Dreadful. I bet you have to have bare legs and everything.

Cremo - you deserve it!

Just had yet another jumbled phone call with DM. Apparently "it's all gone wrong again", "everything is broken", "nothing is working" (just your mind, DM) and "they aren't happy about it". No idea what's she is on about. Need to get an appointment for her at her GP's whilst I'm there re meds, but it will have to be an on-the-day one which I will have to try to arrange whilst en-route to hers. Oh joy!

In positive news, I think the scrape DD got into is sorted. Well, I hope it is!

motherinferior · 26/01/2016 14:24

To be fair to at least one Auntie, she is prepared to get on a plane and just fly over (she's not short of a bob or two). The escalatorphobe not so much.

motherinferior · 26/01/2016 14:29

BTM, can you ring the GP and get them to book you an appointment at a time that works for you?

Also, one of the best things I did with my mum was get it authorised with the GP, in writing, that my sister and I can deal with them on her behalf, so they’re happy to speak vv frankly to us.

I may go to a GP meeting with her tomorrow, because I offered. I am so tired, I really hope I don’t have to go…

bigTillyMint · 26/01/2016 15:08

MI, that's what I tried, but the next available like that is Tuesday (it would be a fortnight away if in London!) So it's on-the-day only. No problem at all getting them to speak to me - I have had that authorisation for nearly a year now - got it in place as soon as I realised she wasn't coping. I will make A Fuss if they can't fit us in on Thurs/Fri.

BeachysFlipFlops · 26/01/2016 16:48

You could take Father Dreamy and waft down the beach with him! I'm very jealous. I love the Caribbean but as my children are so indoctrinated into a certain campsite in a certain part of France, chances of getting anyone to break the mould are few and far between.

Sorry to hear about your dmum. I'm dreading any confusion creeping into ddad as confusion and lack of sight are not a good combo! Capacity for 'ditch falling into' would be greatly increased.....

Dd is in town. Very exciting - up for an art trip so I'm going to meet her in a minute (to hand over my Oyster card!).....

Blackduck · 26/01/2016 17:46

They won't interview me :(.
I am trying to see this as a positive as besides getting out of currently role it was dullsville as a job.....

CointreauVersial · 26/01/2016 17:51

Well, I had an excellent chat with the recruitment consultant! She's someone I've used in the past to recruit for my current company, so I know she's pretty on-the-ball. She totally gets where I'm coming from, and has a few ideas, but she warned me the right role wouldn't necessarily be instantly forthcoming, but that's perfectly fine; I'm happy enough where I am for the time being too bloody happy, that's the problem

I really do have a CV of two halves. Right now, I earn less than half of what I earned 15 years ago (probably more like a third, once it's pro-rata'd) when I gave it all up for parenthood. There's no way I'll get back to those dizzy heights (and I'm not sure I want to), but somewhere in the middle would be nice! Anyway, watch this space.

CointreauVersial · 26/01/2016 17:53

Aww, BD, there's me blathering on.....sorry they didn't bend on the interview, but it sounds like it wasn't the right role. You can do better than dullsville.

hattymattie · 26/01/2016 17:56

Cremo - that looks gorgeous. Hunky priest also rather gorg - I have to confess a certain longing to look at the rest of the calendar.

Was very impressed with David Attenborough on tv the other day, he seems to be in perfect mental and physical health at 90. Life is very unfair.

bigTillyMint · 26/01/2016 18:08

Oh BD, it's fate - the job wasn't meant for you - like CV says, you can do better than dullsville!

CV, that sounds good - we will be watchingWink

hattymattie · 26/01/2016 18:14

X post with BD and CV - BD - sounds like you were too good for the role and they knew it. CV - good luck and do keep us posted.

MrsSchadenfreude · 26/01/2016 19:34

The priest looks too scrubbed for me.

Put me down for 12 March. I have no idea of my travel schedule yet for March, so fingers crossed I will be there.

You don't want a dull job, BD. I feel a lot happier since I got away from my godawful job and Bitch Boss. Even though there is too much work.

OP posts:
motherinferior · 26/01/2016 20:18

BD, dull is definitely not worth it.

I am off to Norwich tomorrow...

GiddyGiddyGoat · 26/01/2016 20:19

So Mrs S, has your new boss got a name yet? I have fond memories of Arse Boss... Happy Days.
Understand your desire to escape current horror show BD - but a dull job would bore you to tears in 5 minutes once the relief wore off.

MrsSchadenfreude · 26/01/2016 20:36

I think it should begin with "C", GGG... as I've been so alphabetical to date...

OP posts:
GiddyGiddyGoat · 26/01/2016 20:45

Indeed! I'll have a think... Grin

addle · 26/01/2016 21:22

hello crepeys, tax return advice please?

this is the first year i've filled in self-assessment while also being in regular employment (PAYE). do I just fill it in as usual and HMRC put the two together? I can't see anything on the opening pages that says are you also regularly employed elsewhere?

can anyone help? am aware have left it bit late and desperate to go to bed with hacking cough and wheezy chest

GiddyGiddyGoat · 26/01/2016 21:26

Knowing (and loving) Mrs S as I do Crem, I don't think any of those are the 'C' word that would come to her mind first... Wink

MrsSchadenfreude · 26/01/2016 21:26

Addle, is it the long form or the short one? Can you do it online?

OP posts:
bigTillyMint · 26/01/2016 21:28

Grin, exactly what I thought GGG!

GiddyGiddyGoat · 26/01/2016 21:28

Have no useful answer Addle - can you phone advice number in the morning?
I too have - as usual - left it all until the lastish minute and am now sweating to see if my accountant gets back to me in time for the deadline - or (understandably) tells me to stuff myself...

CointreauVersial · 26/01/2016 21:31

Addle - I seem to remember (from back in the day when I had to do tax returns) that you complete a page for every "employment" and a page for every "self-employment". And I remember having to specifically request the necessary pages; they didn't just arrive with the rest of the pack (but this was pre-online, of course). Sympathies having to complete a tax return....I was chuffed to bits when they stopped sending ones to me.
