What's your beauty tip for those who don't want to look like Groucho Marx?

libertydoddle · 31/05/2016 23:10

I recommend a Spring facial hair threading tool amber!! Various brands for £2 on Amazon, tweezerman do a swanky version if you'd like to spend £20 instead.

Pondering what to wear tomorrow. Have early meetings meaning a trek into central London in the rain then racing home for lunchtime play date. The exciting life I lead....

shopafrolic · 01/06/2016 08:01

love these. Especially the Superstars

libertydoddle · 01/06/2016 08:30

So I am wearing the Uniqlo culottes again! I need more of these I think.

shop they are v you. I like that you can customise them.

Another rubbish day in London. Envy for those of you who live to the north and west. Enjoy the sunshine! Smile

LinusLovesBretons · 01/06/2016 08:36

Morning!

The Hush Monaco trousers have arrived and they are quite nice.

They're not going to win any prizes for being on trend, but they seem like a pair you just throw on instead of jeans.

I will have to play around with tops to see which looks best and probably shoes as well.

VivaVegas · 01/06/2016 11:10

Rubbish weather here too and so annoying as I have the week off for half term with the plan to just chill out and about local with the DC. The reality is its more chilly than chill, very disappointing, although at least I'm not at work! We generally go away either May or October half term and chose October this year, it'll probably be really warm here in October when we're away.
I need to try on my weekend and Outnet purchases again and decide what to keep and what needs to go back, I don't feel the love for the sandals at the moment because I feel like I'll not be wearing them at this rate.
Anyhow about to wrap up and head out for a few hours to get some fresh air and wear the DC out! Jeans, converse, sweatshirt and jacket required!

HappyGirlNow · 01/06/2016 14:57

Hi all! Fabulous weather up here in Scotland for once.. I brought the sun back from Italy Grin

Off all this week, back at work Monday boo On plus side, I've just got a lovely generous bonus from work, so finalising my 'treat list' Grin

Topazandpearl · 01/06/2016 15:37

The good weather is hanging on here, although I know it won't be for long.

Yesterday I took DD shopping for a dress for her graduation. It seems no time since I was buying her a coat to keep her warm!

I saw a woman wearing this Zara coat. It inspired me to give it a go.

I also bought this Linen top and Cotton top. I was glad to find tops I like in natural fibres.

I have these Boden skirts in navy and ecru on order. If they work out, I should have my summer wardrobe sorted!

libertydoddle · 01/06/2016 16:31

OMG Topaz I remember that coat hunt. Shock that she is about to graduate! Lovely buys, let me know how the Boden skirts work out. I have pinned that yellow blouse as a 'maybe'...

Happy looking forward to hearing about your 'treats' - well done on the bonus.

FedupNagging · 01/06/2016 17:01

Yup, awful weather here too - 2 solid days of rain Sad

Great purchases Topaz, loving the stripe top. Will definitely give the gel nail varnish go; will check out the colours when I'm next in Boots.

Happy please send the sun down this way; excellent news on the bonus, can't wait to see your purchases.

I have no news, fashion or otherwise but thought I'd pop in to see you all anyway. Maybe I'll do some fantasy shopping if I get time later.

Back to winter here Sad glad I had my camel coat dry cleaned.

Off to city shopping with DD tomorrow, hoping to see Blair's Zara red tweed jacket.

Topazandpearl · 01/06/2016 18:42

I saw and liked Blair's Zara jacket, Dry. I tried it on but the pocket placement was problematic on me (norks Blush).

BlairWaldorfLovesShopping · 01/06/2016 19:52

I may not keep the jacket, I haven't decided yet but it is very similar to my new Ted Baker one which is much nicer. It also might be a bit boxy for me. It's a medium in case anyone might be interested.

Just been to see my dermatologist and feel all happy and glowy. Eternal thanks to Lara for the recommendation Smile (where is Lara?)

QueenC · 02/06/2016 07:21

Morning. Just getting ready for work whilst the rest of the house sleeps. Quite nice really Grin. No idea what to wear. Yesterday's outfit didn't work-navy trousers, gap patterned blouse and cobalt cardi. I love all 3 items but not together. Think the blouse works better with jeans.
topaz that Å·ellow blouse is cute and I really like the coat too.
blair which colour zara jacket did you get? The navy or red?

Weather here is cold too but at least it's dry. Hoping for sun tomorrow as off for a family trip to a theme park and a night in a hotel.

libertydoddle · 02/06/2016 07:32

I have woken up with a cold Sad got through winter without a sniffle and now on 2nd June I have sore throat and bunged up head

Blair same question from me re the jacket. If it's the navy I think definitely return the Zara one as the Ted Baker jacket is much nicer.

Dreamqueen · 02/06/2016 08:09

Lib a cold in June is really horrible. lots of paracetamol and rest is my advice.
It's very cold here again today. i wore my Uniqlo culottes with brogues yesterday & had freezing legs all day.
I'm making a rare attempt at the gym this morning. I used to go quite regularly but admit to not having been 6 times this year. I need to up my game.
I've also got an Asos parcel to collect & then I'm going to imposes a spending ban for the remainder of the summer. After my TF Glasses purchase last week, I ordered 3 more pairs of glasses frames from TK Maxx (preparing for when I need new glasses after Christmas) I really don't need anymore summer clothes especially if summer is like today.

shopafrolic · 02/06/2016 08:42

Poor you Lib hope to clears quickly.
Off to the zoo today to meet some of DS' school friends. I will be wearing layers.
Listed loads of stuff on EBay yesterday - mainly GAP khakis - I went a bit overboard on them - 6 pairs listed that I no longer wear or no longer fit.

Stokey · 02/06/2016 09:13

Hello MNers, just catching up while away, weather and Wi-Fi mixed.

Totally with you about WIT Blair. As a real journalist, badly subbed copy and printing press releases verbatim are personal bugbears.

Hope you're feeling better Lib. It was miserable here (west) yesterday too. We had a babysitter and went out for pish dinner but I hadn't brought any shoes I could wear with tights so was in navy All Saints dress and silver Boden ghillies, I froze!

Looks like the weather is improving somewhat today though, I'm in active wear, nuff said.

Drywhitethanks · 02/06/2016 10:53

6 pairs of Gap Khakis Shop Grin that's fantastic!
Liberty I always get a cold this time of year because I get excited about summer and strip off too early. Hope you feel better soon.

So now I have my red loafers Does My bum look 40 has stopped wearing hers metallic loafer/mules are her latest and I need inspiration to lazy to scroll back

Anyway I'm giving them their first outing today, OOTD:
Balck and White stripy l/s top under the Uniqlo black cardi Fedup found me on MU day.
Jimmies
Red Office loafers
MD Camel coat
Black Gucci disco
VEST!

Still freezing here

maradesbois · 02/06/2016 10:54

Hello,

Sorry I've been awol, drowning in uni work and forgetting my priorities!

Stokey Grin at pish dinner. Glad your hols are going well despite the pish weather. Am out tonight, really don't want to wear jeans, don't have any smart trousers and don't want to wear tights so in a quandary.

Had a quick scan back through last few pages but can't find link to Blair's Zara jacket you're all talking about. Could you relink? Lots of nice looking blue and white striped stuff in Zara atm, dsis has two tie-front tops I will link that are really nice but she said they used the same material in skirts and trousers which is far too thin.

Trying to work on a paper and book summer hols, we are always so last minute, need to get better but hate the idea of planning life a year in advance. No half term here this week but am wfh today waiting for a delivery of something v expensive and impractical that dh has been doing Hmm faces about buzzkill. Will link when it turns up if any good.

libertydoddle · 02/06/2016 11:32

I think it's changing the bedding that did it Dry. I aired and bagged up the duvets last week and swapped over to summer weight cotton bedspreads and woke up feeling cold a couple of times this week. Have had Lempsip and lots of tea while wrapped up in trackkies and cashmere this morning but now I have to change and venture out of the house for a meeting...not happy Sad. Think I'll have to wear opaques...IN JUNE Shock it's a travesty.

Mara you need my DH in your life - all our holidays are booked at least 9 months in advance. I wouldn't bother but he has to know what's happening. He's already asking me about options for Spring 2017 and we have 3 breaks already booked to happen before then.

BlairWaldorfLovesShopping · 02/06/2016 11:48

Morning!

Dry that outfit sounds EXTREMELY chic.

This is the Zara jacket, it is the red one, I don't know why the first pic shows red and blue. I have a very long torso and think it's a bit short for me - I was imagining a nice relaxed length like Linus's gorgeous Chanel. But on me it's just a tad boxy. Plus the fabric pulls very easily.

Mara we haven't booked our summer trip yet either. Where are you looking to go? Ours will be New York for my birthday in August, does anyone have any hotel recs?

Lib poor you, hope the cold is over quickly. It's just typical when you haven't been ill in winter. Hope you're feeling better about your wardrobe too... you should, it's fab (as are everyones) :)

AmberNectarine · 02/06/2016 11:57

I have a cold too lib. Haven't had one for about 3y! Am ignoring it though as the kids are away and DH and I are heading into the city for shopping, cocktails at the Shard and some sort of evening fun.

What to wear...?

Stokey · 02/06/2016 12:21

Ha meant posh dinner! Service turned out pish though!

Topazandpearl · 02/06/2016 12:43

Blair we stayed in the Hotel Giraffe a couple of years ago and can really recommend it. Handy location, great service and room. Good (muesli, fruit, pastries) breakfast and happy hour included. Would love to be going back!
