My dad is getting married in a couple of weeks and am wearing gorgeous black wide leg tousers and have seen a gorgeous black lace tunic in limited collection (m and s). reck will look fab with said trousers and killer heels but maybe too black, like im going to a funeral (although might as well be)

What do you lovelies think?

PS-am size 16/18 so black is lovely and slimming!

Personally I think al black for weddings is tres chic!

expatinscotland · 01/12/2006 22:45

No, I think it's unimaginative.

So many other colours out there, especially black top and trousers.

To a wedding?

swifter · 01/12/2006 22:45

edam · 01/12/2006 22:46

Wear a black and white hat with it, or a black and white scarf, or red shoes or something. Oh, and ask him and your step-mum to be whether they mind - if not, don't worry.

hana · 01/12/2006 22:46

think would be v nice
my bridesmaids ( sisters) wore gorgeous black dresses at my wedding, v v chic

MarsLady · 01/12/2006 22:47

No no no no no no no!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm sorry I can't help it. It's my upbringing. Nor can you wear white!

I'm sure you can find a lovely sexy outfit for the wedding in better colours.

Edmond · 01/12/2006 22:48

Like the idea of doing black with coloured shoes. Lots of nice red shoes around at the momemt.

expatinscotland · 01/12/2006 22:51

That's too much black.

British people wear too much black on the whole.

But black trousers and black lace top.

Not too funeral. Too bedroomy.

swifter · 01/12/2006 22:52

have some nice red shoes from topshop-could wear those? am kinda set on the lace tunic thing so might not go- will try and do a link

OP posts:
expatinscotland · 01/12/2006 22:55

I'm w/ya, Mars and south.

It's a lot of black, too. An all black outfit.

No.

Save it for an Xmas do.

God, Brits, STOP WEARING ALL THAT BLACK!

swifter · 01/12/2006 22:55

is it the law that you have to wear some hideous pastel or ill-fitting dress then???

OP posts:
expatinscotland · 01/12/2006 22:56

To a wedding, it depends - morning, afternoon or evening? Registry house or chuch? Formal or informal?

But NOT trousers and NOT black.

expatinscotland · 01/12/2006 22:56

Of course not, but there's a whole WORLD out there - or suits, dresses, and colours.

NOT ill-fitting and not pastel.

But not black and lacy, either.

swifter · 01/12/2006 22:57

but have legs like footballer though and hate showing them off. It is registry do in freakin scarborough, so will be bloody freezing too

balks only slimmign if youa restanding against black

MarsLady · 01/12/2006 22:58

No no no no no no noooooooooooooooooooo to the pastels and ill-fitting dresses. My sister is a size 24 and always looks fab when she's out.

I'm a bright colour kinda girl. It's possible to buy well fitting outfits. Honest it is! Just no no no no no nooooooooooooooooooo to all black at a wedding!

In fact.... not keen on black for a funeral either. I like colour to celebrate the life that was.

expatinscotland · 01/12/2006 22:58

Then how about a trouser suit?

Treat yourself.

Even if you go heather grey or navy, and do a top in a bold colour underneath the jacket w/some funky heels and tights.

WonderCod · 01/12/2006 22:58

i drign and askt he bride
its very nice
