Come and chat about fashion, make up and anything glittery and frivolous. We'll take your bad hair day seriously and you never have to apologise for a new bag Grin

And if you happen to know where I can find comfortable but stylish trainers in kakhi or dark brown you are particularly welcome (Blatant abuse of thread setting up privileges) Wink

Ok have listened to Dry and Fedup about the trainers (not that I don't believe you Amber!). Found a flash spray with bleach under the sink which has cleaned the leather and soles up a treat. Will wash the laces and hopefully that will give me a battered but clean look. Going to put the money that would have been spent on new onestowards some tan leather tod's instead.

QueenC I initially read that as you sedated yourself Shock Grin

My Pettys have arrived & I'm rather disappointed. I can't even get my foot into the size 4 (my usual size) and the 5 feel ok except for when I walk & then I feel that my heel is slipping up & down with each step. Don't know whether to keep them or not. I like them but they might just get too loose when they stretch a bit Sad

libertydoddle · 14/04/2016 07:16

Don't keep them dream. They don't sound right for you.

de-lurking briefly! Dreamqueen I feel your disappointment with the pettys, I find the US half sizes actually correspond more to what I would consider UK sizing, e.g. I'm a UK5, and found the US7 tight which most places (including ASOS) sell as a UK5, but the US8 I was swimming in.

Net a Porter are the only place I have found who stock half sizes which are in stock most of the time (and their size guide also puts the half sizes as corresponding to whole UK sizes too). For me the US7.5 is perfect for a UK5, so for you maybe the US6.5 would suit?

Unfortunately though, not on sale!

Dreamqueen · 14/04/2016 08:00

Thanks Loulou and Liberty for your advice. I'll return & stick with my trusty All Saints boots for the moment until I work myself up to spending ££ on Pettys from Net a Porter.

Dreamqueen · 14/04/2016 08:04

My other purchase this dress is perfect for my hols. I might get it in white also.

libertydoddle · 14/04/2016 08:12

Very pretty dress Dream.

Welcome loulou. Great sizing tip - I'll remember that. I always struggle with US shoes sizes.

Pretty dress Dream shame about the Pettys. I can still only wear mine with thin popsocks -gets thrown off MNV for mentioning pop socks- Blush

Soyyo that's really interesting about what people from around the globe wear to wear and their interpretation of smart/casual/chic.

After reading what I wrote about my work/sahm wardrobe I endeavour to wear more of my work tops on a casual basis, I have some nice Me&Em ones I only wear for work but would look good with jeans too and I should wear them more often.

KittyHello · 14/04/2016 13:48

Oops strikethrough fail

SoyYo · 14/04/2016 14:40

liberty so very kind of you to ask me to the MU meeting Thank You!!Flowers
Would have been so nice to meet you all but I will be somewhere near Bergerac then on the back of DH Harley on the way to Aragon and probably regretting saying yes to such a crazy idea so sorry I cannot make it!

SoyYo · 14/04/2016 14:46

Glad you found my work dress code musing interesting, I have such a meeting coming up end of May in Paris, 4 manic days with 100 people from around the globe so will report back on my "colleague watching" its quite fun!
Dream really like your dresses, great buy!

Longislandicetee · 14/04/2016 21:27

Evening!

I like to break all the work dress rules. Dh called my look "sexy professional" this morning when I was wearing this this Me&Em dress. With my short legs and E cup boobs the dress looks very different on meGrin. Yesterday was this Roland Mouret dress which I loved. I decided to go all matchy matchy in blue so I have been wearing my sapphire bracelet and ring and using my Balenciaga bag.

Talking of dresses, I have given up on this red Me&Em dress which looks lovely on the model, and doesn't look good on me! It's in my "WTAF were you thinking" pileGrin

HappyGirlNow · 14/04/2016 21:35

Ah... More bikers SoyYo Grin - thought you might've been heading to the Aragon MotoGP but that's September...

Dreamqueen · 14/04/2016 21:40

Blingy I've got your blue Meandem dress in black. I really like it even though I'm nothing like the model. I'm short and slightly chubby. Quite chubby.
Shame about the red one. I nearly bought it but now I'm glad that I didn't.

Longislandicetee · 14/04/2016 21:44

Dream good tasteGrin you didn't miss out on the red one, believe me! I am slim but short and norky and that doesn't work for the dress.

AmberNectarine · 14/04/2016 22:02

Am in midst of a serious shoe dilemma. Send wine.

It's ok to take five pairs for 24h away right?

FedupNagging · 15/04/2016 08:24

Grin Amber, never knowingly underpacked!

Waves to Blingy, nice to see you. Gorgeous balenciaga bag. Swing dresses can be tricky to pull off if you have boobs and are vertically challlenged - I have a couple but need to be careful with the bra I wear under.

Lib I'm coming to the MU - thanks for organising.

maradesbois · 15/04/2016 10:04

Morning!

Yay Fedup will be great to see you again.

Am studying fh (on sofa, with big mug of Darjeeling and my cashmere blanket, still feeling a bit spaced and wiped out but won't bore on about it).

Amber that's crazy, sort it out! Sending you some crisp rosé down (or up?) river.

dream defo send the pettys back, its a shame but you won't wear them. Love the asos holiday dress.

Question, I really need a small/medium sized bag. Am in love with this and would appreciate thoughts? I know its small but that's not the issue, am more concerned about paying a lot for something that may date quickly as like to keep my bags for years.

Also very tempted by this to use as a summer clutch. I love lemons!

KittyHello · 15/04/2016 11:05

Love the summer clutch Mara such a fun bag, re: the tan bag I like it, in fact I'm after a tan cross body bag myself, do you think it will date? It looks fairly classic to me.

Lib I'm still coming to MU, can't wait.

Yes Soyyo please update up on your colleagues outfits, shame we won't get to meet you at this MU, perhaps at the next one?

Blingy lovely to see you back on here, love the Balenciaga, shame about the red dress, but yeay to sexy professional, I bet that put a spring in your step this morning Wink

Just been to the gym so no ootd yet from me, raining again so sahm uniform it is then Confused

What's everyone's plans for the weekend?

justasecond · 15/04/2016 12:53

dreamqueen its worth checking on shopbop for pettys. They do half sizes, I got mine from there. Don't think they are any cheaper with taxes than nap but keep an eye out for a code ( I think one just expired) then you pay about the price shown in pounds.
Mara I think the Georgia is a classic style with minimal hardware and tan is also a classic colour so I don't think it will date. Also didn't look too small I think you could fit more in it than the mini marcie.
Love your work dresses Blingy and that balenciaga is gorgeous!

Dreamqueen · 15/04/2016 13:38

Thanks for all the Pettys advice.

I'm working out how to get to MU. It sounds like a lot of fun.

Drywhitethanks · 15/04/2016 13:40

Mara I really like the Chloe Georgia, thinks it's fairly classic so doubt it will date.

Amber if you are driving bung them all in......

maradesbois · 15/04/2016 14:28

Tks for bag advice, have given up the study for the day, deadline is not close enough for me to get my arse properly back into gear after the hols, on my way into town for some ss inspiration. Will report back!

Blingy agree with your dh about sexy professional! And that the red one is wrong, you need fitted and body skimming like the blue one, think loose is too girlish for your style.

Dream would be fab to meet you if you can make it.

Drywhitethanks · 15/04/2016 16:40

Was in Primarni today and their non slip hangers are reduced to £2.90 for 10 at the moment Incase anyone needs to stock up. I bought 20.

FedupNagging · 15/04/2016 17:06

Mara I love, love the lemon clutch so hope you're out making a purchase! The chloe is lovely too and I think a classic so will last.

Hope you manage to make the MU Dream - it's great seeing the faces behind the fashion!

Yes, I need felt hangers so may head to Primark - usually get mine from TK but they snap really easily or am I just heavy handed?
