Please help me not look a twat at my own wedding?

I'm dead organised me, so currently looking to purchase something to wear for my own wedding in mid-June (yes, three weeks time). I have an unfortunate tendency to look like a massive twat in dresses, so will need to find a trouser-based affair. I have tried on this and it was lovely but I am short - barely five foot short - and worried that culotte style bottoms is going to make me look really silly.

What do you think - am I going to look stumpy and daft, or will it be fine? Do you have any stylish suggestions? Any input VERY gratefully received. I am a size 10-12 as well as being a massive short arse, if it helps.

This may help

I'm the opposite to you super tall collates make me look shorter, and a bit dumpy but this may just be me!

An "ankle swinger" will make your legs look longer, but you need to get the length just right, if that's not for you wear a high wasted trouser with a belt, skinny to elongate the legs the belt- will direct the eyes up and again make your legs longer!

And wear killer heals.. I gave up on heals years ago because I look like a giraffe :) and DP is shorter than me by quite a way if I'm in heals! Assuming you can wear them.

And congratulations on the forthcoming wedding

This looks pretty. Though it's only part of an outfit.

squizita · 23/05/2016 19:44

Gruauch sorry no. £250 spent on something supposed to be £600 is not always the best choice. There is plenty of good stuff at £250 (Coast and Monsoon spring to mind, often featured on higher end wedding blog posts from Love My Dress and the like aLongside 2k dresses).

The 600 mark is a risky one - bottom end of fully ornate or tailored. Thus the sale versions are often the WORST.

Go for top end of high street (comes in under 400) or 700+ in the sale down from 1000+.
Or dress up regular high street. Very easy to do with the right accessories.

In fact that's what I'd say for many special day outfits.

PoohBearsHole · 23/05/2016 19:53

what do y love wearing and feel special in? don't go too off the mark to what y feel glam in. then I can help 😃

PoohBearsHole · 23/05/2016 19:55

although, quite like this

PoohBearsHole · 23/05/2016 19:56

then you can go wild on shoes, anything goes!

CONFESSION TIME:

I did already buy this

My mum called it wacky Hmm but is now desperately backtracking and trying to pretend she meant in a cool, unusual way.

I do love it, and I am keeping it regardless, but I'm not sure it's my wedding outfit. I'd be interested in your opinions - although bear in mind it's already paid for and tags off Wink

It does look ace on. Mum is trying to draw comparisons with Mary Quant (I assure you I am not that slim nor stylish).

Flo I love a bit of cheese, don't worry. I appreciate your sentiment and warning. And yes you're right Mum will park the framed photo in pride of place on the piano (telly too narrow these days!)

I love the play suit, particularly the cape detail.

If you feel great in it then wear it, you could add the metallic belt a PP linked to with white jumpsuits.

Floisme · 23/05/2016 20:36

Heh heh don't worry and I love it that we've all been looking up pretty, lacey things for you and all the time you had a purple playsuit stashed away Grin

I agree with your mum it will look wacky - but in a good way. I particularly love the cape.

Nishky · 23/05/2016 20:47

That purple one is gorgeous!

isupposeitsverynice · 23/05/2016 20:52

When I was a little kid I went to a super posh pre-school where the uniform included not just a straw boater, but a CAPE AS WELL. Unfortunately for me, we moved away before I got my cape, and it has been a life long source of regret. So you know.

I am still seriously considering some of the options that you wonderful lot have suggested, but I thought I would see what you all thought of the purple one!

CleopatraCominAtcha · 23/05/2016 21:05

I love the purple and if you are excited about wearing it then it's got to be the one, no? Get yourself a ridiculous hat to go with it in case it's sunny in the garden and you will be happy all day. I'd love to look ace in that. Make the most of it.

MrsLettuce · 23/05/2016 21:17

Yes. the purple one! It's the very best sort of wacky, I love it.

CarpetDiem · 23/05/2016 21:19

OP your purple caped playsuit as a bridal out fit just screams 'trying hard to look effortless and failed'

therootoftheroot · 23/05/2016 21:22

the purple thing is awful sorry

gingerbreadmanm · 23/05/2016 21:24

Ooh pretty.

I would team that with a thin gold belt and strappy gold sandals. Are you having a bouquet?

Can we have a pic of you in it?

gingerbreadmanm · 23/05/2016 21:27

necklace

dragonsarebest · 23/05/2016 21:29

Yes! Love the purple one! And it seems very "you", not what a load of internet randoms (myself included) have suggested for you without knowing anything about you. Like a PP said, if you feel amazing in it, that's the one. Love it.

dragonsarebest · 23/05/2016 21:32

Confession, my mum got married in a purple paisley mini dress and I love the fact she didn't even consider something more conservative. Purple with legs out looks like a perfect bridal outfit to me :)

woody2976 · 23/05/2016 21:38

go for it! love the playsuit. Im similar height and size. please report back about your final decision!

peasofcake · 23/05/2016 21:39

What is your OH wearing, I always think you need to match in level of formalness and that will look a bit more co ordinated in the photos.

I love the idea of cream/ white lace top and tailored trousers with some lush shoes, I have a lovely self portrait lace top and have had lots of comments about its 'specialness' have you thought about a personal shopper, I'm not trying to panic you but It's getting pretty close ! best of luck with the hunt and big day.

SilvaCaledonia · 23/05/2016 21:48

The play suit is fab, wear it and have a great day

Andcake · 23/05/2016 21:54
