What's The Palest Foundation available?

I have very very pale cool coloured skin and need a new foundation. Nearly all the standard brands make me look orange or are too red. The best colours I've found so far are by Bourjois and Seventeen, which have slight yellow undertones, which is an improvement at least, but they are still too yellow so I find myself using only a very small amount and blending a lot.

Can anyone recommend a very pale non-orange medium coverage foundation for under about £30?

Thanks!

have you looked at Laura Mercier? The palest shade is too pale for me (and a bit too pink.) Also Liz Earle in the palest shade was too pale.

If you buy Bobbi Brown online they will refund any foundations, powder etc that you try if they aren't right and you return.

I can't believe that Alabaster is too dark for you- it's almost white.

This is a perennial problem for me too OP, plus the fact that most of the big brands like Ilamasqua end up too heavy and chalky on my skin. Shu Uemura used to do the perfect very pale shade with a pink undertone in a beautiful texture then went and discontinued it; to this day I've not found a really good replacement.
Paul & Joe do a primer which works well if you don't mind light coverage (or you can mix it in to another foundation).
I tried one by Diego Dalla Palma in M&S quite recently which was promising - if you can get to a large store which stocks it it's worth a look.

Thanks for the cushion tip Frugal. I've heard of them but never tried one. Will investigate further!

I'll start replying to everyone now, but I'm tired so may not get around to everyone tonight...

Hollinhurst84 I've just ordered a sample of Kat Von D 42. I'll swatch when it arrives. It looks amazing.

Lucymootoo Revlon Colourstay 150 Buff is on the wrong scale of lightness for me - I found o nline swatches comparing it to one shade darker of the Bourjois one I swatched (pic is of 52, I swatched the 51) and I don't think there's any way it will be the right colour.

Hollinhurst84 & Squoosh
I'm fascinated by the Korean cosmetics as I'd never heard about it until a couple of days ago. I found a few interesting swatches of Missha 13....

This picture makes me think that Ilaamasqua will suit me better than Missha 13 as Illa. is less yellow than Missha.

^ to clarify, Skin Base 02 is the Illamasqua to which I was referring.

Felloutofbedtwice I'm struggling to find a swatch of Clinique Porcelein, though I'm still a bit confused over Clinique colours!

NickySchof I'll investigate, thanks.

FrustratedFrugal can you recommend a Korean one that's a bit less yellow than Missha 13? A less shiny cushion one would be fine, or anything up to a medium coverage but good for dry skin.

PollyPerky good point regarding the face colour. I was actually swatching on my chest.... My face is a bit darker, but there's no way I want to buy one the exact colour of my face and have to deal with blending a different coloured foundation to my neck or have the lollipop on stick face colour issue.... I'd rather go a tad lighter on my face and get away without blending lots onto my neck (plus between the redness and freckles my face is about the same colour as my chest) Wink.

Bobby Brown Alabaster was not too dark for me. In fact, I'd say it was pretty much perfect on the light - dark continuum, it was just too yellow for me (see my right most skin swatches).... I think I basically need something more lilac!

Good to know their customer service is good - the NARS return policy is shocking!

^oh, and thanks for the tip on Laura Mercier and Liz Earl.

BobtheBuddha yes, it's so annoying! Oh, sad to hear Illamasqua can go chalky... the textures I love tend to be the thinner ones as they seem to blend so well.

Thanks for the tip on the M&S one.

Barbara Daly at tescos does one in porcelain. A really pale colour.

kshaw · 12/12/2016 18:09

I buy boots number 7 mousse in in their palest - I'm ginger and am as pale as pale can be without actually being dead!!

BusterGonad · 13/12/2016 13:36

Have you tried Lancôme teint miracle on 005. It's so beautifully pale. I know you've tried another Lancôme one but the shades may differ slightly.

BusterGonad · 13/12/2016 13:44

I'm not sure that is the colour but I know they do a beautiful pale shade as I had a tester pot of it a few years ago.
