Ooh Stropps, like the new skirt!

We got Netflix (DH got 6months free trial!) for DD (and the main TV) - it has endless crap on suitable for teens. It's about £5 or 6 monthly, but I'm sure you too could get a 6months free deal!

Stropperella · 18/11/2015 12:45

Nice idea, BTM, but I don't want to encourage dd to do any more binge-watching. She "borrowed" a friend's Netflix account in the summer and then spent 2 weeks straight on the sofa watching wall-to-wall Orange is the New Black. Although she did watch some of it in French and then claimed it was "work". Grin So I wanted to give her some Old Skool dvds, quaint though those are. Grin

bigTillyMint · 18/11/2015 13:35

Yes, that's a good point - I'm know that many of DD's hours disappear watching...

BeachysFlipFlops · 18/11/2015 14:15

I've just bought 'Amy' for dd1 for similar add on Christmas present.

bigTillyMint · 18/11/2015 14:26

Fab film Beachy. So sad how many of the most talented young singers die so young.

hattymattie · 18/11/2015 16:47

Stropps - Pitch Perfect 1and 2. Plus mine love Vampire Diaries and Pretty Little Liars (although I havent seen them).

Auriga - you sound really run down. I agree you need a rubbish telly fix ^^.

Here the primary kids are anxious and confused. One asked me if we were going to be bombed. Another asked why Barak Obama hated us so muchConfusedSad

Exchange today:

Me: I told you about XXX last week.

Student: But I wasn’t here last week.

IN WHAT WARPED ALTERNATIVE VERSION OF REALITY DOES SHE THINK I EVEN REMOTELY CARE????

motherinferior · 18/11/2015 17:46

And in other news, DM don't sound so hot.

bigTillyMint · 18/11/2015 18:41

Oh dear, MI. Are you going up there again soon?

hattymattie · 18/11/2015 18:49

Oh MI Sad

Collymollypuff · 18/11/2015 18:51

I thought Amy was an amazing film, and can be seen as very feminist - she was an incredible young woman, but too young and unsupported to know how to protect herself from a number of men who ruthlessly sought to use her. I think it shows exploitation brilliantly. She never stood a chance.

Stropperella · 18/11/2015 19:25

Oh dear, MI. Are you visiting this w/e?

Re: Amy - not sure I could watch it. She was a right thorn in my side for a whole year when she was 12, talented or not. :) She was not someone that I recall being .. very good at listening to advice.

Collymollypuff · 18/11/2015 19:40

Oh dear, Stropps, I didn't know you were at school with her. Sad

I still feel sorry for her though. What a fucked-up childhood.

Stropperella · 18/11/2015 19:42

Grin Grin I'm 50, Molly. I wasn't at school with her, I taught her. Grin

bigTillyMint · 18/11/2015 19:46
Grin

It is a good film Stropps - very interesting style of film-making as well as the songs. And yes, shows her being ruthlessly exploited.

Stropperella · 18/11/2015 19:48

Ds gave his tech teacher a message from me today, saying hi, as she is someone I used to teach with years ago and she sent a message back saying hi back and that she is feeling really ancient, because there is someone in ds's year who is the child of parents we both taught when they were at school.

Collymollypuff · 18/11/2015 19:53

Oh yeah...I'm another crepey who's not very well and completely befuddled. I'd probably better go to bed now, trying not to be too sad about Amy.

OP posts:
Stropperella · 18/11/2015 20:09

Aww, Molly. :( Hope you feel better soon.

motherinferior · 18/11/2015 21:42

I'm going up this Sat, and then meeting some people I knew at school which will be actually quite nice. Not sure what's going on - may be a blip...

bigTillyMint · 18/11/2015 21:50

Glad you've got something to look forward to - hopefully it's just a blip.

Of course Rudy, navy fine. People don't really notice tbh.

Looking through dds did collection from teenage years; Moulin Rouge, Glee, Billy Elliot , the Sherlock series, Enigma, life on Mars, mission Impossible series, mamma Mia, the devil wears Prada, Indiana Jones series, gorillas in the mist. Etc

Monty, thanks for telling us about Rose.
Rose you have been on my mind all weekThanks

bigTillyMint · 19/11/2015 07:58

Rudy, I would have thought that would be fine - haven't been to a funeral in years though.

Yes, Rose, thinking of you too.

Molly and Auriga, hope you are feeling a bit better? And anyone else who isn't on top form. DH went off with the car this morning as he is exhausted - he woke up with a badly bloodshot eye yesterday and came in with a headache last night. He isn't usually ill.

Cremo · 19/11/2015 08:00

Oh BTM poor Dh. He sounds very run down.

We are to get snow this weekend. I feel very unprepared, given that it was 18degrees two weeks ago.Envy[santa]

motherinferior · 19/11/2015 08:48

Also Belle - lovely film - and Pride.
