When you want something you just can't have

I love this shirt. Everything about it is perfect for me: neckline, colour , length, material. There's a perfect place for it in my wardrobe. Ihave been searching for one so exactly right.

I covet it. I keep looking at it, like it is a high school crush. Sigh.

I cannot in any way justify spending so much.
What do you want, sartorially speaking, that is out of reach.

God you really need to buy it. It will haunt you for months and nothing else will compare. Just get it, wear it and enjoy it. If it helps to justify it, work out how many purchases will you have to miss to balance the books.

margaritasbythesea · 05/09/2015 10:13

I always look in the sakes for a silk shirt, but a while ago I was at a loose end waiting for a train and there IT was!

Also influencing my angst is my 5yo son. Buttery fingers unaffordable on silk satin! Argh!

Dh brought me to Paris about 8 years ago and I didn't buy the most beautiful pair of leather gloves I've ever seen. I think about and yearn for them at least once a month. Buy the shirt.

Kennington · 05/09/2015 10:17

Really beautiful
At the risk of sounding like I work for uniqlo they have silk shirts for about forty quid not quite the same though

I want the Chloe bag that looks like a loo seat
Cannot justify it though!!!!

NoArmaniNoPunani · 05/09/2015 10:21

Alexander McQueen bag if I wasn't expecting a baby I'd buy it but I need to be sensible now.

curriegirl · 05/09/2015 10:37

Oh god. Why did I click. That would be perfect for me but too expensive.

Itscurtainsforyou · 05/09/2015 10:42

I got a similar (cheaper) version from Matalan. I agree that one is probably better quality though....

bigbadbarry · 05/09/2015 10:43

Get it then don't buy another thing this year? It is the same price as what, 3 tops from Zara?

margaritasbythesea · 05/09/2015 10:45

It is the colour that is so good. I am a redhead and a darker khaki is awfuk but this is just a bit paler than usual. I look at uniqlo every season but the colours aren't good for me. and they are not quite so beautiful.

I can see how that Moschino bag is covetable. I quite covet another baby too though!

Chloe bag shaped like a loo seat? linky!

Hmm every time I have needed something, walked past it, wanted it and then bought it it has sat in my wardrobe.
Mission scarf from Italy
Orange oral kiely bag
Silver necklace from Italy
White handbag from Italy
Etc

margaritasbythesea · 05/09/2015 11:46

why so? i think i build things up in my imagination to be so desirable sometimes.

OP posts:
SouthWestmom · 05/09/2015 11:47

Yeah same here, like my life will fall into place if I have them.
And actually, it's still just me with an expensive scarf .

DontKillMyVibe · 05/09/2015 12:08

I love this YSL lipstick print dress

Never going to happen in a million years and not would I want it to at that price.

Would still be perfect for A/W though.

NoArmaniNoPunani · 05/09/2015 12:11

I think the Chloe bag shaped like a loo seat is the Marcie. I almost bought one last year. I've gone off it now, especially with the loo seat description.

margaritasbythesea · 05/09/2015 12:31

Yes. Can only see loo seat now.

I tried on a beautiful black magic dress, magic because it turned me from a 16 to a 12.
I couldn't justify the cost I didn't know when I would wear it so I left it,
I still think about it
Buy the shirt !!!!

ShamelessHarpy · 05/09/2015 12:37

I almost always have my eye on something I cannot afford. Usually a handbag or coat or pair of shoes.

Currently I am in love with a MaxMara trench coat that costs £1,200. I have never and will never spend that on clothing, its about ten times what I have ever paid for a coat.

But GOD, its lush (can't find link to it, but its a lovely knee-length, black belted wool coat from their AW15 range...I made the mistake of trying it on and it fitted like a glove )

Whatthefoxgoingon · 05/09/2015 13:08

I adore my maxmara coat, mine is pink from last year's collection. Buy it!!

ZaraW · 05/09/2015 13:44

I don't fall in love with clothes all that often but loved Sali Hughes' cat blouse in the Guardian Weekend last Saturday. It's around £500 a ridiculous amount, I love it, I could afford it but I could never justify buying it.

stripytees · 05/09/2015 14:02

I've sometimes tried buying cheaper alternatives but they're never as good as the thing I really want. Sometimes the expensive item ends up better value for money cost per wear or due to its longevity.

chanie44 · 05/09/2015 14:38

Buy it. Sometimes it's nice to push the boat out.

I bought a silk top for a similar amount of money last week. It's more than I'd normally pay, but I thought 'why not'?

ImperialBlether · 05/09/2015 14:40

Am I the only one who saw a blank page when I clicked the link?

ExConstance · 05/09/2015 14:58

Jiogsaw always have good sales, perhaps you will be able to get it later?
