  1. How much?
  2. How long did it take?
  3. Did it really help you?
  4. Do you still use the advice even now when buying clothes?

For example, in ASDA today I bought a green and black wrap dress for £2!!!

It fits lovely and was a real bargain but not sure if green is my colour. Did I only buy cause it was 2 quid. If I'd had my colours done would I say 'yes it's cheap but green makes me look pale/knackered/like shit?

Thank you.

Oooh Purple that must have helped then.
They don't do the seasons anymore at CMB. They have deep, cool, warm, soft, clear etc.
I have 'Deep' colouring (ie dark hair and eyes tho v pale skin) and 'cool' skin undertones.

Skyler · 26/01/2007 14:54

And the book they give you has fabric swatches rather than the paper printed version that my Mum got when hers were done so easier to match etc.
My Dad bought me this REALLY bright lipstick for Xmas from the website that I thought I would NEVER wear, but it really does suit me and so I have worn it.
I don't think the make up is at all necessary but I needed a revamp and Christmas came at the right time.

ItsMeMellowma · 26/01/2007 15:03

sorry dottydot!!

MrsBadger · 26/01/2007 15:25

god you lot paid a lot

I (well, MIL) paid £42 for someone who did it in their spare room
took off all make up, sat in daylight
took 1.5hr
most useful bit was Colours Not To Wear - basically means you need less slap.

I use the advice all the time - cod is right, means everything in your wardrobe looks good together.

I had mine done years ago ,house of colour I think it was.I'm a summer but a brown summer. We had a group of about 4 of us doing it and I was the last ,well after scraping my face clean and draping hundreds of colours around me noone could decide if any of them made my shocking unmadeup face look remotely better.
She was actually quite confused by me.
I have since lost my pallete ,but do remember that I suit browns.

mrsdarcy · 26/01/2007 18:34

Do your colours change as you get older?

I had it done 11 years ago, pre-children. My colouring is a bit different now, a bit like knickers that have been washed too many times

Yes my lady said your colours may well change as you get older and maybe stop dying hair etc.
You might be a soft now. If you get the right colours you won't look washed out .
PMSL at Cod's wine suggestion.
They couldn't decide on my Mum when she had it done. She was Winter and Summer eh???

Sorry Mrs Darcy, I didn't mean you looked washed out...

brimfull · 26/01/2007 19:59

well we did have a glass with lunch but that was after the humiliating colour screening

mrsdarcy · 26/01/2007 20:54

Skyler.

Maybe I'll get mine done again, then.

Well I have never had my colours done, but I think that I am quite confident in wearing what I like IYKWIM. I don't DO beige or any taupy type mushroom colours as they simply drain me, never needed someone to tell me that. I also don't do pastels (except spft pinks sometimes)

However I couldn't stand the thought or walking around with colour swatches tbh, I know what suits me and dn't need an over made up avon-esque lady to tell me
