little Chinese massage place.

I'm still trying to find a goji shot, just for you WWW. Unfortunately my local wheatgrass and goji supplier puts caffeine in his goji shots. Tsk.

Right. I'm off to do some work but in a relaxing way.

WideWebWitch · 31/01/2007 07:05

My cold is streaming and I feel rubbish. Drank wine last night but will go back to sleep once children packed off to school/nursery.

I should walk for at least an hour today to make up for last night but don't know if I can face it, I feel so rubbish. Have no desire to eat at all though as I can't taste anything so there's a slight upside.

I can believe that re relaxation Arfy, will take it on board.

We are very depleted aren't we? Hmmm.

OP posts:
Oati · 31/01/2007 09:18

you need a hot toddy not wine WWW.

Today I will NOT be exercising I will be drinking coffee with my mates - gotta give my muscles a chance to recover

ands I have a cold too, but only a little one ( unlike the 3 week effort that I had at the beginning of the year)

I walked for 2 miles straight after dropping ds at school! It's a lovely day, bright and crisp. And I used sunscreen

Granola,
packet of Wotsits
grapes
blueberries
so far
and now will take myself off to bed and post from there I think!

OP posts:
yoyo · 31/01/2007 17:01

Going down with a cold so do not have a desire to snack today. Food intake as a result has been excellent! Will also be having an early night as I feel very tired and just want a good night's sleep. Walked to and from school twice though and have been busy doing stuff in the house so a fairly active day. Hope it is as sunny tomorrow as it does lift your spirits I find.

WideWebWitch · 31/01/2007 17:06

Well done Yoyo! sorry to hear about cold though, rubbish isn't it? My bed is littered with tissues. Benelyn day and night tablets are v good for getting you through the day.

I had a yellow pepper, hummus, beetroot for lunch and some more grapes this afternoon. Not doing well on water front, must drink more. We're having burgers for supper (organic) with peas.

OP posts:
yoyo · 31/01/2007 17:10

I'm only at the throaty, headachy stage so no tissue mountain yet! Got a babysitter booked for a big meal with friends on Friday too. At least I will be good...

Beef casserole for us tonight but will have a titchy plate just to encourage the children to eat theirs.
