Good basic t shirts?

Ok, does this exist? I'm after a t shirt that:

Isn't too fitted/clingy
Washes well and doesn't need ironing
Doesn't get twisted out of shape after a few washes
Has a nice 'drape' from my ample-ish bosom but doesn't make me look like I have no waist
Isn't too 'boxy'
Comes down to at least mid-hip
Not too high-necked, but doesn't show the top of my bra

Am I mad? Does such a garment exist? Confused

Help, please?!

I am short waisted (I just found out what that means!) so I find t-shirts too long. Where can I get shorter ones?!

what do other short waisted people do?

BusStopBetty · 06/06/2016 22:25

Noodling, they buy t shirts from m&s then wash them. Instant petite t shirt.

Really though, I'm not sure. I always have the opposite issue, so can say that I always find tops in Dorothy Perkins to be too short.

I really love Matalan, I find its between primark and next cost wise and the quality is very good

Madz1982 · 06/06/2016 22:40

My la redoute thirst are a lovely fit and feel like great quality -still feel like brand new and I've had them over 6 months!

Madz1982 · 06/06/2016 22:40

T shirts! Darn auto correct!

TheSkiingGardener · 06/06/2016 22:48

I still find the M&S cheap ones shrink and start displaying my stomach to all and sundry. Primary ones are developing holes around my boobs rapidly unfortunately.

Sainsbury are usually good and Tesco did a nicely cut one last year

GrandMarmoset · 06/06/2016 23:00

This made me think of my favorite t-shirt. I bought it in a supermarket in Zimbabwe (then Rhodesia) for $3.99 in 1974. I've dyed it twice and it's got a bit too fitting on my boobs, but it's still my favorite. They don't make them like they used to.

feelingmiffed · 06/06/2016 23:11

Sainsburys have got some nice long basic tshirts in at the moment

BreakfastLunchPasta · 06/06/2016 23:48

My favourite is a really cheap grey modal/cotton I got for a few quid from Aldi - I think it was meant to be either a lounge wear or sports wear 'special', but it drapes nicely and looks expensive. It goes well with jeans and blazer, or with mini skirt or shorts. I wish I had 7 of them..

I've also got good quality, well cut T's from Esprit, though they come up really small. They're not short and they don't shrink, just very small French sizing.

Lickedthespoon · 07/06/2016 00:27

2 for £6 i think in Tesco. They are V neck so may be an issue but the material is lovely, has a small pocket, lots of colours (i have 4), covers most of my butt, wash nicely, no fading yet. The cut is really nice and i feel it gives me shape but not clingy - hope you find ones right for you Smile

I love Primark shirts. Had mine for years.
I'll check out the TU range.
Can't understand why anyone would pay silly money for a t-shirt.

It's worth looking in the sportswear section of tk max for tshirts.

I've bought a few roll neck tops - for wearing under jumpers and cardigans (from their ski section) in the past and the quality and fit is far superior to anything I've seen in the shops, where the material is sometimes too thick and nasty, or too short.

fassbendersgirlfriend · 07/06/2016 11:19

White Company. Last ages, great quality, very flattering

3dogsandacat · 07/06/2016 16:06

Yes to White Company.
A bit pricey, but they don't bobble.

I have some nice M & S tshirts.
They weren't that cheap and yet even they bobble after one wash.

Someone mentioned (in the industry) that the fibres in the materials used these days are much shorter than they used to be. That's why they may look good to start with, but start to look shabby after a while.

Could someone put a picture up of the amazing primark tees. Pretty please? Grin.
I go in there and there's just so much stuff that I never find anything!

BikeRunSki · 07/06/2016 21:52

The Primark Ts are usually folded (!!!!) up on a table with long sleeved Ts and vests too. Lots of colours of each, in piles. Cost about £3.

Floisme · 07/06/2016 22:04

Are the Primark Ts cotton? The ones I've seen are a cotton-polyester mix. Thanks.

BikeRunSki · 08/06/2016 18:57

The ones I have are, with about 5% Lycra

Floisme · 08/06/2016 19:19

Thanks Smile
