Probably because it doesn't actually contain any? Grin

That product looks well dodge. Think it's Chinese and I'm not really familiar with brands there. Just doesn't look legit to me.

GeordieBadger · 06/03/2016 21:04

Bummer. To try or not to try...

mintbiscuit · 06/03/2016 22:12

Don't do it! You don't know what's in it and could cause some nasty skin reactions.

If you are looking for hyaluronic acid products try the hada labo gokujun lotion. Huge bottle and great hydrating toner/lotion. www.amazon.co.uk/gp/aw/d/B00BSNBO9O/ref=dp_ob_neva_mobile

GeordieBadger · 06/03/2016 22:41

I've put a little of the dodge on my hand. Will report back when my hand falls off Grin

mint is this the product you recommend?

mintbiscuit · 06/03/2016 22:56

Hm... think that's a different version as it's got green writing on. I use the moist version which has orange writing on. Wish I could read japanese so I could tell the difference.

Anyone here know the difference?

davidcameroon · 07/03/2016 17:58

That's the light version (for oily skin)

GeordieBadger · 08/03/2016 10:50

Ladies, what is 'snail recovery gel'?

mintbiscuit · 08/03/2016 11:42

If you mean the Mizon snail recovery gel in the pink tube it's a moisturiser/occlusive for the final step in your routine. Despite the name! The Mizon snail line has misleading product names sometimes.

GeordieBadger · 08/03/2016 11:59

mint yup that's the one. It's super cheap? It is any good? Mine has arrived!! What is an occlusive? Will it be okay on my acne-prone skin?

mintbiscuit · 08/03/2016 12:10

It's a very decent moisturiser better suited to normal or oily skin types imo. An occlusive is a layer that holds moisture in your skin to keep it hydrated. Some moisturisers have occlusive properties. Things like vaseline are just occlusive ie. No hydrating or emollient properties.

Patch test a bit of the product first to check you have no hideous reactions to it. Wait 24 hrs. Then you can start testing it on your face. 2 weeks is the time I give products to see if they are causing acne but sometimes it can take longer. I didn't experience any problems with this moisturiser but everyone reacts differently.

mintbiscuit · 08/03/2016 12:13

Hey all. Fanserviced b wrote a good post on her blog for aimed at people new to AB and are overwhelmed by choosing products. Thought it might be useful to post the link to the reddit post for anyone reading this who might be in a similar boat.

Think we need to keep in mind that the products are selected from US amazon but fairly good starting point I thought.

GeordieBadger · 08/03/2016 12:43

mint which point of my routine should I introduce the snail gel? I apply makeup every day, so do I wait until the end of the day to use the snail gel? Or does it work as a primer pre-makeup?

mintbiscuit · 08/03/2016 13:15

What does your routine look like?

I use a moisturiser under my sunscreen and make up to seal in my hydration layers.

My AM routine would look something like this: cleanse> actives> toner/lotions> essences/ampoules/serums> moisturiser > sunscreen> bb cream

But everyone is different! If you feel it's too much in your day time routine you can just use in you PM routine. I use a lighter moisturiser for day time and a heavier one plus sleeping pack at night.

Hope I've made sense Smile

mintbiscuit · 08/03/2016 13:17

Oh and my sunscreen acts as my primer. I've never really got the hang of primers Confused

GeordieBadger · 08/03/2016 14:02

Thanks mint I think I'll start by introducing it into my PM routine first. Where do you suggest I apply a patch test? Hand?

So exciting!

By the way, I just tried TonyMoly foam clenser for the first time and it's left my skin literally squeaky clean. Is this a good thing?

lelf79 · 08/03/2016 14:14

ooh i haven't been on for ages!

GeordieBadger i have that snail gel but i didn't find it very moisturising, i much prefer the mizon all in one snail repair cream

mint my dr morita masks are so so, i wouldn't repurchase they smell good, very perfumed but not strong enough to cause headaches, left my skin soft in the morning but all the masks i've tried so far are much of the same, nice on and after but not really any noticeable improvements in anything

I tried the LJH tea tree serum and i dont think that does anything either Sad but i randomly picked up the LJH propolis ampoule and i luuuurve that. Its got a good slip and makes my face feel super hydrated and plump Grin

my biore watery essence sunscreen finally turned up after about 8 weeks but now its here its definitely worth the wait, i've been using it everyday and its great. really good base if i wear makeup and if i dont it keeps me from having shiny patches. I'm already thinking about buying a new one...

Makeup wise i tried the clio kill black waterproof pen liner and i think thats fab too. Doesn't smudge on my oily lids and looks great

mintbiscuit · 08/03/2016 14:37

Geordie I test just behind my ear.

Re the TonyMoly cleanser which one have you got? A lot of their cleansers have a high ph which gives that tight squeaky clean feeling. This can damage the skin's moisture barrier in the long run causing dryness, irritation and acne. Ph of a cleanser should ideally be 5.5 or less, as this is the natural ph of our skin.

There is a great post on AB reddit with a spreadsheet of popular cleansers and their ph. m.reddit.com/r/AsianBeauty/comments/2mjjtv/the_rasianbeauty_cleanser_ph_list_and_ph_faq/

lelf good to see you back! If you are looking for masks that make a difference you should get your hands on the My Scheming mandelic acid ones. Wow! Just wow! The vit c ones are good too.

When you say the mizon aio cream do you mean the stuff in the brown jar?

I like the ljh tea tree essence when I'm having a breakout. Otherwise I don't find it really does much else. Love mixing the ljh propolis ampoule into my creams but the jury is still out on whether it does anything for me. Will find out when I run out!

8 weeks for sunscreen?!! Where did you order from? Mars??Grin

lelf79 · 09/03/2016 14:21

mint the aio is in a brown tube, had a look vs jar and as far as i can tell the only difference is in the packaging so i bought the tube for ease of use cos i'm lazy like that Blush
i ordered the sunscreen from ebay, but to be fair it was over xmas and new year etc... any recommendations on other places to try for my next tube?

i also got the cosrx white power essence as i wanted something to use instead of the missha fte but i dont think it is. it feels more like a serum. which step should i be using this in?

does anybody have any recommendations for a good first essence?

mintbiscuit · 10/03/2016 11:11

I'm on the lookout for a good first essence myself lelf. I do like the Missha TR FTE but wonder if there is something better. I have samples of both the Secret Key one and the Su:m37 secret programming essence to try next.

I know what you mean about the cosrx galactomyces. It's thicker than I expected. I prefer a more watery texture.

Re the biore sunscreen I think I ordered my one via amazon a while back. Maybe around 5 or 6 quid? I think it was cheaper than ebay at the time. Took about a month to arrive though. Japanese shipping is so slow. If I was you I would place an order now! Grin

hollinhurst84 · 10/03/2016 11:30

I'm wanting the LJH tea tree essence. Tried a sample and really liked it

FrownsAndDimples · 10/03/2016 14:00

Going to give that cleanser a go. Thanks cheese

I've bought this and it's great. Husband thinks I look like something out of a Japanese horror movie though!

Popple123 · 14/03/2016 00:34

I can't sleep but did a Toby moly pomegranate mask earlier - love it!!! Any one else a fan?

GeordieBadger · 14/03/2016 10:05

Best sleeping pack ladies? Do tell!

mowglik · 14/03/2016 12:27

Geordie my favourite sleeping pack is holika holika white wine therapy, followed by bioessence sleeping beauty mask, sulwhasoo revitalising mask and lastly (but still good) laneige water sleeping mask. Have a cosrx rice sleeping pack decant to try next (i usually use one sleeping pack over a week)

leif I use the cosrx galactomyces essence as a first step sometimes, but usually after missha FTE which is my favourite. They are essentially the same thing but I feel like the cosrx is more moisturising and serumy, as mint said.

mint how are you getting on with your testing schedule? I still have quite a few things to test but am itching to buy a couple more products Ive had my eye on

frown i want to get that. Does it work well and do you get any additional visible benefits from of your sheet masks using it?
