One of them there "sort my life out" threads

I'm looking for one of the threads for general S&B self-improvement threads, a bit like the princess ones there used to be.

For the record I'm planning to cut out alcohol completely for a while. I have a social thing tomorrow where I'll probably have a glass of wine or two but after that will cut out. Also doing as much yoga as I can to tone up a bit (finding inner leave along the way would be lovely too).

Does anyone know if there are any threads like this running atm?

Hi, glad to hear from you - don't apologise. Just wondered how you were getting on.

I've had a blissful few hours sorting bits and pieces including an hour long massage, half hour of pilates and some cleaning and half prepped tea.

14 miles walked by the end of today and another 3 to do tomorrow! I'm so pleased with myself. Now I just need to shed a few pounds so I can fit into my waterproof trousers before the rain starts up again. Leaves are coming off the trees already.

Hope you're having a calmer day Frustrated

Sabistick · 08/09/2016 14:45

I'm going to do the rnli h2o challenge, next week, where you only drink water for 10 days, so I weaning myself off coffee and wine gently before it starts. I love all these little goals and it's for a good cause.
Also steeping my fingers in olive oil every night for 15 mins (really weak crappy fingernails)
Core exercises everyday , also balance exercises

FrustratedFrugal · 08/09/2016 17:03

Costa super impressive - your day sounds great. And so relaxing...

Sabistick good luck with the challenge! I'd join but might not function without caffeine. Olive oil nail baths sound lush.

Stevie baking with DC is such a slippery slope. I made muffins with them last week and couldn't help wolfing down a few Wink. Swimming is great and it burns a lot of calories too.

I've had a great day. Work is a bit chaotic still - dreary admin stuff - and I procrastinated a bit but we've had a few good laughs and everything feels better. I slept unmedicated, 13k steps, and the sun is shining!

NeedACostaDetox · 09/09/2016 07:53

Morning!

Feel like I've been hit by a bus - combination of all the walking/buggy pushing/child wrangling and the massage. She described my right shoulder as "crunchy" - not sure what that means, but certainly not good Grin

Meeting a friend for a coffee and then going for a jog - the NHS C25K week 4 scares me so going to modify it to what I feel comfortable with and see how I get on and build on that.

What's everyone up to for the weekend? Tomorrow is some necessary shopping for children (raincoat for one, wellies for the other) and lunch out - Thanks Tesco vouchers.

Sunday we're going to the local theme park and apparently we all have to go on the log flume!

SteviebunsBottrittrundle · 09/09/2016 09:02

Morning!

Oh that sounds like a good plan need. Is this your second trip to the theme park recently?! I'm impressed with your stamina!

I don't really have much planned atm except we have to go and visit DH's grandpa on Sunday. It's always interesting trying to herd DD away from all his ornaments Confused.

I never went swimming in the end yesterday as I got caught up in sorting through any clothes to put in storage. I can't believe how much stuff we have. I'm sending a huge bag to charity and about 4 huge bags back to sil.

Might take DD to the pool instead today, though that isn't really exercise. We'll walk there though so that's something.

Hope everyone has a lovely weekend! Enjoy the theme park and log flume need!

We live 5 minutes from one of the famous ones and have passes so making the most of it. Actually our 3rd go in the last 2 weeks... trust me that the novelty wears off very quickly for the grown ups!

I've got a bin bag full of DD's old uniform to take up to her old school. They can either sell it on or give it to someone in need - just be glad to be rid of it.

Enjoy the pool Stevie

FrustratedFrugal · 09/09/2016 19:39

Hope everyone has had a good day!

Costa poor you - but those aches are good ones. It's really smart to modify the activity load, I'm sure your body knows best.

Stevie and Costa I'm pretty Envy re your mega sortouts! (Sorely needed around here too.) We moved house last year and I went through everything twice - cba now

I'm travelling for work, starting on Sunday. It's a pleasant trip, not very far, but getting ready has been hectic. I'll probably go hand luggage only, so packing will be a bit tricky. I'm also a bit worried about the trip, it can be hard to eat right and get enough exercise while on the road, but I'll do my best. I'm even packing walking maps, just in case Wink 15k steps today.

SteviebunsBottrittrundle · 09/09/2016 21:02

Yes, was a mega sort out! It was all DD's baby clothes which have been stuffed in the back of her wardrobe. I've ordered some new vacuum storage bags from Amazon so just need those to arrive. Can't wait to pack them all away neatly somewhere. It's weird with baby clothes as DD will never be able to wear them again. It feels a bit strange hanging on to them for (very hypothetical) future children!

Well done again on the walking. You might clock up a few miles at the airport as well when you're off on your travels. Hope it's a good trip Smile.

OP posts:
FrustratedFrugal · 10/09/2016 20:12

Ready for the trip. I was so stressed out that lapsed and had a glass of red wine with lasagna for lunch, then slept afterwards. I had run errands and walked 10k in the morning, and probably just ran out of fuel. Today's total 19k steps. A very early start tomorrow.

SteviebunsBottrittrundle · 10/09/2016 20:20

Fair enough frustrated! I'm thinking I might crack and have a glass this evening. Can't decide though.

I'm doing quite well with diet at the moment. I haven't had any sweet things or anything carby for a few days (since gingerbread Blush). Have had lots of protein and green veg and I do feel a lot better for it. DH and I took DD to a country park this afternoon for a nice walk around a lake and then to the play park. It was a bit rainy and grey, but still very nice. We're off to see DH's grandpa tomorrow. Just have to try and behave with my food choices at lunch! Will do some yoga or else Davina fit in 15 DVD when we get home.

Hope the theme park was fun need and hope you have a good trip frustrated!

Have a good trip Frustrated

Rainy here today, theme park tomorrow. Had a lovely meal out and just a really good day with the small people.

Well done on the good food and exercise Stevie

SteviebunsBottrittrundle · 10/09/2016 21:29

Oh sorry need, I thought today was theme park! Have fun tomorrow then Smile.

NeedACostaDetox · 12/09/2016 13:38

Hi

we had a fairly good day out yesterday. Was still very busy as people made the most of the dry weather. I didn't go jogging - was enough to think about the miles and miles I will be walking this week!

Done 1.6m already this morning and same again this afternoon. In the half hour that both small people were asleep at the same time, I managed a few pilates stretches and a 10 minute HITT for mums workout so I feel like I've done something targeted.

Have also managed to (superficially) clean the downstairs while they get all the toys out.

Food hasn't been great! 3 chocolate biscuits for breakfast at 10am and a salami and cheese toastie for lunch!! Tea should be better as I've done an oven roast ham to have with new pots and salad.

Hope everyone has a good Monday!

SteviebunsBottrittrundle · 12/09/2016 14:43

Well done with the walking need. Glad you had a good day at the theme park.

Yesterday was a bit Confused. A lot of driving and seeing lots of people. DD didn't nap at all so was sooooo grumpy by the time we started for home. Usually she sleeps in the car but think she's decided her napping days are behind her! I did my Davina DVD in the morning and then didn't have time for breakfast, so was ravenous by lunchtime and ate not brilliantly as a result... Oh well.

Today has been better diet wise. I had some boiled eggs for breakfast and will be having butternut squash soup for lunch and a stir fry with cauliflower rice for dinner. That's the plan anyway...

As DD has decided to stop napping, my usual lunch and yoga time slot is being used up trying to convince her to nap at the moment. She is upstairs chatting away to herself and her teddies as we speak. If she ever goes to sleep, I'll have my soup and then do some yoga or the Davina DVD. If not, I'll just have lunch and do the yoga later.

OP posts:
NeedACostaDetox · 12/09/2016 20:51

Such a pain when they give up their nap Grin

I find my day goes a lot better if I start off with eggs - just getting time to make and eat them.... argh!

Off to bed soon, today started well before sunrise.

SteviebunsBottrittrundle · 13/09/2016 12:37

Yes, I agree with the eggs thing need. I definitely don't tend to graze as much when I've had a good, protein rich breakfast.

I hope you got your early night and not too early a start this morning!

Well, the good news is that DD is napping, but the bad news is I think it's because she's poorly Sad. She was roasting hot last night and so sleepy. Poor thing. She's been in quite good spirits today but is definitely not herself. She practically climbed into her cot just now and went out like a light.

Anyway, I have had a weird (though very low carb) breakfast of prawns fried in coconut oil with mayonnaise Confused! I got the prawns out of the freezer to use for dinner last night and then never got round to making what I had planned to so thought I'd better cook them sooner rather than later!

I have leftover butternut squash soup on the stove to eat now and then planning to have grilled halloumi salad this evening. Think that should be quite low carb for the day.

I have another dinner and drinks thing in London at the weekend. Hopefully I will actually be able to go to this one! Kind of depends on poor DD though. Will be trying to up the princessing between now and then so I look nice for it. Even if I don't get to go it won't hurt to make a bit more effort for a few days.

OP posts:
NeedACostaDetox · 14/09/2016 06:51

Hope DD is better this morning. Mileage is looking good, but boy is it hot! (good for drinking water I suppose). Last night I sorted bikini area and feet so that's something!

Today will include more walking, small child wrangling and house cleaning.

SteviebunsBottrittrundle · 14/09/2016 08:46

DD seems to be absolutely fine now thank you need Smile. I think she was just really exhausted having refused to nap for so long! She had an enormous nap yesterday and then woke up in great form, ate loads and played in the garden and then went to bed for another huge sleep. She's not hot or anything today so think she's over whatever it was.

My plan today is to stick to my healthy, low carb meals, no booze and plenty of water. If DD decides to nap I'll do some yoga. If not, I might try and do a 15 minute workout while she plays with her trains... I'm kidding myself aren't I? I've tried that in the past and it has always ended with her wanting to 'join in', which is fine, but her idea of 'joining in' seems to be me picking her up! When she was a baby I used her as a weight, but she is nearly two now. Think I'd wreck my back, though she would probably find it all hilarious!

We have a playgroup this morning and it's in a church which will be nice and cool! Hope everyone else can stay cool today. Yesterday was horrid here. Too hot for me!

OP posts:
NeedACostaDetox · 14/09/2016 10:03

Glad to hear she's better.

Hope the business trip is going well Frustrated, in my head it sounds fabulous with hotel food, uninterrupted sleep, but I know it's not the reality.

Already hot here - not looking forward to the PM school run.

NeedACostaDetox · 15/09/2016 10:57

Hello!

It's my day 'off' but a to do list as long as my arm. Have been out for a jog and managed to do 6 minutes without stopping and then another 2x 3 minutes. Feeling chuffed!

Best get on and get stuff done after wasting an hour on here

SteviebunsBottrittrundle · 15/09/2016 13:08

Hello!

Sounds like you're doing really well with the jogging need! Not easy in this heat.

It's my day off as well (DD is at nursery). I've just been for a swim which was lovely (though found some of the overly competitive male swimmers doing front crawl in the slow lane a bit intimidating)! I never understand that - there's a fast lane too you know. Sorry - I'm sure they have their reasons for using the slow lane, but at the time, t'was irksome. Oh well, it meant I wasn't bored!

I'm heading home now to clean the house. It's hot here again. I think it's meant to cool down a bit tomorrow though.

I've been doing pretty well with diet this week which I'm pleased about and I do feel much better for it. Trying very hard to stay motivated, and for the time being, I am! Weekends are harder though.

Hope everyone is having a nice day Smile.

Hello,

Can I rejoin 3rd time lucky? ?

I'm back from 10 days in Spain, after looking at my flab and hairy legs, unpedicured feet, taking a bra that I hadn't realised was too small, and no shorts because whilst packing I realised that they were too small... Enough really is enough!

Today I've been and had my waxing, mani and pedi and eyebrows done. I've cleaned the house from top to bottom.

Walked dogs for 45mins had planed to do an eve walk but it poured down!
Breakfast - full fat yogurt and fresh strawberries. Bootea AM tea.
Am snack - apple and 30 almonds
Lunch - 2 scones, cream and strawberry jam (not ideal!) but I hadn't seen my friend in ages.
Dinner - salmon steak and loads of green veg.

I'm planning to go back to the gym on Monday.

SteviebunsBottrittrundle · 15/09/2016 20:40

Hi Karcheer! Glad to hear from you. How was holiday? 10 days in Spain sounds lovely.

I've had a good day, but I'm struggling a bit trying to behave with diet this evening. I've been really good today but now I'm hungry ! I don't want to eat anything I have in though want a takeaway so will resist and just go to bed soon. If I had any wine I'd be having a glass.

OP posts:
NeedACostaDetox · 15/09/2016 21:13

Hi hi

I've had a whole pizza for tea - don't even want to think how many calories... luckily a freezer one rather than Dominos. DD had swimming so we needed something quick after.

Welcome back Karcheer

Tomorrow I'm hoping will be quieter.

Meeting a friend for hot choc and cake, going to the PO with a long over due parcel and need to do some shredding and do my feet. That, 2 school runs, making a lasagne and meeting friends in the park after school doesn't actually sound quieter does it? sigh

I'm off to bed now!

Karcheer · 16/09/2016 15:02

Hello,

Had hot lemon water, bootea am tea and a strawberry and mango smoothie for breakfast.
An apple for am snack
Baby spinach, goats cheese, beetroot, tomatoes, cucumber salad, for lunch.
And two chocolate biscuits and a coffe for pm snack...

Properly dried my hair today and makeup today - which I rarely do (hair normally air dry) makeup normally just eyeliner if anything...

I wore a white tshirt till I splattered beetroot on it, I'd normally stay in it Blush but changed into a green one :)
Also wearing my fat day jeans which are decidly tight!

0.3 less on the scales this morning tho!!!
