Omg my lumea is amazing!

My DH bought me a lumea for Christmas after years of listening to me whinge about my body and facial hair. I wasn't entirely convinced it would work well for me as although I am dark haired I also have olive skin and permenant sun tan but OMG is is a bloody revelation. I've only used it 3 times and I have barely any hair on my face or arm pits and my legs, which have hair like a mans, are only patchy and growing back very slowly. I cannot tell you how much this little thing is going to change my life! I am so hairy!

Does anyone else on here have a lumea?

I'm very tempted to invest in this for the bikini line alone- is it worth spending the extra for the attachment if that is really the only area I'll use it on?

RainOhJoyus · 30/01/2016 23:49

The bikini attachment as far as I'm aware, is the same strength as the full sized leg/body one just smaller so can do awkward areas. The face one has a filter in it. Although I've started using the body one on face thinking the filter was stopping some of the manic happening!

Scarydinosaurs · 31/01/2016 09:04

rain hmm might be worth the extra then, seeing as that's where I will be using it the most.

RainOhJoyus · 31/01/2016 09:25

I manage to use the bigger attachment on my face, and that's harder to get it to sit flat there than bikini line. You have to get the whole thing to be in contact before the safety comes off and it will fire Grin

I just saw it as a gimmick to put the price up £100
But whichever one you get , they're a great but of kit

NigellasGuest · 31/01/2016 09:27

How awkward are your areas though? I cope fine without attachment on my bikini line. It's true I have to get in a few weird positions but presumably you would anyway. Or is it because I'm 50 and have different ideas about bikini lines to the young uns!!

Badders123 · 31/01/2016 09:32

Is it ok.for people.with sensitive skin?

Scarydinosaurs · 31/01/2016 10:54

nigella images of yoga poses mixed with flashing hairdryer contraptions come to mind...

NigellasGuest · 31/01/2016 11:30

Scary that's pretty much it! Yoga with hairloss benefits Grin

Seeyounearertime · 31/01/2016 11:33

Have to say, though not a lumea, i love my Ilight Remington jobby.
The results are better than i hoped and i've only done 2 treatments so far.
I'm starting to appear human and not like a sub species of mountain gorilla.

Bodhicitta · 31/01/2016 15:12

I love my Lumea (and I'm someone who had to shave legs and underarms EVERY day!) it made such a difference that after trying mine, my mum bought one.
I don't shave my face to use it though. Honestly with your face you don't need to. I found that out off a lady I knew who does IPL for a living and she told me she never shaves clients faces and IPL is fine that way. So don't shave with Lumea, it will be fine.

CatatonicSonic · 31/01/2016 15:17

I bought one but am lazy and didn't keep up with using it so now it's sat in a drawer gathering dust after about 5 uses.

I'd say only buy one if you are prepared to use it. It did work really well but like I said, am lazy!

SmallLegsOrSmallEggs · 31/01/2016 15:33

You can get the lumea precision in Argos for £190. Is that the same or not as good?

BumWad · 31/01/2016 15:34

Right you know your colour chart? Why do the green numbers mean? I'm so tempted!

Palomb · 31/01/2016 16:41

The lumea has different settings 1-5 dependant on your skin tone and hair colour. I just just went straight in at 5 Blush I am really hairy. Stronger has to be better.

RainOhJoyus · 31/01/2016 23:11

small there are different types. look at the numbers like 2006, 2007 that will tell you how modern they are. phillips lumea comparison website tells you the difference between each one. The prices are the highest RRP, for example I got the 2007 for £225 with an RRP of £450.

The more flashes the better, just depends if you want cordless or corded, but the facial attachment is useful. Although I've stopped using mine now for my face.

Them have a look on camelcamelcamel to see lowest price and haev a google see what the prices are like on boots/argos etc

RainOhJoyus · 31/01/2016 23:12

palob I did the skin tests in a line! then went straight in at 5 too. Without the face filter, most sensitive part is underarms. Except the second time I thought this really doesn't hurt as much, was only on 1!

toomuchinternets · 01/02/2016 21:43

I do 5 everywhere except armpits I can't handle more than 2/3. HURT SO BAD!

MazzleDazzle · 03/02/2016 11:16

That's for the tip! I'm pregnant just now, but as soon as this baby's out and going for it. Have been dithering for a while, but your recommendation has convinced me!

MyBigVagina · 03/02/2016 12:58

Amazon have these quite frequently as part of their flash sales. I picked up the the top spec last years model (Philips Lumea Prestige SC2007/00) for £234 just before Christmas in one of these events. The top review on the Amazon page for the product is very helpful on deciphering the model numbers and what they mean.

cathyandclaire · 08/02/2016 08:48

the 2008 is down to 279.99 on Amazon at the moment...I may just have clicked without thinking Blush

Milliways · 11/02/2016 13:10

I have been reading all the threads I can find on these today, and have just ordered the 2009 for £300 from Philips online shop with a 25% discount code.

RockCrushesLizard · 29/02/2016 11:52

What was the code please or were did you find it Milliways?
I think I'm about to take the plunge!

Derbyday · 29/02/2016 20:39

I've been using mine for a few weeks now. Definite improvement on the face so I'm delighted. I've been zapping that weekly as I pluck 'em all out daily. Also doing armpits but difficult to see if there's any change. I've done the bikini area a few times but too early to tell I think. There might be a couple of patches of reduced growth or I might be imagining it. Overall the face alone makes it worth the cost. Can't be bothered with legs, too much real estate there.

Maladicta · 29/02/2016 20:44

LOVE mine - it's made such a difference to my face especially. Think bikini line will take a while alas.

Got a NoNo when they were TSV on QVC but am sending it back - managed to burn my lip edge.

Mrs9C · 29/02/2016 21:01

I've wanted one of these for so long, the only model I could potentially save for is the hand held Philips one. It's corded, but it also does facial hair. I'm pale with black hair, so ideal for this, but hair grows so fast that I would have to shave daily Blush. One of these days...! Good to get the feedback about it.
