I like this one, £129. The reviews say it's a loose fit, so could work nicely with your new curvy shape.

Your last post looks like skater/wrap dress, though. You can find nice ones for a fraction of your budget.

maidrin if I could get my hands on my 30 something self to dress up for a night out, I'd enjoy it second time round because I would appreciate how good I actually was rather than how imperfect I thought I was back then. Hold your head up, shoulders back, own the room, smile and flash a fetlock. And remember you probably have all your friend yearns for but won't admit including fab boobs

Enjoy your shopping and your night out x

Great post, BB.

Thank you garlicbake and beaufortbelle

I'm thinking perhaps something like this might fit my needs...

That's nice!

BeaufortBelle · 20/01/2016 09:44

Looks fabulous. Have a back up though if you are ordering off the internet and can't try before you buy.

herecomesthsun · 20/01/2016 10:08

Pepperberry, £42.50 here, £34.50 here sale here

DoubleDeClutchMuch · 20/01/2016 13:09

Boffin I love that handbag shop!!!

what did you buy?

Floowho · 20/01/2016 14:27

Bought a lovely Gant shirt in a local department store sale, really flattering and comfortable. I am trying to find flattering trousers and jeans now. Ordered some in 30" waist that were huge, then went to the department store yesterday and tried on same waist size, only to not be able to breathe.

Hamiltoes · 20/01/2016 14:47

Floo I've given up shopping online! Bit annoying as sale purchases are so much easier than searching through the dregs in the shop (and on a time limit with kids to pick up!) but definitely worth trying things on to get a perfect fit!

Seen two expensive looking ladies today. One a youngish woman in her early 20s. Black skinnies, Chelsea boots, well fitted tan warm jacket/coat. The other probably late 50s/early 60s. Very simple oatmeal below knee coat, brown scarf nicely tied/draped at neck, jeans and brown casual flat ankle boots. Both simple, both well co-ordinated, both had good deportment and indefinable presence. Both were understated.

Twinklestein · 20/01/2016 16:12

Pretty much all the women in West London look expensive. Ok I exaggerate, but take my area - it's all expensive haircuts and highlights, diamond studs, stealth wealth handbags - Tod's, Prada etc, camel cashmere, tweed jackets, babysoft leather, designer jeans, expensive boots, real fur yadda yadda... Ghastly good taste is what it is.

I'm not convinced that looking expensive is anything to aspire to. Stylish, original, unusual - that's a lot more interesting.

Twinklestein · 20/01/2016 16:16

May I just say how grim those Jigsaw dresses are.

Back in my teens and 20s Jigsaw was ace. Then it nosedived into Boden, White Stuff territory with shapeless dresses, dowdy sludge-coloured floral prints and died a sad death by teal.

BoffinMum · 20/01/2016 18:13

Doubledeclutch, I bought this one. Bella tan leather bag, for work. My 13" Macbook fits in there very nicely as well as all associated detritus.

Oooo, like those leggings too.

hollyisalovelyname · 20/01/2016 20:26

BoffinMum I have quite a few of the Vanilla Paris bags- bought 4 or 5 years ago. They ae now doing 'similar to Chanel' bags. I've been in the shop and bought online also.
MadrínRua you have to be Irish with a name like that- Wink

BeaufortBelle · 20/01/2016 21:01

I am definitely going to visit the handbag shop - might not be this Friday as time's getting a bit short but definitely going there.

Madrina I particularly like the River Island Dress and the Joules one. DD has the leggings or some very like them. Glares at size 8 blonde sitting next to me Grin

MaidrinRua · 20/01/2016 21:24

hollyisalovelyname I am indeed! :) haha

HappyGirlNow · 20/01/2016 21:31

Not sure those River Island leggings say 'expensive' Confused

Real leather, yes.

goingmadinthecountry · 20/01/2016 21:39

I'm not saying I dislike the leggings but they are so so far from expensive looking. Trying too hard, too much colour and fake stuff are the ways not to go. Shiny not overstyled hair, great quality fabrics and very careful colour choices always look good. Cashmere looks expensive. Never think you can get away with a fake bag - no label quality is so so much better than look alike. That career girl thing a few pages up was just how to look as though you have money. Not the same as looking expensive. Spend as much as you can on boots. Oh, and be about 17 sizes skinnier than I'll ever be.

BeaufortBelle · 20/01/2016 21:41

OOhOh, I think a leather look legging is fine. If it were a pair of leather trousers it would be a different matter and I think in that case they would have to be the finest leather to look expensive. Leather look leggings are just fun.
