Help please! Would I look ridiculous wearing this outfit/skirt to the races?

Well, kind of like this.
My first time going to the races - apparently we are going to the "nice" part but not the super-posh area.
Would this kind of outfit look ok? The top will either be a stripey or plain black boatneck one and the skirt I'm eyeing up is a little bit less "pouffy" and more nude than pink.
Will l look stupid? I can hoestly not tell!

Help please! Would I look ridiculous wearing this outfit/skirt to the races?

I dont think it looks very much like a going to the races kind of outfit. Sorry.

Clarabelle40 · 22/05/2016 11:35

I think it looks lovely and would be totally suitable. What shoes are you thinking of wearing?

justkeeponsmiling · 22/05/2016 11:43

Mad, I would bosh it up with a plain boatneck top and chunky statement necklace. Not smart enough do you think?
Thank you Clara, I was thinking high-ish black heels or high-ish black strappy sandals and a black patent clutch bag.

You won't look stupid. Looks ideal for the races IMO.

newtscamander · 22/05/2016 11:47

Love it! Might have to copy Smile

ShinyShinyShiny · 22/05/2016 11:51

I think it looks fab. Where is the skirt from that you're looking at? My inner ballerina has always wanted a skirt like that.

Destinysdaughter · 22/05/2016 11:54

Looks lovely! You must have a tiny waist to be able to pull off a skirt like that. Go for it! 🏇

Clarabelle40 · 22/05/2016 12:02

Yes, perfect! Although if sinking into the grass could be an issue, maybe some kind of lace-up wedge espadrilles might be an idea?

justkeeponsmiling · 22/05/2016 12:17

Thank you all! Will have a look at wedge espandrilles clara , hadn't thought of the problem of sinking into the grass, thanks for pointing that one out!
Thanks destiny , I have a small waist and massive backside so that sort of shape skirt works well on me Grin

So pretty. Simple but stylish. Go for it (caution - never been to the races and have no idea if it's actually ok but it's gorgeous!)

justkeeponsmiling · 22/05/2016 12:34

They look lovely!

Clarabelle40 · 22/05/2016 12:37

And quite similar to the ones in your first photo I think! I'm tempted myself now! I think I NEED that skirt Grin

justkeeponsmiling · 22/05/2016 12:47

Haha it's lovely isn't it? I'm usually not very girly at all but I have totally fallen in love with that look.

Which races??

I'm going to ascot in June and was thinking about something similar. It's the hat rules which have thrown me...

Ememem84 · 22/05/2016 12:49

And yes to wedges. Wedge it up. No sinking in the grass!!

justkeeponsmiling · 22/05/2016 12:51

It's Chester races Em so I don't think I'll have to wear a hat. Or do I??

Going to the races is a lot of standing around outside with sometimes not much cover. So you want to be wearing comfy shoes you're happy to stand in. If it's a windy day you might find the skirt just blows around so might not be practical either.

In terms of smartness it's fine, but the weather might make it unsuitable

I have these Office Mai tai (if the link works) and they are very, very pale pink suede wedges. The wedges are suede too. I bought them on sale two weeks ago.

NattyGolfJerkin · 22/05/2016 12:54

Infinitely more stylish than the acres of skin tight Coast body con satin usually on show, OP. V nice.

KindDogsTail · 22/05/2016 12:55

I saw that link did not work so here is a screen shot. Office Mai Tai nude two part wedge.

Madbengalmum · 22/05/2016 12:57

Justkeepon, i think it would work with the jewellery, but not with the initial photo, as i think the top isnt dressy enough.

Madbengalmum · 22/05/2016 12:58

Not keen on the big handbag in the first look either, but like it with the more dressed up clutch.
