Stylish really warm boots for winter

BigRedBall · 18/08/2015 20:10

Please help!

I need to buy a pair of warm practical and pretty boots for winter. Something lined like Ugg boots but not typical Uggs; I hate them! Not riding type boots either or those cowboy ones.

I like brown colour and flat heels...not a fan of wedges either. Mid calf length.

Is there a boot that exists like this?
I'm 32 so nothing too frumpy either Grin

Tia!

Jessie Mine can be worn folded or up.

Clarks don't have this year's version on their website yet... Will wait and perhaps get a new pair if they appear later on, depending on the available colours!

Shoeaholics has 20% off today.

BoskyCat · 28/08/2015 16:56

I have Merrell Decora Sonata, which are like the chants linked to below, but lace-up. here

They are sooooo warm and comfy, and look good with skinny jeans and with tights/skirts.

TheWatchersCouncil · 28/08/2015 17:08

La Canadienne are brilliant at keeping your feet warm and dry. Not usually available in the UK, but worth googling and keeping your eyes open as we get closer to winter.

Dancergirl · 28/08/2015 18:50

dexter I LOVE those Ugg ones! Now, do I really NEED another pair of boots?

Dancergirl · 28/08/2015 19:09

dexter how high do the Ugg Gershwin boots come up? And are they quite clumpy?

Dancergirl · 28/08/2015 19:17

Also, are they quite wide on the calf? I have very narrow calves so they need to be slim fitting.

PrimalLass · 28/08/2015 20:54

The Ugg Gershwins aren't that clumpy, and IMO quite narrow on the calf. I can wear skinnies under then but they don't look loose over jeans, IYSWIM. If you are a 3, 5 or 6 they are rather cheap today (special offer) - £69 - 20%

I quite like the brown gershwins but maybe black is more practical...?

Also shall I size up? Some of the reviews say they come up small.

Dancergirl · 28/08/2015 23:08

Does he know kaynes or are you just going to sneak them in

Sheezus · 28/08/2015 23:13

Thanks rainbow.

PrimalLass · 28/08/2015 23:17

I would say they are normal sizing rather than Ugg sizing. Mine are a 7 (my usual size in other shoes), and not hugely roomy. My usual sheepskin Uggs would be a 6.

Dancergirl · 28/08/2015 23:22

Hmmm, so black for £69 or brown for £159....?

Laquila · 28/08/2015 23:28

I have the Merrell Captiva in the Buckledown version and they are ludicrously comfy and warm. I wouldn't say they're the epitome of chic, but as practical smarting yet versatile winter boots go I think they're hard to beat.

Half price at Wyndsors World of Shoes, of all places!:

Dancergirl · 28/08/2015 23:47

I've ordered the brown gershwins from M and M direct for £71 Smile

Damn you S&B Angry

KanyesVest · 28/08/2015 23:52

Not yet, Dancer, but I think even the King of Oblivion will spot the two mahoosive boot boxes being wedged through the post box Blush To be fair, he has been encouraging me to buy new shoes lately... I lived for shoes when we first met but 2 children and a banjaxed pelvis have put a halt to my gallop in recent years.

Dancergirl · 29/08/2015 00:01

I try and time my online purchases so they're delivered during the week when Dh is at work Grin

KanyesVest · 29/08/2015 00:06

Me too, but the fecker is malingering sick, so working from home a bit too much these days.

And now I've just looked at the Merrells Laquila suggested. Thank god it's too cold to get out of bed and find my credit card...

HopefulHamster · 29/08/2015 00:28

Gah, just accidentally bought some Ugg Gershwins after reading this thread! They fell into my 20% off shopping basket!

Dancergirl · 29/08/2015 09:18

kaynes you should learn your credit card no off by heart including expiry date and security code. It makes late night online shopping from bed that much easier Grin

KanyesVest · 29/08/2015 09:44

I purposely don't know the security code on my new card, Dancer. Things got very expensive when I was very sleep deprived and up breastfeeding in the middle of the night a couple of years ago Blush

KanyesVest · 01/09/2015 16:27

Noooo! The Gershwins are on stock control from shoesholics Sad they have emailed to say they are trying to find them in a store. Anyone else order and get them from shoeaholics?

louloubelle2 · 01/09/2015 17:28

damn this thread, just bought the black Gershwins, with the extra 15% first order code and free click and collect delivery, they were £58, which made them worth a try. That's cheaper than a pair of pleather boots from New Look!
