Ugg boots - yes or no?

I've been given some money for Christmas by DH who is far too crap to choose a present (frankly it's better this way...) We're in Germany which is bloody freezing and I'm kind of longing for some lovely sheepskin lined Ugg boots but don't know if they're a complete no no by now. Any views?

bloody love em and wore them all the time when i was preggers. Need a new pair as mine are knackered. But sinze being featured in Grazia cannot find some chocolate brown ones anywhere and i mean ANYWHERE in the country. Grrrrrr. Used to amuse me when I lived in oz and you would see girls with mini skirts in 100 degree heat with uggs on- silly and looked awful

noddyholder · 21/12/2006 13:20

Yes!
Timberlands NO!

UnquietDad · 21/12/2006 13:20

I know I'm a bloke and so I Know Nothing, and i don't have to wear them but only look at them, but I think they look bloody awful. Can't understand why people pay so much for a pair of furry wellies.

To paraphrase Crocodile Dundee, "that's not a boot - this is a boot!!"

Pinotmum · 21/12/2006 13:24

I got the sundance uggs from ebay last year and they get many compliments They are great for work as I work in a Playgroup - like wearing my slippers

DingDongDraculaOnHigh · 21/12/2006 13:38

in the 80s people used to point and laugh at me if I wore them out!

MamaG · 21/12/2006 14:08

Bugsy you are right about birkenstocks, hate those too ... BUT ... aren't you the MNer who liked the gold platform trainers

expatinscotland · 21/12/2006 14:10

I can imagine how that furry inside gets after a while. Probably pretty whiffy.

Yuk.

What's wrong w/just boots?

swiftybaby · 21/12/2006 14:14

oh but they are so cosy and comfy -normal boots dont cut it. Bloody hell its freezing out, could do with some today

Scootergirl · 21/12/2006 15:12

Just to point out that I'm not one of those trendy young tnings who will wear them with a skirt or tucked into skinny jeans. I just want them to keep my feet warm under my normal jeans... that's all

Definatly yes to ugg boots. I ahve got a sand colour pair but want to know if anyone has seen any chocolate brown ones desperate for a pair. Only seen them in one shop and they had limited sizes in stock and mine had all sold out.

Scootergirl · 21/12/2006 15:16

Look at the New Zealand website further down this thread. That's where I've ordered mine from

swiftybaby · 21/12/2006 16:15

god i am such a fashion victim, infact i am so trendy it hurts

MerrilyTooBuzzi · 21/12/2006 17:40

As i am a size 7.5 do you think they would make my feet look like the sugar puff monster's feet?

MerrilyTooBuzzi · 21/12/2006 17:59

does the silence mean "yes" my feet are way too big to be fashionable?
ROFL {{and just manages to keep large feet up in the air while doing so}} god they weigh a ton!

santacutie · 21/12/2006 18:00

I'd say no

swiftybaby · 21/12/2006 18:02

7.5 isnt that big. My friend wears a size 9. Now she has MASSIVE feet

SnafuOutOfHiding · 21/12/2006 18:04

That'd be a 'no' from over here too. I have to admit I saw someone wearing them last night and thought they looked really clumsy and ugly (and so very 2004 )

Warm though, but so are thermal socks...

MerrilyTooBuzzi · 21/12/2006 18:07

So you dont think id looke like i had 2 floor mops on my feet
not like this then Sorry i am not taking this very seriously...i must go and do somthing else...

I am sure they look lovely on everyone that wants them.

Scootergirl · 21/12/2006 18:42

Yes, Merrily. What boots to choose is a very serious subject and should be treated with due gravitas. None of this childish joking around...
