And still aren't loosing weight ?
It's not even funny.
I've been doing the fitness pal diet tracking, I always come in under calories but around 1500 a day.
I'm 5'9" and 11 stone so a good size 12 but i want to be a comfortable one instead. I really can't think what else to do, am body pumping and spinning once a week too.

Also - gosh, sorry to bang on about your drinks, I keep pressing send without remembering everything I wanted to say - you mentioned you don't include you cups of tea, even without sugar, you're looking at around 30-50 calories a cup (or massive mug if you're like me). Four of those will add another 200 cals on, so just on your tea and coffee alone you could be adding 4-500 calories to your intake.

It's bloody awful to be strict with the details, but this is where most people slip up. That and the "I've been so good, this slice of cake/chips/takeaway is my reward" type thing.

Also (and I won't come back I promise), an exercise class at full pelt only burns off 4-600 calories, so don't use that as a treat excuse either.

Really good luck, I've been there. Let us know how you get on.

bialystockandbloom · 15/03/2016 21:31

Have you tried the 5:2? It was the only thing that made a significant difference to my belly.

bialystockandbloom · 15/03/2016 21:32

And you can eat and drink much more pleasurably on your days off!

XiCi · 15/03/2016 22:47

Your diet seems quite carb heavy. The difference in the weight on my stomach when I eat bread, potatoes and wheat based products like pasta is unbelievable . Cutting out wheat made a massive difference to my stomach and that's still eating lovely things like butter, cheese, cream based sauces etc. I'd recommend the book wheat belly here www.amazon.co.uk/gp/aw/d/0008118922/ref=mp_s_a_1_1?qid=1458081403&sr=8-1&pi=SY200_QL40&keywords=wheat+belly&dpPl=1&dpID=51iSxA7Q4bL&ref=plSrch

Also a cup of tea with skimmed milk is only 10 calories, 0 calories if drunk black

DamsonInDistress · 16/03/2016 08:19

Are you weighing every single gram of food and drink that goes into your mouth and using verified days or data from the actual packets you use? If not then it's your logging that's likely to be the problem. If you're underestimating by day 15-20% (which is probably itself an underestimate) then you're having around 200-300 cals a day that you haven't logged. You're also probably vastly overestimating your exercise burn which could account for another 150-200cals. MyFitnessPal works when it's used properly but if you're at the very edge of your CICO equation then it's even more important to be completely accurate with weighing, measuring and logging. Good luck.

2016Hopeful · 16/03/2016 12:16

I actually think that if you add more exercise you will end up eating more. I would add more snacks but take out bread.

So something like porridge and fruit or egg and bacon with mushrooms for breakfast

Snack - cut up carrots, celery with low fat dip or banana

Lunch - Salad with filling stuff in like avocado or chicken, or soup, or sweet potato jacket with low fat filling

Snack- Protein shake or fruit

Dinner - normal dinner (but an average portion with no seconds and no pud!)

Only drink water or hot drinks that contain no sugar!

2016Hopeful · 16/03/2016 12:18

I did no exercise in Jan but had a problem with my jaw so wasn't easy to eat and I was feeling rubbish! I lost nearly 1 stone!!!! I am making up for it now though might try and follow my own advice before I put the weight back on again!!!

LuckySantangelo1 · 16/03/2016 12:29

TurnOffTheTv I'm the same height as you, weigh 1.5 stone less than you but am also a size 12! It's weird hey!

msrisotto · 16/03/2016 12:29

What you look like is 80% diet and 20% exercise, but if you're building muscle, that is heavier than fat remember.

I am the same height as you and lost about a stone over the last 6 months/ year by cutting out sugar and i've never drunk alcohol really anyway. All the weight came off my stomach and hips so I was pretty happy that sugar was the bugger for me. There is loads of 'hidden' sugars in drinks, that's the biggest thing i've learned so it might be the lattes which are hindering your progress.

Have you looked at the micronutrients tab in MFP? That shows you how much carbs/fat/protein you're eating and making a small change there might help. People have different balances as to what proportion works for them.

I too don't like the sound of the protein shake breakfast. Breakfast needs to be the biggest meal of the day (breakfast like a king, lunch like a prince, dinner like a pauper).

Finally, portion size. Your meals can be healthy as you like but if you're eating too much in general, you won't lose.

msrisotto · 16/03/2016 12:34

How long have you been doing this for OP?

Twinkie1 · 16/03/2016 12:55

You need to do HIIT training to shed weight and build muscle which will increase your metabolism. A couple of classes a week is really not going to make a big difference.

I used to do 12 hours of cardio a week but saw immediate results doing HIIT training on the treadmill. Now I spend 4 hours a week exercising and have shed 9 inches in 9 weeks.

Concentrate on inches rather than weight too.

RedMapleLeaf · 16/03/2016 13:01

You need to do HIIT training to shed weight and build muscle

That's not quite true, you don't need to do HIIT in order to shed weight or build muscle. You need a calorie deficit to lose fat. You can build muscle in many other ways, such as weight-lifting.

Kirriemuir · 16/03/2016 13:15

My biggest recommendation is to step anyway from anything low fat or classed as food for a diet. Just eat good unprocessed food. Fat will keep you full.

Newbrummie · 16/03/2016 13:45

This the thing that gets me, we have no processed food in the house, I'm even a bit loathed to eat a sausage or a bit of bacon.
I agree with the breakfast thing not being ideal but I have 4 kids to get out the house for 7.45am it's a killer, frankly a cuppa is pushing it some days.
This weight has creeped on over the last year, I do think lack of exercise is a major contributor because I was going to the gym most days this time last year and having several lattes a day with no consequences.
It's so annoying I signed up to a gym that's a 20 minute drive, I'm such a tit at times.

TurnOffTheTv · 16/03/2016 13:46

Lucky How can that even be?? People's bodies are just bonkers. When I was 9.5 stone I was an 8/10.

Newbrummie · 16/03/2016 13:47

The inches is the problem, I don't actually care what I weigh because I know it fluctuates in the month anyway it's this horrible roll of blubber (I haven't even had a caesarian I can blame).

OP posts:
Newbrummie · 16/03/2016 13:48

See I can be an size 8 at 10.5 stone so I don't have big bones either waaaaah

OP posts:
RedMapleLeaf · 16/03/2016 13:57

Are you sure that your roll is actually fat and not loose skin?

Newbrummie · 16/03/2016 14:11

Im not sure which is worse .... it doesnt dissapear completely though even when i'm skinny .... i'm doomed arent I ?

OP posts:
LaurieLemons · 16/03/2016 14:12

I'm your height and 10.5 stone no way am I a size 8 Confused

Have you tried cutting out carbs? Works amazingly for me but I find it too hard to maintain. I'm thinking exercise is your main problem. I'm on mat leave and eat 1500 calories a day but I barely move all day, if I ate less I feel like I'd be starving myself! When I was working (just walking around nothing particularly active) I didn't even bother counting lol I ate loads.

ICanSeeForMiles · 16/03/2016 14:16

I'm 5'5, 10st 3 and a size 12....its just bemusing. I need to get off my arse and do more intensive exercise though.

Twinkie1 · 16/03/2016 15:45

I know you don't NEED to do HIIT Redmaple and there are other ways but it's the quickest way to tone up and drop weight as it means you burn fat for longer afterwards than with conventional exercise.

Sammysquiz · 16/03/2016 16:10

I think with regards to the discrepancies with people's sizes/weights that it's hard to say what size you are as it varies so much between shops. I'm the same height & weight as you and am size 10 in some shops & size 14 in others.

HootOnTheBeach · 16/03/2016 16:12

I would say start weight training. If you've plateaued then you need some radical change

lorelei9 · 16/03/2016 16:25

OP, just as a note, I am losing weight and haven't found cutting carbs or sugar made any difference to the rate of loss, though wasn't eating a lot of them.

You are a healthy weight though which also makes me think exercise, Pilates or some such might suit if it is core muscles you are thinking of.

I never think in terms of size, shop sizes vary too much to be useful.

A pp talked about HIIT three times a week, I'd love to know which particular workout it is. I am a daily exerciser as I need to do it for my brain and I haven't enjoyed HIIT but maybe the one at my gym is too fierce.
