WWW's six week 10 year younger boot camp, WEEK FIVE

WideWebWitch · 29/01/2007 07:26

This is WEEK FIVE. I slacked last week as did many others, so let's start again!

The rules:

This is about feeling better about yourself...not necessarily a diet per se etc etc

The Rules:

  • Sunscreen at all times. I know it's winter, there are still rays trying to damage your skin
  • No or little booze. The odd glass of wine at the weekend is allowed if you want it
  • Walking is important, a small amount every day if possible. 30 mins if you can, I am booking out lunch hours where possible to do this
  • Lots of water, aim for 2 litres a day
  • Apply body cream as often as possible. I am doing my heels daily too as they're lizard like
  • Use hand cream
  • Go to bed early, by 10.30pm if pos
  • Eat healthily
  • Be happy

The idea is that at the end of six weeks we all feel happier, healthier and glow with the good food, sleep, exercise, water and lack of sun damage.

You don't have to report back every day but I almost certainly will as it motivates me thinking someone is watching me.

Welcome all members old and new.

Yes, it is evil, I admit, and as I pressed post I realised that it would come back to haunt me. Perhaps not quite as quickly as the very next post mind you. I think I will just pretend I put it in to see how much everybody is paying attention. Yes. That's right. Well done.

If I were in the UK I'd get butter buds instead. I just take what I can get here, where supermarkets tend to be smaller than the M&S at waterloo stn. I suppose putting some olive oil into an atomiser might be ok?

Shopping is exercise. Weightwatchers says so. The more bags the better.

swedishmum · 02/02/2007 10:23

Thanks for snack ideas Arfishy. I have some evil One Cal - I reckon that as everything else I'm eating is pretty healthy it won't do me much harm. Actually, I'm also getting used to low calorie salad dressings. Much as I like it I can only take so much balsamic vinegar. I did BoogieBeebies yesterday and today - does that count as exercise?

I have one cal in my cupboard too but have hardly ever used it

So Batters, is the Cava in the fridge? Will you drink tonight?

Arfy, what are butter buds? The echinacea is for my cold and I have to say it's nearly gone. I've still got a cough but I feel 10x better than I did on Wednesday so that's a quick result imo. Although I've been eating lots of vit c and stuff so that's probably helped. Me too on the milk thistle.

Swedishmum, I reckon boogiebeebies counts, glad this is helping. (whaddawe whaddawe, whaddawe wanne be: fit, fit fit! going through my head now plus do do do do do the Ocean Motion)

Last night we had Jamie Oliver's cod roasted with green beans, olive oil, garlic, pine nuts and lemon and it was gorgeous although prob too much olive oil. Oh well.

Today, an ok day
Granola
grapes
blueberries
an M&M crayfish and rocket sandwich (360 cals)
4 Lockets for my cough
lots of water
walked, prob 25 mins, with sunscreen
and used body lotion all over this morning and hand cream during the day

And got my glasses fixed at long last so that's a relief, I haven't been wearing them for ages and although my eyes aren't that bad it is better typing here with them, I have to say.

There is cold white wine in the fridge and I'm very tempted but even if I do won't until the children are in bed, hmmm, really not sure whether I want a glass of wine or not, now THAT'S a result! Maybe I am slightly getting out of the habit. Bloody hell!

Batters, Calories in PE A Margherita is only about 500 cals so not bad at all but look, a Capricciosa Pizza Express is 900!

Well done on not drinking last night, you def deserve Cava tonight!

Morning all! As it is now nearly 9pm I confess to a glass of wine. Just a teensy tiny one. OK 3, but 3 of these go into a normal size class, these are about 75ml, so not too bad honest guv.

WWW - butter buds are miraculous. They're from the lovely lakeland people and give you a full buttery taste for no cals. You aren't allowed to import them to Australia .

Butter Buds

There's been an embargo on Prawn Cocktail crisps for ages - they think there's real seafood in them. Guffaws.

Batters - yep, it can be our guilty secret . It does make a difference and I don't think a couple of sprays on some veg are going to cause a coronary meltdown.

WWW - I left my glasses in the UK. And haven't replaced them. How vain is that?

Getting back to the point, today I had:

2 weetbix with skim (yes, weetAbix with SkimMED milk for the rest of us)
Fruit Salad
Several cups of earl grey (not green or oolong - must try harder)
Crudites with skinny hummus
1 tiny wholemeal roll with skinny philly
225ml wine, one big glass, but drinking it out of one tiny glass made it feel much more (will remember this)
Barbequed veg for dinner

Walked down to & on - just for you lot - the beach with DD twice but no big exercise. Unlike the rest of Sydney who were down there doing some complex all-day surfboard tag-team race thing. I slogged at the gym yesterday and I don't want Madonna sinews so I felt obliged to take it easy today.

Thanks for the info about the echinacea. Does it help ward off colds if you take it regularly? I'm thinking ahead to when DD and I hit London in April - it'll be the height of Australian summer going to the UK and I think we might really suffer from the cold, plus we won't have immunity to the UK bugs.

Swedishmum - apologies, my snacks aren't terribly inspired. Delia I am not.

I'm now back off to watch the hilarious Japanese 'Iron Chef'. Dubbed in all it's glory by the Americans.

arfishy · 03/02/2007 10:01

Its glory. Its!!! Before I get hauled up by the grammar police.

Hello all, agree with Batters re echinacea, or however you spell it, don't take it all the time but just if you feel a cold coming and until it's gone. (it's not its, I wouldn't have dreamt of commenting Arfy but you corrected yourself ) - my cold is as good as gone and since it started on Tuesday I think that's really good going. Jimjams swears by it too iirc.

Butter buds sound AMAZING, is it really true? God, I love, love, love, butter and mostly can't/don't have it in the house as I absolutely CANNOT resist slatering it on bread/toast if it's here so butter buds sound perfect. Why won't Oz allow them in though? Thanks for showing us your beach Arfy, I'm not envious since I hate the heat but I love seeing where people live, it's lovely to think I talk to someone (and think of in Tesco!) such a long way away.

Batters, what did you have in PE in the end? Was it nice? And which museum did you go to and was it good?

NOT a good day really for me:

2 pieces toast, with olive spread and marmite
a Smoothie, all ok

and then I cooked a roast for my sister and her husband and children, so 2 lovely organic chickens, with lemon halves inside them and a mixture of garlic, grated lemon peel and butter stuffed under the skin; potatoes roasted with garlic and rosemary; carrots, broccoli, peas, gravy, Pouilly Fume, Chablis...

followed by a brief pathetic stroll around town with 4 children so slow going (but lovely)

And tonight I will drink but I probably won't eat any more, I'm not remotely hungry after that lot and I ate LOADS of chicken skin and about 5 roast potatoes. And I definitely haven't had enough water today, trying to make up for it now.

But I have had a lovely day and that's got to be good on the happiness quotient.

slathering, not slatering, which isn't a word!

OP posts:
WideWebWitch · 03/02/2007 21:08

Went even further off the rails:

This evening, a wholemeal (that's the only virtuous bit) sandwich with butter, cold chicken, Branston pickle, salt and more Chablis.

I am not worthy to lead this thread but it was all bloody bloody nice.

Ooh impressed at margerita or however you spell it Batters, and at the walking. The British Museum is such a lovely building isn't it? I love the great court and the reading room. Yes, this is a pathetically depleted thread.

Sobernow, that sounds fab. And is the kind of thing we should all do every now and again. 3am, wow, I'm impressed, I NEVER last that long these days, am lightweight who passes out at about midnight at the VERY latest!

dymchurch is our nearest beach - only 10 mins but not quite the same! Again food excellent, wine could do better, though dh away all next week including my birthday so will abstain then,

I drank last night too. I blame dh but as he's away all week from today I can be virtuous. Am planning a relaxing week of pampering myself.

WideWebWitch · 04/02/2007 10:06

Me too Batters and Swedishmum, didn't go to bed til midnight and got a lie in until 9.30 but still feel a bit grim. Have had 2 pieces of toast with loads of butter tihs mornnig. And strong black coffee. Will be better the rest of the day.

I'm here to report my weekend scoffings. Did well on Friday, except on the drink front as went to a school fundraiser in the evening which involved several glasses of red wine and lasagne and garlic bread. Did have lots of rocket salad with it though.

Saturday I ate normal family meals as when dd is around I don't really want her to see me not eating (she's a stick)but I didn't have any alcohol!

Today I'm doing similar to Saturday but again will not drink alcohol at all.

I am being fairly controlled with portion size though compared to before I started the www plan.
