And still aren't loosing weight ?
It's not even funny.
I've been doing the fitness pal diet tracking, I always come in under calories but around 1500 a day.
I'm 5'9" and 11 stone so a good size 12 but i want to be a comfortable one instead. I really can't think what else to do, am body pumping and spinning once a week too.

You're in your ideal weight. It's hard to lose weight when you're in your ideal weight.

Newbrummie · 15/03/2016 20:25

I have a roll of flab on my tummy that's actually uncomfortable when i sit down and my jeans are really tight, I hate it I really do.

Do the 30 Day Shred. You won't lose weight but you will be much more toned and that's the only thing that actually matters once you're a healthy weight.

TurnOffTheTv · 15/03/2016 20:27

I'm 5'5 and 11 stone in a size 12. I'm constantly amazed at these threads, how can we be the same size but you're 4 inches taller??

TurnOffTheTv · 15/03/2016 20:28

And you probably just need to do some weights/hiit training rather than lose weight.

Kirriemuir · 15/03/2016 20:30

You may need more exercise but if you are like me you just accept it. I am 5'7 and 10.5 stone. I have a section tummy. It won't go. I don't eat sugar and I drink minimal alcohol. I also exercise 3 or 4 times a week.

Jaimx86 · 15/03/2016 20:31

I'd be bloody miserable :)

There are plenty of other foods out there (that you're possibly eating) that can cause weight problems.

ChocolateRaisin · 15/03/2016 20:31

What are you eating in a day? Could you give an example of a daily food diary.

A lot of it is likely to be what you're eating. At your height and weight there should definitely be scope for you to lose fat.

You may need to up your exercise as well. 2 classes a week won't be making a significant difference.

leadrightfoot · 15/03/2016 20:33

Similar situation I tried to drop to 1300 calories a day just got grumpy. I changed up my exercise and did 4 lots a week.

ScarlettDarling · 15/03/2016 20:34

turnofftheTV I'm 5'11", 10 stone 7 and size 12. Go figure that one!!

burnishedsilver · 15/03/2016 20:34

Twice a week isn't enough exercise. Do something most days.

Kirriemuir · 15/03/2016 20:36

Oh and you are a healthy weight.

HopIt · 15/03/2016 20:40

I lost weight when I ate more. Id ended up eating so little (under 1200 calories a day) i did a bit of research when I was diagnosed with PCOS and came across someone who was better when they ate more, so I did and it blooming worked! I lost weight and it controlled my PCOS symptoms.
I still need to tone up though, which it sounds like you do. I keep thinking of starting Pilates - thinking is as far as I get though

Newbrummie · 15/03/2016 20:41

I'm trying to get back into the exercise thing, I did used to be really good and do something each day.
I think looking at the fitness pal thing I eat well. A couple of weaknesses I do like my lattes, but i'm still within the calorie range.

Breakfast I have a protein shake, lunch some sort of sandwich, half an avocado, eggs or something. Dinner will be steak and veg, cottage pie (home made, sweet potato on top and veg). I then go to bed (with my hands tied behind my back) and sip water.
Literally the only thing i've never counted when entering the data into fitness pal is cups of tea, surely that isn't my undoing ?

Tough one! I wouldn't worry too much about dress size tbh. I am 5'8" and have been as light as 9 stone 3 (fwiw I am currently much, much heavier, but that's neither here nor there). I never could get below a size 12. I had the odd size 10 thing in my wardrobe, but it was unusual to find a 10 that fit and sometimes, even at my lightest, I would find some size 12 clothes too tight - especially trousers. Weird. Think it's because I have a big frame maybe? Maybe you're the same.

Have you tried posting in Weight Loss?

Kirriemuir · 15/03/2016 20:47

Protein shake is not enough st breakfast.

Ditch the bread at lunch

Dinner sounds ok.

You don't need to lose weight though. Tone up may but it depends on your thoughts.

LazyCake · 15/03/2016 20:47

I have had virtually no cakes, sweets or booze since Christmas, but have been disappointed to see very little in the way of weight loss or improvements to my skin. I think what's going is this: whenever I fancy a packet of crisps, wodge of brie or big slice of bread slathered in butter, I tell myself, 'you are being so good avoiding the sugar/alcohol, a little savoury snack every now and then won't do any harm...' Might you be doing something similar? Your daily calorie count sounds pretty low, but maybe there's something else in your diet that your metabolism doesn't get on with? Gluten? Dairy?

TurnOffTheTv · 15/03/2016 20:47

Honestly, you need to be doing exercise. I did hiit training for six months three times a week, I stayed the same weight but dropped two dress sizes.

TurnOffTheTv · 15/03/2016 20:48

And definitely no protein shake for breakfast!

Kirriemuir · 15/03/2016 20:48

Do you drink enough water.

You could be intolerant to milk, I've the lattes.

Room101isWhereIUsedToLive · 15/03/2016 20:50

Rather than normal tea, try drinking green tea or white tea?

Newbrummie · 15/03/2016 20:56

i'm going to ditch the lattes at the end of the month when i've used up my joe and juice card, if that doesn't work i despair !!
I'll up the exercise too and report back in case anyone else is in a similar position. It's just so frustrating because I know at just 10 stone 6lb's the difference is remarkable.

A small skimmed milk latte is very different to a large full fat one with sugar. Which do you choose? Although really either is a waste of calories you could be eating in something more filling and healthy. Switch to Americanos with skimmed or semi-skinned if you need a caffeine hit and eat a banana instead.

A protein shake doesn't sound enough for breakfast, start the day with some good carbs like porridge which will fill you up.

But, really, like PP, more exercise than you're doing.

louloubelle2 · 15/03/2016 21:15

Wow, just looked and a large full fat latte from Costa is 274 calories, a small skimmed one 79. Thats without sugar or those sickly caramel toppings too.

250 odd calories is almost another meal.

ChocolateRaisin · 15/03/2016 21:19

I think you need to make some changes to your diet.

Much bigger breakfast with protein if poss (eggs ideally). Porridge and fruit would be better than a protein shake.

Mid morning snack of 1-2 carrots and 1.5 tbsp hummus.

For lunch, protein (150g of chicken/ salmon/ turkey), sweet potato (approx 1 cup) and green veg/ raw spinach and tomatoes.

For dinner have protein (approx 150g chicken/ turkey/ steak/ pork fillet/ salmon/ tuna) and steamed green veg. Minimum 3l water a day.

Increase exercise to 4x a week.

You should definitely start to see a difference.
