That bookshop looks wonderful, NU. I keep meaning to try Elena Ferrante.

herbaceous · 11/08/2016 13:13

I shall pop in for a browse! Or, more likely, a more protracted wander. Though bookshops always make me need the loo. Anyone else?

This feature I'm writing requires the input of 10 (ten, X) people. One (1, i) has got back to me. I have one day left to write it. I can't structure it until I speak to the pivotal person. I remember now why these features take so bloody long...

herbaceous · 11/08/2016 13:32

HA HA. With a 'slight hangover', DP has had to climb the Monument, all claustrophobic 316 steps of it. And take DS to London Bridge station to look at the trains.

motherinferior · 11/08/2016 13:51

Herbs, I have sent a polite but firm email to one of my potential interviewees who says breezily 'you'll have to see if you can catch me in' and am banging out own feature. On the treatment of transgender patients in mainstream hospital services. I have a lot of notes....

I am cobbling a lot of mine from online documents and quotes. It's about housing in Waltham Forest. It will be shit, but if no-one will talk to me what's a girl to do...

herbaceous · 11/08/2016 14:08

DP now appears to be in Catford. It would seem the young master has roped him into one of his London Tours.

motherinferior · 11/08/2016 14:16

I am honoured by their presence.

herbaceous · 11/08/2016 14:26

I'll tell them to pop in for a cuppa, shall I?

herbaceous · 11/08/2016 14:28

Oddly, they do now appear to be in a house in Catford. You don't live on Brookdale Road do you?

bigTillyMint · 11/08/2016 14:31

Oh Herbs, libraries always made me want the loo as a child!

Suits and coat for DH have been delivered and we have been our for last meal here - plane to Hanoi tomorrow!

motherinferior · 11/08/2016 14:40

No, I wonder where they are?

Oh no, BTM, I'm now remembering maternity leave with DD2, during that incredibly hot summer of 2003; I used to take the toddler and baby to the local library, where DD1 then had a habit of removing her nappy and running around in terrifying manner...

OP posts:
herbaceous · 11/08/2016 15:49

There was some kind of disturbance in the force. They were never in Catford.

BTM - is it just the end of your time in that spot, or in Vietnam in general?

BeachysSandyFlipFlops · 11/08/2016 15:50

I love hearing about young Herbs jaunts around town Smile

Just had a lovely mini MU with Rose and beautiful Miss Rose, tea and chat in one of my favourite cafes. I returned home to find my miracle Home IT man was just leaving and he has 'uberised' my wifi....Tis truly amazing, fast zappy wifi everywhere. I know that this is not exciting for you urban folk, but here in the country, wifi blackspots were all over the house. Now they are no more GrinGrin

addle · 11/08/2016 16:04

Last day in beautiful cadaquez, sitting in flower shrouded bar and once again sipping cava. Back to girona tomorrow via figueras and Dali museum. Is wonderful part of world; hope to return with fully mobile dh. In moments of stress hv downloaded liane moriaetys which has helped no end tho now run out and on interminable forsyte saga. Intermittent wifi but ds has coped gracefully. Happy belated Crem.

wordassociationfootball · 11/08/2016 16:12

CRRRRRREM! HAVE A FABBERLUS YEAR. LATE BUT HEARTFELT.

Collymollypuff · 11/08/2016 16:44

I agree with you, Beachy, about the young master's jaunts. I can't believe how willing and able his parents are....especially the frigging Monument in this muggy weather.

Addle, glad you like Liane Moriarty. The Forsyte Saga is a great fave of mine, although the last three in the series of nine volumes do tail off in quality imho.

I am triumphant today because I got Elizabeth Jane Howard's memoir Slipstream for a song in my favourite charity shop, hurrah. She wrote the Cazalet Chronicles, of which many crepeys are fans. Now I'm going to read the real life story from which she drew her fiction.

Slipstream

herbaceous · 11/08/2016 17:06

I assure you, the number of transport jaunts are a vanishingly small fraction of the number the YM would like us to go on. All day, every day spent on the DLR, c2c and the Croydon tram network would be his ideal state. Even when doing something else - such as viewing amazing fountains in Italy - conversation still revolves around such matters. When will it end, oh lord?

florascotianew · 11/08/2016 18:42

Many thanks everyone for kind comments re spectacles. And for invite to meet up. Very much appreciated. Have eye test booked for next week and will get prescription to forward to Cubitts. Sorry for delay replying - a lot of work today plus aged parent concerns (unfair to say problems, because I think they are 100% normal and par for the course, but they are worrying). That seems to be the case for so many of us.

Rosebag · 11/08/2016 20:58

I think flora that I would call it a problem. It's tough, sorry you have this too, but Crepeys are a good source of support. Flowers ....good about the specs though.

I am quietly feeling with all the other Crepeys awaiting results. I am awaiting two lots of the buggers. Yes, my DCs places are safe owing to some luck we had last year as some will remember, all around the time DDad was dying...( I like to think he had something to do with it all) but the pressure around grades and the competition weighs heavily. Wine to all expectant parents.

Sounds lovely addle . I wonder how CV is getting on in the US. lalsy I think the DC think I'm the one who needs the boundaries. Grin

Lovely mini MU with beachy who has introduced me to a lovely new and as yet undiscovered (by me) source of tea and lovely treats. We were slightly rudely interrupted by DD who spent the £20 I gave her as a bribe to stay away too quickly. Ah well. I am still feeling a little forgotten by DH and DS who are enjoying freedom to work, socialise and presumably eat out every night Angry without my watchful eye. They arrive tomorrow evening, presumably expecting their Friday night dinner. Hmm

Blackduck · 11/08/2016 22:06

I am up for a restorative drinking tomorrow - MI. MrsS? Where/when?. I have various duties to perform tomorrow which I am shoving firmly to the back of my mind, but happy for someone to name a time/place

Auriga · 11/08/2016 23:24

Where is convenient for you BD and what kind of time?

bigTillyMint · 11/08/2016 23:57

Herbs, we have 5 more days - Hanoi/Halong Bay/Hanoi/Home!
Was your DP a Spotter?!

Is it muggy in London ATM? Molly, thank your lucky stars you're not here - a humid 39 degrees! It looks like it maybe a bit cooler in Hanoi, thank god!

I was thinking Waterstones - timing 5ish? Or later? I am hoping I will have done my tour of North London by then.

Rudy many thanks.

Huge meltdown yesterday when we discovered our patio is going to cost even more because the original build was such a bodge.....

motherinferior · 12/08/2016 08:12

Could we make it 6ish?
