What's The Palest Foundation available?

EmbroideryQueen · 16/02/2016 01:54

I have very very pale cool coloured skin and need a new foundation. Nearly all the standard brands make me look orange or are too red. The best colours I've found so far are by Bourjois and Seventeen, which have slight yellow undertones, which is an improvement at least, but they are still too yellow so I find myself using only a very small amount and blending a lot.

Can anyone recommend a very pale non-orange medium coverage foundation for under about £30?

Thanks!

Ar! The thread isn't refreshing properly for me...

Anyway, Lily Lolo is also on my list.

Kat Von D also on list.

Rimmel doesn't work for me I'm afraid!

Leichner I will take a look at.

Thanks everyone!

NARS - Siberia
Bobbi Brown Alabaster
Lancome 070 or 050
Mac- think it's NW10

EmbroideryQueen · 20/02/2016 22:41

Oh yes, I'm beginning to wonder if I do have pink undertones or if I'm wrong about that!? I think my skin actually looks quite blue / lilac rather than pink? But the lady in YSL pointed out that in the more tanned areas around the back of my neck / joints it is quite yellowish..... Plus the NARS Siberia and Bobby Brown Alabaster which looked best are also fairly yellow. So am I pink undertones, yellow or neutral... Or a mix in different areas?

Bobbi Brown in Porcelain is actually quite pinky. I find it's almost too pale for me but the next shade up is too dark. But I don't like any of their foundations- except for the shades. I have tried a few and find even though they are the same shade, the different formulas come up a slightly different colour- eg the stick foundation in Porcelain is more yellow than the Skin Foundation.

I was said to be neutral by the Estee Lauder counter.

Currently using Dior 101 ( neutral) but even that is a shade too dark for me.

I don't think you will get a perfect match at all AND a perfect texture! I haven't. The best I can get is half a shade too dark in he type of foundation I like.

ALaughAMinute · 20/02/2016 23:02

You've also got to decide what kind of coverage you're looking for. I've just checked and the Kat Von D foundation I use to cover my c section scar is number 42 and it's really, really light with no pink or yellow undertones in it so you might want to look at a slightly darker shade. If you put Kat Von D foundation shades into google images you'll see what I mean.

ALaughAMinute · 20/02/2016 23:05

Forgot to say that Estée Lauder Double wear and Kat Von D are both high coverage foundations so they might be too much. It depends what you're looking for.

hollinhurst84 · 20/02/2016 23:24

I think 115 and SB02 are equal shades just different names as they're different products? I have SB02 and SB03 if you want any swatched/questions
SB03 is too yellow for me, SB02 is perfect

EmbroideryQueen · 21/02/2016 00:25

PollyPerky I agree that finding the perfect colour and texture in the same foundation will be very hard! Yes, pity the BB Porcelein looked wrong on me.

ALaughAMinute I guess I'm looking for medium coverage?? I would hate to look 'caked' like some of the orange ladies behind department store counters. But equally, I do have blemishes I not to cover.

Hollinhurst84 I've googled swatches of Illamasqua 115 and 02, but I'm struggling to find a picture of them together.

OP posts:
EmbroideryQueen · 21/02/2016 00:27

Does anyone think any of those are the correct tone for my skin, which I could then lighten with Illamasqua pure white (intended for lightening)???

Is the furthest right blended one NARS Siberia? That seems to look the best match colour wise in daylight

hollinhurst84 · 21/02/2016 00:40

Might be worth picking a couple that you like and that seem to match the best and swatching and blending on jaw then go from there

hollinhurst84 · 21/02/2016 00:44

I forgot to add makeup forever do lots of pale shades, can't add photo as over image limit ha but if you google MUFE foundation swatches there's loads

Helenluvsrob · 21/02/2016 00:46

Dd uses the palest bare minerals powder foundation and translucent mineral veil.

Boots had nothing that wasn't comedy orange/ yellow to her skin. Infect the assistant wax a bit embarrassed. She was wearing some very badly. Matched foundation and admitted the only real pale match for her is a channel but she isn't allowed to wear it at work!

As dd is only. 16 and I'm paying we haven't looked at Chanel yet!

Nyancat · 21/02/2016 00:53

What double wear shade did you try, I've just got the cool bone one, even though their colour match said I was neutral, its probably the first one I've ever had that's pale enough on me.

EmbroideryQueen · 21/02/2016 01:42

Hollinhurst the far right blended one is Bobby Brown 00 Alabaster. Nars Siberia is the one on the far right make up pad, which they wouldn't give me a sample of! I can get away with BB Alabaster, but only because it's quite light coverage and seems to blend well.... I think that may end up being my backup shade if I find nothing better.

Ah yes, I'll put makeup forever on the shopping list too, thanks.

Helenluvsrob yes, some of the assistants do look very funny! It was discussed on another thread and apparently they are given strict instructions on what to wear and how to wear it.... Maybe it's "pick the wrong shade and cake it on to show how good the coverage is"!!?

I think it's a teenage rite of passage to go through orange foundation shades Wink

EmbroideryQueen · 21/02/2016 01:47

Nyancat I have written down Double Wear 010. My memory is that the assistant said it was the lightest one that would suit my skin tone, however I do agree that the bone ones look more suitable online.

hollinhurst84 · 21/02/2016 02:48

There's a online shop that does Kat Von d samples that might help

lucymootoo · 21/02/2016 02:48

How about the second lightest in revlon colourstay (150 buff) if Ivory isn't suited to you. I'm more yellow toned than pink so the 150 suits me perfect.

Have a Google image and see Smile I recommend the oily skin formula (I find its a much thinner consistency and easy to blend than the dry skin version)

hollinhurst84 · 21/02/2016 02:52

Two Korean ones
Top swatch is dollish veil vita in purple
Bottom is Missha perfect cover in #13

What's The Palest Foundation available?
squoosh · 21/02/2016 03:01

Missha in #13 is the perfect colour for me but I hate the formulation.

FellOutOfBedTwice · 21/02/2016 03:13

You can't be paler than me, I look like a ghost. Cliniques porcelain looks natural on me. I use the blemish fighting formulation at £25 but I'm sure they're all a similar price.

nickyschof · 21/02/2016 07:15

Barbara Daly in Tesco in porcelain is really pale.cant remember how much I paid but it was definitely under £10.

FrustratedFrugal · 21/02/2016 08:02

Squoosh I wish I could get the formulation of Dr Jart and the pale shade range of Misshas (#13 and#21) and leave out the perfume - that would probably be my dream base! If you don't like the thick gloopiness, have you tried Korean cushion compacts in shade #13? I used one last summer and it was featherlight and a breeze to apply.

Clinique does a Porcelain?

I used to always use a Clinique foundation but over recent years they have changed the colours, ditched the pale ones and they are all too dark. I used to love the old repair Wear in Alabaster- everyone used to ask what I was using as it had great coverage and looked natural- but the new version is pans- much darker and not so good coverage.

OP don't forget your forearm is not your face!

My face is pale- use sun block every day- but it's not the same colour as my arm or my chest.

You need to test on your jawline.
