First date at Springsteen Gig

Could you suggest a cool and not too "try hard" outfit for a Springsteen gig?

Early 40s, busty, size 16. I guess I'll need layers as early June is unpredictable?

My style icon is Kirstie Allsopp (similar looks) so I'm a bit all at sea!

I'm BL 206 Wherever that might be.

Going in through turnstile G.

Does anyone know if you can take drinks in?

Pisssssedofff · 25/05/2016 14:02

I did to take that I think ? Or maybe I skulled them outside can't quite remember

ExitPursuedByADonkey · 25/05/2016 14:16

We will be there about 5.30 so if bags are being searched I may have to drink my cans of G&T in the car park.

Pisssssedofff · 25/05/2016 14:40

Wouldn't be the first time eh 😂

TrivLiv · 25/05/2016 16:02

I had a first date at a Springsteen concert back in 99.

17 years (with now DH) and 2 DC later I can vouch for it be an excellent first date.
Enjoy.

Home. Wow. But I have to say the acoustics were shit. And much as I Iove him he seemed to lose it a bit in Born to Run. But my goodness the energy of the man.

And I definitely would Wink

Pisssssedofff · 26/05/2016 07:24

Never mind that .... How was the date ??

srtajuanita · 26/05/2016 12:44

Hello, I'm not going until June 5th.

Did everyone have a great time? Was there support? Xxx

ExitPursuedByADonkey · 26/05/2016 15:43

No support. He came on about 6.50 and went off about 10pm. He hardly paused between songs. Good review in the Telegraph today.

It's the first time I have been to a concert in a stadium and I don't think I would do it again. I found all the movement of people on the pitch very off putting, and it was chilly, and like I said up thread, the acoustics were non existent. I think I have been spoilt by The Royal Albert Hall. I suppose if you were in the mosh pit it would be very different. Where are you seeing him?

srtajuanita · 26/05/2016 17:09

Hi Exit

We're at Wembley, seated, and a looooong way back. Think the tickets were about £100 each, so hoping it's worth it.

At least, I'll always be able to say I've seen him!

Ours we're well over £100. Bloody expensive.

ImperialBlether · 26/05/2016 23:54

Hi Exit - whereabouts were you sitting. We were right at the top, in G block.

I thought the set list was fantastic. Last time I went, though, two or three years ago, everyone stood up for the whole show. Most people near me only stood for Born to Run and the next couple of songs.

I really felt for him, though - I feel more and more he's carrying the band. Not sure whether that's because of the screens - I couldn't see the centre one so you'd assume he was virtually the only one on stage. The new sax player's good, but it's just not the same, is it? He can't hit those notes and he can't hold them, either. When Bobby Jean was on I was watching Springsteen's face and at the end, he just couldn't look happy about it.

We didn't get there until 7.30 because of traffic and having to walk for two miles to get there. I know it's in a residential area so assume they have to finish early, but a 6.30 start in the centre of Manchester seems crazy for anyone who has to travel.

I still thought it was an amazing concert, though. I paid about £80 per ticket, though - which ones were over £100?

ImperialBlether · 26/05/2016 23:55

I agree about the movement of people at ground level. It was the same where we were sitting - all going out to get chips and lager, ffs!

Pisssssedofff · 27/05/2016 07:33

Nobody had time to have tea first thiugh. I got there for 8.30 and didn't feel I'd missed anything

ExitPursuedByADonkey · 27/05/2016 07:48

8.30! You missed half the set.

I was sat in the middle tier probs just beneath you Imperial. Just in front of the private boxes filled with noisy people.

I bought some food on arrival and fainted at the price. But then I don't get out much.

Lots of people arrived late. Fortunately we had a lunatic taxi driver who broke the sound barrier down the back lanes through Woodhouses and Clayton Vale to get us there on time (whilst juggling 3 mobile phones).

ExitPursuedByADonkey · 27/05/2016 08:17

That should be sitting

Pisssssedofff · 27/05/2016 09:13

I only knew ; songs and heard them all I was happy 😁

ImperialBlether · 27/05/2016 10:57

Only knew which songs?

What was the opener, do you know?

ExitPursuedByADonkey · 27/05/2016 12:44

Crikey I can't remember. Will ask DH. It too me a while to recognise some songs as the sound was not brilliant.

IdaShaggim · 27/05/2016 12:48

I was in the mosh pit... This close when he went to the side stages during Hungry Heart. Blimmin excellent.

IdaShaggim · 27/05/2016 12:51

Agree about the sound quality though, it wasn't great. And I don't think they had the levels correct for him either, often seemed like his voice was drowned out. Loved the Santa Claus rendition though, never thought I'd hear him sing that live!!

burnishedsilver · 27/05/2016 12:57

He's showing is age in that photo ida. He obviously hasn't been following caroline hirons routine.Grin

IdaShaggim · 27/05/2016 13:11

He is Grin And given how grey his stubble was, I thought his hair and eyebrows were suspiciously brown!! I still would though

Pisssssedofff · 27/05/2016 13:21

Openly admitted they all need viagra these days though lol
