tell me what is your favourite, tried and tested lip balm please!

Just that really. Lips are horrible and dry and I need a decent lip balm. Preferably one that I don't have to apply with my finger as I can't always guarantee that my hands are suitably clean (I work with lots of chemicals!) thanks

It's the only one I've repurchased over and over again. I like that it's all natural.

Is going to say carmex but no good if you can't always use your finger. The Burt's bees one in a yellow tube is also extremely good, I use that at work where my hands are not clean and the carmex at home.

You can get Carmex in a tube!

Blistex. Nothing else works as well IME.

I find Carmex makes my lips feel dryer in the long run. For me you can't beat the basic Chapstick.

Nivea Lip Hydro for me. It's got a nice consistency and smells lovely.

Although I've always loved good old fashioned Lipsyl too, for the same reasons.

I have a Burt's Bees one in a little tin, and I find it too dry, just doesn't really do much for me.

I've bought a Boots plain lip salve and a Nivea one. Both around £1.50 and work and last very well.

I use Elizabeth Arden 8-hour cream on my lips before bed. In the morning I use either Burt's Bees or Nivea in a stick. The Nivea has a more smoothing consistency when I rub my lips together but overall I think the EA does the best job

Badger balm is my favourite though it comes in a tin not a tube.

I've just bought the flexitol one (not sure if it's called that but it's by same people who make the awesome hoof cream that I use in the summer!). My gosh it's good - it actually works! No surprise I guess sine it's all about 'function' rather than being 'pretty'.

It'd be perfect for you OP because it has one of those applicators with a sloping surface that you squeeze some balm onto and then apply straight to your lips (like those Lancôme juicy tube things everyone was mad for about 20 years ago!) so you don't touch the product at all.

I think they've changed the formula of Lipsyl and it smells awful now.

Palmers Cocoabutter lip balm is the best by far. Next best is Blistex cream.

The Carmex stick is tinted so looks pretty but dries out your mouth.

Definitely Neutrogena Norwegian Formula for me. My lips get so dry/sore that I end up looking like I've got a second pair of lips with the redness.

Norwegian Formula sorts the redness right out and hydrates my lips for the day

Palmers Cocoabutter lip balm - amazing stuff.

Burts bees is my favourite, don't like the tingle with carmex though otherwise it feels nice.

I guarantee that if you use this your lips will heal very quickly. If my lips happen to get sore, dry, chapped etc because I've run out (very rare!!), then they will either be completely healed by morning or it will take another night of overnight use to be perfect. Slather it on before sleep every night to keep them in tip top condition. You can get it from most independent chemist shops.

It's good for any skin soreness, skin grazes, sore noses from too much nose blowing, cracked toes, dry elbows or knees and the list goes on. You won't want to be without it once you've tried it.

It's been sold since the 1870's and was formulated for the poor people of London originally.

I've been told that nothing is more nourishing and moisturising for your lips than lanolin, people swear by it! Lots of my breast feeding friends have kept buying it to use as lip balm long after needing it for sore nipples. It's expensive, but a tube lasts a really long time. They put it on before bed and then lips are fine all day, and if they do happen to get sore or chapped, a cheap lip balm will do during the day time. I've not tried it yet, but I fully intend to!

Nivea lip care
Vaseline aloe Vera have on or other in every bag / coat / car / room

Dr Lipp Nipple Balm - more for lips than nips and comes in a little tube. It is the absolute business. If you can have a pot for at home then Reve du Miel by Nuxe.

Lansinoh lanolin nipple cream. Decant into little travel pot for your handbag. Amazing.

The Clarins Lip Oil in honey is wonderful. Extremely moisturising and leaves a subtle gloss. It sells out everywhere that stocks it but John Lewis had some the other day. Eve Lom Kiss Mix is really good too, it tingles a bit and isn't cheap but really works.
