When you want something you just can't have

I love this shirt. Everything about it is perfect for me: neckline, colour , length, material. There's a perfect place for it in my wardrobe. Ihave been searching for one so exactly right.

I covet it. I keep looking at it, like it is a high school crush. Sigh.

I cannot in any way justify spending so much.
What do you want, sartorially speaking, that is out of reach.

If only Ex constance

I would definitely buy it, and then do penance by not going out for lunch or buying coffees or unneeded socks in primark etc.

Greenpickachu · 05/09/2015 19:08

Just buy it, it will last you a long time if you only wear it on special occasions and be careful what you eat, and keep away from any DC.

Like an earlier poster I was in Paris years ago and to this day regret not buying a gorgeous pair of sunglasses and in Thailand years ago not buying a beautiful bracelet because I only had enough cash for my ferry trip to the mainland that day. I still look on jewellery shops to this day trying to find a similar one.

Chottie · 05/09/2015 19:12

I still yearn over a Prada bag OH offered to buy me 10 years ago. I said no, as I thought it was too expensive (!) but I still think about it......

Buy the shirt!

amarmai · 05/09/2015 19:15

The shirt is far too expensive for the skimpy way it is made e.g. almost no overlap on the button plackets and the bottom hem is as small as possible. Expect the inside will show the same cheap construction and the seams may well fray with wear. You can get a much better quality shirt for that price.

margaritasbythesea · 05/09/2015 22:59

i needed that!

It is a gorgeous shirt (though I wouldn't buy silk myself)
Work out cost per wear and see how affordable it is then.

I don;t do handbag envy Grin I bought myself a grey Kipling to go with my black Kipling and brown Kipling. That's as good as it gets for me.
2 bags is enough. 3 is excessive for me Grin

thenightsky · 05/09/2015 23:19

Shirt is a nice colour but it looks cheaply made. Walk away OP.

margaritasbythesea · 06/09/2015 09:55

You are quite right about the seams etc. I hadn't looked at it like that. I was too bowled over by it being the right shade of khaki. I do wear lots of silk but will wait for the sale and hope I get lucky. Does anyone know when they start in jigsaw?

YetAnotherUserName · 06/09/2015 10:16

Buy it! Enjoy it. And then buy nothing else until the winner sales?

Confession: I'm encouraging you because I'm struggling to restrain myself from a superfluous purchase so I can enjoy your spending vicariously Grin

Greenpickachu · 06/09/2015 11:37

I think the whole point of the small delicate seams is so the shirt appears more delicate and floaty so this can only be a good thing for a silk shirt.

Greenpickachu · 06/09/2015 11:39

OP how will you feel tomorrow If this shirt has now sold out in your size and you will never have the chance buy it again?

AmberNectarine · 06/09/2015 11:49

I wanted a Chanel bag for years and years. Last weekend, I finally bought one. It was absolutely worth it, I know I will use it for the rest of my days. Get the shirt if it won't bankrupt you.

AmberNectarine · 06/09/2015 11:50

Yeah, actually if you wait for the sales you can get equipment for that price. I have 4 and never paid more than £100.

LittleMysMoominMamma · 06/09/2015 19:56

Margarita, have you tried the shirt on?

I liked it for the same reason as you, I have red hair and thought the colour was beautiful, but I was SO disappointed with the cut was really nothing special, it didn't drape well on me at all. I'm now coveting an Equipment shirt, and I really can't justify that atm Confused

Saying that, it might just look stunning on you!

LittleMysMoominMamma · 06/09/2015 19:58

PS Amber, where did you get your Equipment shirts from, and what time of year were the sales? (sorry for the hijack!)

margaritasbythesea · 06/09/2015 20:42

I didn't and I am kicking myself. I had a suitcase with me and didn't want to faff. I wish I had now.

Don't kill my vibe ....that lipstick dress has been copied by forever 21... Or the other way round if you believe the daily mail!

LittleMysMoominMamma · 06/09/2015 21:05

Hmm, that's a b*gger!

Do you have a Next account? I noticed earlier that they have it on the website, cheaper and faster delivery... You could just try it... Grin

LettuceLaughton · 06/09/2015 21:15

this is very similar shade. Different shape though.

bishboschone · 06/09/2015 22:41

There's your answer, find a friend with a next account to recommend you . Get discount , order it , pay it off over a few months .. Sorted ! ... I expect it will go in the next sale though.. A lot of the premium stuff from next does .

margaritasbythesea · 06/09/2015 22:49

That is a good alternative but I can't wear that neckline.

might try it on through next, ready for sale time of course...

clippityclop · 06/09/2015 22:56

Go for it, you'll wear it for years. 5% off with Quidco.

AmberNectarine · 07/09/2015 16:19

I got them from selfridges. Sales are mid June and Boxing Day onwards. I have only even found them by going there in person - have paid anything from £30-£95 for one.

LittleMysMoominMamma · 07/09/2015 17:56

Wow Amber, I'm impressed! Oh to live in London... Grin

Really trying hard to resist buying one full price...
