does anyone platinum blonde at home?

I know I know, pay a professional. I just can't afford it.

I am lusting after platinum blonde. I am currently natural medium blonde and am on the verge of buying the bleach London one to get to platinum. I am armed with icy platinum toner for afterwards and have booked a haircut on thursday to sort any damaged ends. I also have purple shampoo. Am I nuts? Is it possible to get a non brassy blonde at home, a proper platinum?

Either encourage me or completely talk me out of it please. I have wanted platinum for so long! I have quite an edgy style so I think I can pull it off. Any tips?

What shampoo should I use to wash it out? I have bleach London purple/blue shampoo, touch of silver shampoo or baby shampoo (what the toner advises)?

Put a plastic bag over the lengths.

iamaboveandBeyond · 04/11/2015 14:13

I tend to use whatever is at hand to wash mine out Grin
So if it says baby shampoo, i'd go with that

Getting in the shower myslef now, so good luck!!

Toner is on, it looked a bit yellowy when I washed it off so I used one lot of blue shampoo and one baby shampoo and its less yellow already. 20 mins for toner to work now. love it so far though!

Exciting! What toner are you using if you don't mind me asking?

Pantsalive · 04/11/2015 14:31

A bit late now to be helpful but, another time, you can rub coconut oil into your scalp an hour or so before you bleach. It protects it and stops the hair getting quite so dry but doesn't affect the bleaching process.

I had it on overnight last time before I did mine but it was a bit itchy when I woke up. I think it made a real difference to my scalp though.

Thank you pants. It wasn't sore or anything and my hair is still soft so I think I have escaped too much damage this time!

That looks great :)

My experience wasn't so great ... I ended up turning my hair bright orange and my ears blistered from the dye! I spent the entire following day at the hairdressers spending PS180 I didn't have on a credit card putting it right. I have always dyed my hair at home with no issues but my blonde attempt was the worst hair disaster I've ever had!

flanjabelle · 04/11/2015 15:17

Fairylea I'm bloody glad that didn't happen to me, sounds horrific!!

Jerome Russell powder, 60vol peroxude, followed by 'a touch of silver'.
I've only ever been forced to shave my hair once...

Blodss · 04/11/2015 19:01

Its lovely. Is there a picture of your hair before?

flanjabelle · 04/11/2015 19:53

thank you! This was it before.

I'm concerned it's a bit too white.. perhaps it will just take some getting used to!
