Who's on board for a no-spend August?

There's no decent Autumn clothes in the shops yet, I have plenty of make up that needs using up, I bought some lovely shoes in the sales and I'm pretty well stocked up with the essentials. And the last two months have been pretty spendy so I could do with saving a bit this month.

I need new toothbrush heads, cleanser and deodorant and need to get legs waxed next week but then that's it until September. I'm quite looking forward to using up odds and ends and treating myself to some new Autumn make up next month Smile

Anyone else fancy a break from S&B spending?

Spending nothing on S&B but August is such a costly month - DD1 needs a full set of autumn clothes and will also need new shoes, and our new apartment need all kinds of small upgrades, and DD2 needs rainwear. Even the pantry needed major stocking up as we had used up the staples pre-move... Have decided to keep all receipts to tally totals. Scared as it really does add up Confused

I spent some time in a department store where I have overshopped in the past yesterday and spent nothing on myself. Just the dull planned items for DC. Less browsing = less temptations, but somehow this year's sales have been totally uninspiring.

Callycatsy · 07/08/2015 20:09

Excellent! Glad I'm not on my own. My kondoing efforts have really made me focus on what comes in as well as what goes out.

Lottapianos · 07/08/2015 20:43

First week done. Good work everyone!

Toomuchtea, absolutely not or I too have failed!

No spends this month either, other than stuff I've already accounted for.

I've been eyeing up my September spends, but they can wait.

I have visited the shops in my lunch break, but didn't take my purse with me and it worked well.

Lottapianos · 11/08/2015 17:50

I just spent £1.50 on deodorant. That's really not something I want to run out of though, especially with the sticky weather here in London, so it definitely counts as an essential!
Very pleased with my bank balance at the moment, should manage to save a good whack this month

Late to party but I'm partially in. I need my highlights doing and Botox and I'm desperate for a black silk top that will tie a couple of outfits together but other than that...

Blueandwhitelover · 11/08/2015 18:00

I failed today but my excuse was that I went into a local charity shop and saw a brand new with labels Simply be Butterflies top for £3.50 and also a brand new with labels Joe Browns top for £4. Buoyed by my finds I went to the charity shop over the road and found a brand new with labels fleece from our local football team for only £5 which I can keep at school for playground duty.
Bargains don't count do they ? :-)

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 12/08/2015 20:58

I took DD out to buy some holiday clothes and the immortal words "Why don't we go through M&S" fell from my mouth.
They have a sale on (which I usually have a look at but never find anything)

But today.......the jumper I have been stalking reduced by 33%.

A sign , yes?

Not an impulse buy, it was something I have wanted and planned to buy.

Callycatsy · 13/08/2015 10:24

The WOW root cover up is on QVC with no P&P in August. Please may I have it? It will be 3.95 more in September.

FrugalFashionista · 14/08/2015 17:36

I lapsed spectacularly. I travelled to a Scandi fashion capital for work and had a few free hours - three new tops, one dress and one pair of black cigarette length jeans, all -50%. No, I should not buy any new clothes but I have a feeling that these will be my new staples as they are great quality and suitable for daily wear. I've worn the dress constantly!

hoochymama1 · 14/08/2015 17:50

Ooo, can I join? I start a new job soon and after DD's wedding I am strapped for cash. So easy to buy things on line Hmm
Already got lots of clothes...kondoed my wardrobe..makes me feel too like I have been buying too much rubbish. The only thing is, my undercrackers are a bit tatty Blush
But, hey, I'll give it a go.

chanie44 · 14/08/2015 19:27

I failed too.

Although not too badly.

I was eyeing up a skirt, which, although I had the money for, I was going to get it next month. I was browsing the website and saw the skirt had sold out, so I thought I should try instore. Luckily, they had it. I have discounted this as it was a roll over from July.

When I was instore,I picked up a t shirt in the sale for £5, which was the overspend.

Lottapianos · 15/08/2015 08:41

Halfway point people - keep going!

I had a slight slip off the wagon......

But I have an "in my defence" here Wink

Haircut - dry trim , needed done, it was doing my brains in. I do my own colour though.

Leggings (sale) M&S

Swimwear - I'm going on holiday soon so I do need this (also sale)

Lottapianos · 16/08/2015 20:22

OK, I bought a pair of shoes today on eBay. Mitigating factors - they are exactly what I was looking for for an upcoming wedding, and they cost £26 including delivery. Thats less than half the price of other pairs ive been looking at. So I think they were too good to pass up actually!
