Stylish really warm boots for winter

BigRedBall · 18/08/2015 20:10

Please help!

I need to buy a pair of warm practical and pretty boots for winter. Something lined like Ugg boots but not typical Uggs; I hate them! Not riding type boots either or those cowboy ones.

I like brown colour and flat heels...not a fan of wedges either. Mid calf length.

Is there a boot that exists like this?
I'm 32 so nothing too frumpy either Grin

Tia!

Another Merrill fan here. Just posted this bargain on another thread but might as go here too! half price Merrell decora chants

KanyesVest · 01/09/2015 18:14

loulou, where did you order from??

louloubelle2 · 01/09/2015 19:06

Shoeaholics www.shoeaholics.com/gershwin-black-leather-36-ugg-australia-shoe.html

Only sizes 3 and 5 left though, although I did see a 6 pop up then disappear while I was browsing, so they may update their stock in real time.

Do these look nice and are merrell shoes renowned for warmth? I really love the decora chants but I think I want something a bit taller now. These look the right length but am worried if they'll be warm enough. Help please!

BigRed, I have those and they are very very warm and comfortable - I love them. They're mid-calf, though - definitely not knee-high. I'm normally a 6.5 and found the 7 a perfect fit.

BigRedBall · 01/09/2015 21:12

Thanks Laquila! I'm ordering them now...free delivery and free returns so if they're not right I can send them back no problem! Very excited!

Ah feck, it must be my size that's the problem so, I ordered a 6.

BigRedBall · 02/09/2015 08:14

Ok, I almost ordered them last night and then checked once more and found out they're not insulated? I have a problem with my toes going cold so would really like insulated toe area too...am I being too picky?

The Ugg Grandle has a sheep fleece lining throughout.

louloubelle2 · 02/09/2015 10:27

Size 6 back in stock in the Ugg Gershwins on Shoeaholic this morning for anyone interested....

louloubelle2 · 02/09/2015 10:29

and for anyone buying from Shoeaholics, don't forget the extra 15% for first orders and 5% Quidco cashback...

BigRedBall · 02/09/2015 11:57

I like the uggs but they're a bit too biker-ish for me. I won't be able to pull them off. Ugh...I might have to go into an actual shop at this rate.

Well the Ugg Gershwins arrived yesterday. I ordered brown in my usual size. They looked good and felt lovely and cosy but unfortunately they are way too big around my calves and look a bit like I'm wearing wellies! So they're going back. Shame as I really liked the style.

louloubelle2 · 04/09/2015 09:08

Dancergirl I pick my Gershwins up from the click and collect place today, I ordered my normal size and the size up. I have very slim calves though (doesn't extend to all my body!) so most boots look like wellies on me, so that doesn't sound promising.

Always a catch to fantastic bargains!

PrimalLass · 04/09/2015 09:18

I must have fat calves Grin

Dancergirl · 04/09/2015 09:19

They were a bargain, mine were about £71 with the postage, but even at that price it's not worth it if they're not right.

Come and let us know how you find them loulou Smile

museumum · 04/09/2015 09:23

I have Merrell Oslo and they've lasted years. I'm in Scotland and they're almost too warm!

louloubelle2 · 04/09/2015 17:19

Dancergirl just like you the top of the Ugg Gershwins (shaft?!) is really wide, even though the foot part of the boot is actually quite a slim narrow fit. They too looked the wellies on me, so back they go. They also didn't really look like leather boots, more like biker style wellies, so not very expensive looking, probably due to the waterproofing, which was fine for the price I paid, but not for their full price. Would be warm as toast though!

I found my usual size a bit snug but would probably be true to size once the fleece settled a bit. The size up definitely too big.

curriegirl · 04/09/2015 18:12

If anyone has ordered size 7 gershwins and plans on returning them please let me know!

Dancergirl · 04/09/2015 19:15

Yes that's true loulou I have very narrow feet and the foot part fitted perfectly, it was just the bagginess around the calves.

However, even though I wasn't actually looking for boots, I have now decided I do need some boots in this style, can anyone recommend any others? Grin

PrimalLass · 04/09/2015 19:34

Am feeling sad about my fat calves now Grin Though, to be fair, I can get the boots on easily over skinnies, which is good.

louloubelle2 · 04/09/2015 20:20

PrimalLass :) I'm sure your legs are perfectly normal and as a result you can benefit from these and other boots looking great. I'm not slim anywhere else and always have this problem with boots. Anyway, it was you who posted the fantastic offer on Shoeaholics (delivery from which was really quick btw) so if you come across any more bargains do share!

louloubelle2 · 04/09/2015 20:22

I've lost track of who is looking for what, and these are by no means a bargain, but Timberland do waterproof biker boots in brown and black for £130 I think. Can't link but on main UK site.

HopefulHamster · 04/09/2015 20:25

The Gershwins aren't too baggy on me either! They have a slight tone of welliness to them but I don't mind that - they're so toasty I will probably wear them when it's very cold or rainy anyway, so they'll be appropriate.

PrimalLass · 04/09/2015 20:36

Well I do have the Ugg Finney's too, and they are lovely Smile

and my calves are fairly normal compared to my fat thighs
