Yes, any jury would let one off the minute the word WE was mentioned.

Blackduck · 02/02/2016 20:02

Rose sounds like you could have done with the training I went on today 'having difficult conversations'........

Quite proud of myself for doing a scenario in saying 'no'

herbaceous · 02/02/2016 20:09

Rose, I think you're feeling wobbly because standing up for ourselves and continuing to believe we're right comes so hard to nice people like us! If you hold firm and it comes good, imagine how amazing it's going to be. And if you hold firm and they tell you to do one, then it's their loss.

Cremo · 02/02/2016 20:42

Oh what lovely eyewear! Makes me want a Change of look.
Today mostly looking a bit sun shocked. It's at melting level today, so we have retreated to air con room for a little lie down.
We had a super birthday meal for Dh yesterday in a little beach restaurant. Lots of delicious cocktails laced with rum and lobster done on the bbq. Divine.
I think we have finally reached properly 'wound down' as this has taken a couple of days.

Always better to be wound down rather than up!

Lalsy · 02/02/2016 21:26

Oh Crem....that looks utterly wonderful.

motherinferior · 02/02/2016 21:32

Keep drinking the cocktails and lazing in the sunEnvy. You are nearing Peak Waft.

bigTillyMint · 02/02/2016 21:32

Cremo that looks super! So glad you are getting to relax in styleSmile

magimedi · 02/02/2016 21:40

Belated Happy Birthday to Mr Crem.

Don't know if I could stand the pace of that holiday............. Envy

addle · 02/02/2016 21:45

Crem, that looks so beautiful and the food and drink don't sound bad

MI, lovely pic of DD on FB

Rose - well done

BD - how is it going at work?

motherinferior · 02/02/2016 21:46

I know, Magi, it looks awful. You really should come back straightaway!

MrsSchadenfreude · 02/02/2016 22:38

I'm ignoring the Caribbean photos - it's somewhere I've always wanted to go to but never have.

I have been told off at work and given a work plan with deadlines. I felt about five. I did point out that I have actually only been in the job about 3 months. The problem is, she is so vague about what she wants done, and never gives deadlines. (I did point the latter out - she had given me something to do, but no deadline, so it dropped off my list of things to do, as I had deadlines coming out of my ears.) The other problem is the ridiculous amount of meetings that achieve nothing. And the other is my travel schedule over the next month or so.

I also seem to have turned into the agony aunt for the department - someone told me she had lost her confidence, and could I give her some advice about how to get it back, or if not, then to look more confident. We also have a member of my team who has been done for GBH recently, and who is now threatening to wallop another member of staff. I am going to refer that one up...

Blimey, MrsS, I would run Shock What a load of shite you have to put up with. Tell your under-confident colleague to join MN. Grin

Blackduck · 03/02/2016 05:56

Blimey MrsS..... I think there's a managing upwards convo to be had...

Dreamqueen · 03/02/2016 06:38

Crem what island are you on? I might have missed that upthread. It looks & sounds fabulous.
MrsS that sounds like a horror office & difficult conditions.

hattymattie · 03/02/2016 06:41

Love the Mr Crem in silhouette. Happy birthday to him. Photos look divine, especially from a grey February.

BD - the trouble with those training courses s you know you are acting so I do really well because I know it's not a real difficult conversation.

Mrs - S - sounds a complete nightmare. I would be a bit worried about upsetting a guy who already had a GBH conviction. The job sounds all firefighting and no proactivity.

Am meeting a friend this morning who has been on holiday in Martinique. Alright for some!

NUFC69 · 03/02/2016 08:09

Love the photos, too, Crem. And a belated happy birthday to DH. My DSis and her DH are flying to LA tomorrow and then cruising, via San Fran, Hawaii, Fiji etc., to Australia. We did vaguely think about joining them but I wasn't sure that I could cope with over three weeks on the ship.

Rose, agree about standing your ground. And I am appalled/astounded at what you are saying, MrsS.

I do all the present buying/birthday (and Christmas) preparations here, although now he has retired DH is more interested which I suppose is something. At one time he delegated all present buying for me to DD.

Off to Aquafit shortly and then a quiet day after the DGC visitors yesterday.

bigTillyMint · 03/02/2016 08:48

NU I know what you mean about 3 weeks on a cruise ship. And I get seasick!

I am feeling quite wobbly this morning - overwhelmed with all the things I have to do for DM on top of usual family and work stuffSad However I just managed to help a colleague find something, so I am slightly cheered up. Got to make eleventy million calls re mum and get documents certified by PO to send to solicitors for POA and pay a bill for her and....

motherinferior · 03/02/2016 11:30

With you on the seasickness, BTM. I've got to get letters off to India to help (very lovely) cousins get visas to come over...

motherinferior · 03/02/2016 12:05

Meant the wobbliness!

MrsSchadenfreude · 03/02/2016 12:30

Right, off to get my tits squashed

OP posts:
magimedi · 03/02/2016 13:03

Mrs S - your work & boss sound vile.

BTM - I think you are at the worst stage of all (of your DM's care) ATM. Things will slot into place & you will heave a big sigh of relief when she does get a place in a home.

MI - sympathy to you also.

In S&B new, I went over to Brighton this am & TK Maax had quite a lot of Jaeger in it (which I've not seen before in TK). Got a lovely Breton top for £18, which should have been £60.

Cremo · 03/02/2016 13:41

Good luck with the mammogram Mrs S . I have mine when I get back.Hmm
Work sounds awful atm Mrs S. And I hate it when meetings resolve nothing and just suck up time and dilute the time you have to actually do shit. Hopeless. gBH man needs sanctions by the sound of it.you do not need that on your plate as well.

Hope everyone is having a happy Wednesday.
we have been adopted by a small kitten, currently curled up on the terrace beside Dh. Cats everywhere here, but more friendly than feral. I have pointed out possibility of fleas/rabies/ tetanus to Dh and he's now shooing like mad. Eejit.

Blackduck · 03/02/2016 14:11

BTM {{ }} Hope you feel better soon.

Agree Hatty re 'its not real' but she is very good at giving tips etc. - I just eed to put it all into practise....

bigTillyMint · 03/02/2016 17:08

Thanks! I am feeling a bit better having crossed some jobs off the list. I agree, it will be sooooo much easier when she is in a Care Home (though we will then have to sort the house!) - it is her getting upset which is bothering me. I have decided not to call her every day as I can't cope with it. Is that mean?
