does anyone platinum blonde at home?

I know I know, pay a professional. I just can't afford it.

I am lusting after platinum blonde. I am currently natural medium blonde and am on the verge of buying the bleach London one to get to platinum. I am armed with icy platinum toner for afterwards and have booked a haircut on thursday to sort any damaged ends. I also have purple shampoo. Am I nuts? Is it possible to get a non brassy blonde at home, a proper platinum?

Either encourage me or completely talk me out of it please. I have wanted platinum for so long! I have quite an edgy style so I think I can pull it off. Any tips?

Thank you doctor!

Apple, sorry it's my natural colour so I can't be of any help. You are just over a year too late for me to make it into a wig for you. I donated 11 inches of hair last year. You could have had it! Grin

It looks lovely! Is the first colour begore you did anything your natural colour,or dyed? It's the exact colour I want mine to be and if it's not natural can you remember/share what it is?

flanjabelle I love your hair in every pic!
BunnyLebowksi lookin' great! Does that mean you've covered your grey?

I'm growing out my hair, but had a major wibble over the weekend - thank god I didn't see this thread sooner or I'd have been out shopping for bleach and colour!

Sorry flanj what was the toner you used ?

flanja I get 3-4 uses from a pot. Dilute it with any cheap white conditioner. It makes it go much further and pastelises the colour so you get a prettier effect imo.

Bunny how many uses can you get out of a manic panic tub? It's quite expensive for a one use product, and i can't seem to find out if it will do more than one.

If you do, definitely use the bleach london kit. It is fantastic. Also get your own gloves as the gloves aren't great. Savers sell big boxes of them for under a pound. My boots didn't stock bleach London so you might need to order it the day before and then collect it. I would really recommend the toner I used too, it completely got rid of the yellow bits. I linked it earlier in the thread. There is enough in a tube to do your hair quite a few times too.

I did a bloody good job, it's such a shame it didn't suit me!

Twirlypoo Blush thanks!

I've been putting off bleaching my own hair because I was too chicken...might just give it a go, and get all the bits and pieces next time I go to town, now I've read this and seen the fab result!

You are both bloody gorgeous - I used to have silver hair and I loved it but the maintenance was a bitch.

I'm dirty blonde now, but am feeling inspired after this.... Grin

Bunny I love your colour. It's beautiful!!

I will be moving on to manic panic dyes to keep the colour without anymore bleaching. They have lovely colours :)

The red is this one:

went out last night and felt really confident so I'm happy with my choice! Feeling bloody awful today though! Very hungover!

Ages Coco. Much much longer than everything I'd read online had led me to believe. I had to strip the purple out the other day as it was still there 6 weeks after I last dyed it.

Can wholeheartedly recommend Manic Panic for staying power. I've used a new brand for my new colour so will see how it lasts.

The platinum looks great, the red looks great and your natural hair also looks great.

Go for a deep dark sort of pinky colour next time if you're still on an adventurous roll, that would look amazing I think.

I did love the bright white blonde but then couldn't see your eye colour or skin then.

I really get your reasoning behind the change too. You feel different inside so you want the outside to reflect that.

It's a gorgeous bright positive colour and your eye colour looks amazing! Love it.

Wow that was such a fleeting blonde flange! Your eyes really do look amazing in red though and you would've known if it just wasnt right for you.

Your thread has made me sooooooooo tempted to try this at home though even though it would take forever and probably look terrible with my massive black eyebrows :)
