WWW's six week 10 year younger boot camp, WEEK FIVE

WideWebWitch · 29/01/2007 07:26

This is WEEK FIVE. I slacked last week as did many others, so let's start again!

The rules:

This is about feeling better about yourself...not necessarily a diet per se etc etc

The Rules:

  • Sunscreen at all times. I know it's winter, there are still rays trying to damage your skin
  • No or little booze. The odd glass of wine at the weekend is allowed if you want it
  • Walking is important, a small amount every day if possible. 30 mins if you can, I am booking out lunch hours where possible to do this
  • Lots of water, aim for 2 litres a day
  • Apply body cream as often as possible. I am doing my heels daily too as they're lizard like
  • Use hand cream
  • Go to bed early, by 10.30pm if pos
  • Eat healthily
  • Be happy

The idea is that at the end of six weeks we all feel happier, healthier and glow with the good food, sleep, exercise, water and lack of sun damage.

You don't have to report back every day but I almost certainly will as it motivates me thinking someone is watching me.

Welcome all members old and new.

I was doing so well but a friend came round for a couple of glasses of wine tonight. Still, not feeling bad - I see few enough intelligent rational grown ups these days so am going to look at it as a positive social experience instead of a midweek blip.

WideWebWitch · 01/02/2007 06:33

Ate 1 burger, sweet potatoes, peas and green beans last night. no wine. more water and was asleep by 11. Feel slightly better today, still full of cold but not as bad as it was. Skin terrible but putting that down to cold etc.

Had a shower last night and used body lotion all over and heel cream. My feet are nicer and my wedding ring is looser.

Hello everyone, I haven't had time to post before. Have been very good on the alcohol fron all week until last night when succumbed to some red wine.

The last 2 days I had to have some carbs because was pre-men, but only had Cranks wholemeal organic bread with sunflower seeds and a small amount of rice so not the worst carbs in the world.

Otherwise have eaten lots of veg, including a delicious home made soup, and some free range chicken.

Got really excited yesterday as found I could comfortably fit into a new pair of smart trousers for work which last week were on the tight side.

I don't think I look slimmer though except in the face which isn't good at my age, am looking a little drawn.

Not a lot of exercise, only a bit of walking.

What is so great about this thread is that I am focussing on what I eat which makes me think about how much I am actually consuming and how healthy or otherwise it is.

Sending serene vibes to everyone

CAMy · 01/02/2007 13:46

yoo hoo Batters, are you back from that party yet?

CAMy · 01/02/2007 18:13

oh sorry, is it a hangover

WideWebWitch · 01/02/2007 18:46

Oi you two, I SAW you at PPH's party!

lol at Clooney Cherries Batters. Cam, yes, this is making me think about what I eat too. Kwym about face (although I'm a LONG way off having to worry abuot that), it says in the India Knight book that there comes a time when you have to stop losing weight if you're over 40 otherwise you'll look all wrinkly and monkey-like.

Btw, this is PATHETIC for week five, day 4, only 30 posts, is everyone else back on the lard d'ya reckon?

I have a cough but otherwise feel LOADS better cold wise today, thank goodness. A good day:

Granola
grapes
walnuts, pine nuts, brazil nuts (only a few of each)
a few strawberries
blueberries
prawns and smoked salmon
a red pepper with a tiny bit (50g) of hummus
loads of water
walked for 30 mins at lunchtime, with sunscreen
having cod tonight with broccoli and peas
and will have early night
no wine

I am DEFINITELY thinner. I'd even go as far as to say a dress size thinner. Probably. Although I haven't weighed myself and won't, will go on dress size for the moment as it's motivating me. And my skin is finally looking ok again, phew.

OP posts:
WideWebWitch · 01/02/2007 18:46

And drank loads of water too

OP posts:
CAMy · 01/02/2007 18:55

wrinkly and monkey-like, I've been grasping for words to describe my slight haggardness, thanks

I find exercise (proper aerobic stuff) helps to keep the face looking better, must be the oxygen.

Can we carry on after half-term please www, I feel I've only just started really as I haven't stuck to it 100% of the time (def. no lardy stuff though - oh tell a lie, was practically forced to eat a donut at work the other day when soemone brought cakes in for their birthday - it tasted gross)

This is mainly about retraining, right?

WideWebWitch · 01/02/2007 19:15

Oh yes, even if it's just you and me Cam, I was thinking about this today, it's so incentivising (is that a word? prob not), I know, I meant motivational (is that what I mean? Whatever!), to know I will be posting about how I've done.

So yes, absolutely, I'll start another from half term for another six weeks.

OP posts:
WideWebWitch · 01/02/2007 19:15

Lol at wrinkly monkey, sorry! Agree, my face looks better even after my poxy lunchtime walk.

moondog · 01/02/2007 19:16

I daren't post (although i follow).
You all think am a smug smart arse.

PS Oh and I did indeed hear about you stashing a family sized bag of Wotsits in your trolley WWW.

yoyo · 01/02/2007 19:18

Cold still cranking up and am feeling miserable. Am going to have a bath soon and then a very early night after popping a couple of paracetemol.
I have lost 3.5 lbs this week though so that is something to smile about. Lots of walking and water and am going to renew my gym membership tomorrow. DH mentioned an iPod and I think that is incentive enough for me!

moondog · 01/02/2007 19:18

ipods are ace Yoyo.
Mine makes running a joy.

yoyo · 01/02/2007 19:20

I need one so that I don't have to talk to people - one of the reasons I stopped going was that I attracted the chatty people who I think were there just because they were lonely.

CAMy · 01/02/2007 19:21

Smug smart arses are allowed to post but remember www is the Camp Commandant, we're just the soldiers

Step out of line and you'll be on iron rations, oh shit we already are

moondog · 01/02/2007 19:21

Will bear in mind

Me too Batters, I don't want to drink on Friday as I did on Tuesday AND Sunday and tomorrow doesn't feel like Friday as I've only done a 3 day week so that's ok, will just drink on Saturday to make up for it.

Moondog you can post but keep it unsmug, orlright? at your noticing the Wotsits, family sized too!

Yoyo, sorry you're coming down with it. Those Benylin are fab. Today I also took

echinachea
milk thistle
multi vit
vit c
benylin day and night

I was rattling I tell you.

OP posts:
WideWebWitch · 01/02/2007 20:05

I meant will drink on Sat to make up for 1 night drinking in the week, not that I will BINGE like mad on Sat to make up for not drinking on Friday (although I may well do! My tolerance is def down though)

WideWebWitch · 01/02/2007 20:06

And btw Arfy, if you're reading, I looked a Goji berries in Tesco and they were NINE pounds! And I know from you that they're disgusting so I didn't buy them.

OP posts:
swedishmum · 01/02/2007 23:04

Food wise I'm doing fantastically, but admit to drinking again tonight . I got panicky today when I was hungry (ended up with a carrot) and need to keep some healthy snacks to hand. I'm getting there slowly. THANKS WWW! The idea of improving my health along with many others is a big incentive to me - though could never do weightwatchers or similar as I'd hate weighing myself, esp in public.

swedishmum · 01/02/2007 23:06

PS love milk thistle, zinc and Vit C

arfishy · 02/02/2007 03:31

I'm here! I'm here!

at £9 for goji berries. The goji shots are $2.50, so about 80p. There's a limit to quit how much benefit eating the most nutritionally dense food on the planet can bring you, and I think that must be at around the £3 mark. Nice to think that you were thinking of me while you were in Tescos though

And I saw you lot cavorting at PPHs party. Unfotunately everybody was unconscious by the time I rocked up, so I sulked and went home. Did you accept the carrot and hemp juice proffered in penance at any point?

I'm just plodding along, being worthy, resisting the wine that DP opens up every night [possibly getting a bit too sanctimonious emoticon]. I've worked out that it will take me another 10 weeks to get back to my UK weight, which is why I'm not falling off the wagon. But I also want to be healthier, so the water habit and no wine and exercise is really good for me.

I did some relaxing erm spending after dropping DD at pre-school.

I hope everybody's colds are getting better. I put tea-tree oil in hot water under my bed, helps a treat.

What's the echinachea for WWW? Agree with the milk thistle. I'll probably have to be on it for life to counter-balance my shocking wine habit. Congratulations on the dress size!

Swedishmum - I tend to snack on crudites with skinny hummous or if I need something sweet a single liquorice allsort will take the craving away. In winter a tray of roasted winter veg is nice and really healthy/low-fat (spray with one-cal or something).
