Good basic t shirts?

Ok, does this exist? I'm after a t shirt that:

Isn't too fitted/clingy
Washes well and doesn't need ironing
Doesn't get twisted out of shape after a few washes
Has a nice 'drape' from my ample-ish bosom but doesn't make me look like I have no waist
Isn't too 'boxy'
Comes down to at least mid-hip
Not too high-necked, but doesn't show the top of my bra

Am I mad? Does such a garment exist? Confused

Help, please?!

Ahem.
I like short, boxy Tshirts. I'm short myself so they suit me. I wear them with high waisted stuff.

Smellyrose · 06/06/2016 09:41

I bought some Gap t-shirts in the sale earlier this year. Lovely shape, feel soft and don't need ironing.

I'll check out primark next time I'm near one - they sound fab.

The White Company

missmartha01 · 06/06/2016 09:54

The M&S tees are fine this year. I mentioned upthread that I've got grey, white, navy and black plus a grey and white stripe. They're lovely and they have stayed true to their shape and colour. They also do a sort of blancmange pink and the same pink in a stripe which I will not be buying Wink

Boden :)

I too have been searching for the holy grail of the perfect t-shirt...after 2 years of searching, I found it in Zara - great cut, flattering v neck, good value. I have found no decent basic t shirts anywhere else

SaltyGoodness · 06/06/2016 15:20

United Colours of Benetton!

Their linen t-shirts are FAB. Long, beautifully shaped, and they don't cling like cotton but drape wonderfully. Wash and tumble dry well. Bloody cheap and lots of colours - especially Breton stripes in really unusual colours and not just navy.

My mum loves those M&S tshirts that come down almost to the elbow. Material is very thick which she likes. I didn't find they held their shape very well though.

RebelRobin · 06/06/2016 17:04

These are good, but pricey. Probably last longer than Primark though
White Stuff T shirts

Oasis - I love there stuff! Such good quality and washes well. They have loads of nice colours. They do lots of nice basic vest tops too!

oldlaundbooth · 06/06/2016 20:33

these are the best I find.

Mens, but really well-fitting.

Travelledtheworld · 06/06/2016 20:43

Another vote here for Sainsburys Tu range.
Also Landsend are very good quality and not too expensive.

I get all my t-shirts from Sainsbury's TU, they're £4 for plain colours and £5 for stripy ones, (dunno why the stripy ones are more expensive, shrugs.) But they pretty much fit your criteria and they feel lovely (and are pure cotton.)

Sadik · 06/06/2016 20:48

Not rock bottom price, but not outrageous (much cheaper than White Stuff for example) - rapanui make absolutely lovely bamboo t-shirts with a really good shape to them. The only downside for me is they're a tad on the long side (I'm a short-arse), but I think they'd be perfect if you were over 5' 2".

They also do an organic cotton version which is cheaper & looks very much the same shape, but I've not tried them.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 06/06/2016 20:50

Sapphire - because somebody paints all of the stripes on by hand, of course.

Agree that White Company can be good - but expensive and a v limited range of colours. I try to pick them up in the sales.

1frenchfoodie · 06/06/2016 21:01

Uniqlo for me - both their heat tech and basic cotton tees wash well. I have about 6 of the former that are a few years old, they are a real staple for me and with a breastfeeding baby at home get washed a lot. The heat tech ones are stretch though so may not be what you are looking for.

startingtheengine · 06/06/2016 21:02

Another vote for Tu @ Sainsburys. I have the black ones for work. They wash well and keep their shape and I have never ironed one Grin

SausageSmuggler · 06/06/2016 21:07

The most flattering ones I have are from primark. I have a very similar shape and they tick all the boxes.

SapphireSeptember · 06/06/2016 21:12

Remus Grin So that's what it is? Explains that then!

FirstWeTakeManhattan · 06/06/2016 21:16

No, but I need one.

I know two French women who have basic tee shirts tailored. It doesn't cost much, and they always look perfect. I'm going down that route just as soon as I can be arsed.

Swissgemma · 06/06/2016 21:21

I have just caved and bought a handful of Isabella Oliver maternity cap sleeve scoop t Shirts. I realized 10 months after the monsters arrival and when I am pretty much pre pregnancy weight that I was always waiting for the couple of Isabella Oliver maternity t's to come through the wash... So I bought some!

dafuqisdis · 06/06/2016 21:33

Oasis are doing one right now:
It's all you describe and more. The stupid website is down though. Get ye to oasis on the morrow
