  1. How much?
  2. How long did it take?
  3. Did it really help you?
  4. Do you still use the advice even now when buying clothes?

For example, in ASDA today I bought a green and black wrap dress for £2!!!

It fits lovely and was a real bargain but not sure if green is my colour. Did I only buy cause it was 2 quid. If I'd had my colours done would I say 'yes it's cheap but green makes me look pale/knackered/like shit?

Thank you.

ooh - dp's always wanted to get her colours done - where can you get it done?

purpleturtle · 26/01/2007 14:26

I'm not cod, but if you're interested in my two pen'orth, it's

  1. £85
  2. A few hours - I think people who I know who do it provide lunch. (I didn't do the full works, cos it's a friend and she did me a bit differently)
  3. It really really helped me. I'd just been diagnosed with depression, and it made me feel so much better about myself.
  4. I don't buy anything unless dh double-checks that it's the right colour (he has a much better eye than I do).

When you get it right, people compliment you. And that's addictive!

I went with Cod when we got our colours done; I thought it was really good and has definitely helped me avoid those -"well it's a bargain so I'll buy it " clothes purchases - I just scan along the sale rail now and seek out my Winter Colours only.

Cod, naturally , ws sceptical - but ( don't tell anyone) she thinks they are fine now and does refer to her swatch book we were given. We went to a consultant in the Winchester area - which if tha's near you ( and I'm guessing from your name it's not) I can give you her details.

I'm going to be doing it this year (significant bday coming up) so am interested in this thread but really, the Cod had to be pulled up on that one. Maybe she has hammers for hands

MamaGstring · 26/01/2007 14:39

now now don't get your teal knickers in a twist

Skyler · 26/01/2007 14:43

Had mine done by Colour me Beautiful. www.cmb.co.uk
Cost £75
Took 1.5 hours
Did my make up too
I loved it. Wouldn't spend the money on myself but it was a B'day present from DH and my Dad.
Def helped me, although you generally know your colours ish anyway. ie your fave clothes will be in colours that suit you.
I am Deep and Cool. Was better for me to learn what colours DIDN'T suit than the ones that did.
I take my fabric swatch colours with me if I am clothes shopping.
I actually asked for (and got) some of the CMB make up and the Emerald scarf they sell too for Christmas and the colours do work and I have been complimented on how the scarf suits etc.

who cares?

purpleturtle · 26/01/2007 14:44

Sorry Northener, that's a Sheffield price.

But I reckon it's worth it - persuade a bunch of people to club together for your birthday, or something.

Skyler · 26/01/2007 14:45

Sunny - I had mine done for my 30th.

purpleturtle · 26/01/2007 14:46

Actually, Skyler, I found that I was basically wearing autumn, when I should be wearing spring. It took somebody to talk me into the brighter colours - I'd not have touched them with a bargepole - but there's no going back now!
