Omg my lumea is amazing!

My DH bought me a lumea for Christmas after years of listening to me whinge about my body and facial hair. I wasn't entirely convinced it would work well for me as although I am dark haired I also have olive skin and permenant sun tan but OMG is is a bloody revelation. I've only used it 3 times and I have barely any hair on my face or arm pits and my legs, which have hair like a mans, are only patchy and growing back very slowly. I cannot tell you how much this little thing is going to change my life! I am so hairy!

Does anyone else on here have a lumea?

I have one and it's amazing! I did my legs twice and the results are brilliant. I do my face every week and I'm SLOWLY getting results there

PebbleTTC · 27/01/2016 13:03

That's the result of doing leg 3 times in about 3 months

Omg my lumea is amazing!
DextersMistress · 27/01/2016 13:22

I was just going to start a thread, I got mine last year and noticed a difference after just 2 uses, then the progress slowed down a lot. After not using it for a couple of months over the winter my hair seems to have grown back like before. Has anyone else found this? Is it something that needs continual use? I thought the hair would eventually stop growing all together.

Palomb · 27/01/2016 15:09

No it's not a permenant solution. You are supposed to use it every two weeks for 6 weeks and then the maintenance is every 2-3 months (I think!)

I've done my legs every 2 weeks and my face and arm pits every week and although I do still have facial fluff it's not like whiskers anymore. There's very little hair under my arm pits now just one or two in a the crease that I must have missed. I had a shower this morning and didn't shave.. First shower since I was 13 I haven't had to. Amazing.

I must have used it 10 times last year on my underarms, then stopped for maybe 3 months. I've started up again so I'm hair free for the summer.

Palomb · 27/01/2016 16:54

Is the hair just the same as it was before? I wonder if it would kill the hair off completely if you used it for years and years without a break?

I've got the 2007, for £225 from boots. Didn't see the point in the bikini attachment for an extra £100.

2 weeks seems such a long time. Does everyone do more frequently than that?

gillyweed · 27/01/2016 17:25

Is it painful? I bought the boots version about 4 years ago for a LOT of money! I wasn't that impressed and it absolutely killed, couldn't handle doing my bikini line as it was so bad and that was why I bought it!

gillyweed · 27/01/2016 17:26

Sorry also meant to say, I'm fairly hairy but pale with light brown ti blond hair - would it work?!

Palomb · 27/01/2016 17:32

It doesn't hurt me at all, can't even feel it really, did you look at the colour chart unthread? Not the one about tea Blush the other one.

Ive had one for a couple of years. The first few times I used it on my legs, I only did one leg, and shaved the other. Then I left it a few weeks and there was a very noticeable difference between the two legs. The treated leg had about a third of the amount of hair.

I regularly do my face (and neck) as I'm turning into a hairy old witch now I'm in my 40's. It's best to shave the area you want to treat a day before as it works best on short hair - I've had salon hair removal on my arm pits and they would always shave it if it was longer than 1mm. Salon treatment is much stingier but works faster.

I've noticed a reduction in some spider veins and freckles with using the lumea but I don't know if that is a "Thing". My hair is quite fair and my skin is very Celtic. I use a NoNo! For the very white facial hairs and lumea for the witchy dark ones.

FoggyMorn · 27/01/2016 17:50

It does sting a bit- like an elastic band pinging and more on the face, as the skin is thinner. I do think it depends on skin colour and texture tho, with pale/freckled skin finding it a bit more nippy.

DextersMistress · 27/01/2016 18:54

When I was using it regularly, the hair was definitely finer and more sparse but now it's thick again. But gutted really as like you I thought it would eventually kill it off. The tea chart made me Grin

Minshu · 27/01/2016 21:29

Love mine! Although the hairs on my legs are a bit lighter in colour and therefore more resistant than underarms, bikini-line and 'tache. Thanks for this thread to remind me that it's time to blast myself again tomorrow (when DH is out - must retain the mystique Grin).

Derbyday · 30/01/2016 11:59

Mine arrived today. Just blasted the chin and it doesn't hurt at all (unlike my old Boots model). Charging it up properly to attempt all other body parts for the first time.

RainOhJoyus · 30/01/2016 12:19

Thinking I might move to weekly to start off on legs etc, been doing face twice weekly, not sure of any improvement there, maybe it's fortnightly for a reason!

Scarydinosaurs · 30/01/2016 13:00

Is it effective on bikini line even without attachment?

NigellasGuest · 30/01/2016 13:24

Mine doesn't have an attachment but I use it on the bikini line very effectively. In fact, I would say it's working there the best!

NotSoFancyNancy · 30/01/2016 13:39

Just used mine on my face got the 2nd time. Will report back on results.
I was surprised how effective shaving my face has been and slightly horrified I left it for so long! Must get around to doing other body parts. Less incentive when covered up for the winterGrin

IsItMeOr · 30/01/2016 13:51

Intriguing.

You can see Amazon price history on camelcamelcamel. I think whoever's DH it was said they got the 2009 model for £250 from Amazon was being kind - lowest price it's been is £330 according to this.

Palomb · 30/01/2016 14:17

Maybe it wasn't the 2009 then Confused. It's got all the attachments anyway.

QOD · 30/01/2016 14:53

I just cannot bring myself to shave my face. I pluck much less often already but no way am I shaving

Derbyday · 30/01/2016 15:33

The link on page 1 was for the 2008/11 model which has all the attachments. Only difference I could find is in the number of flashes it has over a lifetime.

Libitina · 30/01/2016 15:59

I've started up again so I'm hair free for the summer.

Must get mine charged up and start again. Love it!

Palomb · 30/01/2016 16:02

Although it went against everything I've ever been told I did shave my face. I figured in for a penny in for a pound!

It was fine :)
