Who's on board for a no-spend August?

There's no decent Autumn clothes in the shops yet, I have plenty of make up that needs using up, I bought some lovely shoes in the sales and I'm pretty well stocked up with the essentials. And the last two months have been pretty spendy so I could do with saving a bit this month.

I need new toothbrush heads, cleanser and deodorant and need to get legs waxed next week but then that's it until September. I'm quite looking forward to using up odds and ends and treating myself to some new Autumn make up next month Smile

Anyone else fancy a break from S&B spending?

No spend here either, except that I made my Korean purchase already because I wanted to replace a finished product.

Callycatsy · 02/08/2015 17:40

Day 2 - no spend :)

Lottapianos · 02/08/2015 18:30

Good work so far everyone. Today I bought cleanser, eye make up remover and a nude lippy - all essentials. Honest! I looked at my lipstick collection and identified 5 which will be chucked at end of Summer ( either don't suit me or not good enough quality to hold onto). Have also spotted 5 or 6 wardrobe bits that will be going the same way. So clear out planning has begun! Feels good too

That is THE END now until bank holiday weekend at the earliest.

Thanks frugal for directing me here! After a satisfying low buy July, I'm in for a no buy August. Apart from a hair cut and colour. That is essential!!

ZaraW · 03/08/2015 07:37

I'm in, bought a couple of tops in the Me + Em sale but I really needed them for work. I won't be buying anything else this month.

I'm not doing a no-spend, but will (again) have a v short, clear list in mind and only buy those things, or charity shop bargains.

List =

black leather flats
a red or pink jumper
a grey cardigan or jersey jacket
a full black skirt
a shirt - maybe grey silk, or maybe red tartan, or maybe both!

Day 3 no spend.

No spend day here. I did tempt fate by popping to the high street in my lunch break, but I didn't bring my purse.

I'm in. I need a haircut and I need to get a sales purchase altered at the dry cleaner, but I won't buy anything physical unless I find a great pair of cropped jeans.

Lottapianos · 04/08/2015 08:30

Detective, that sounds like it was too good to pass up :-)

I've just been torturing myself by looking at Nike Airs on the Office sale pages. Have seen a particularly delicious pair of hi tops but I am standing firm. They will go on the 'maybe' list for September Smile

Day 4 no spend :) well, not on me anyway. I bought a hand wash for the cloakroom!

SpecificOcean · 04/08/2015 23:30

I stayed in my £40 budget for July- bought couple of tops for going out.
So will definitely give it another go.
On holiday for one week so that's easy. Also got enough beauty products and make-up to last me months.

Next thing I really need are some new bras.
So I will go for £30-£40.

I'm in - having had an enormous wardrobe clearout which made enough on ebay to pay for a three night break for me and DH.
I need a new mascara before going back to school on the 01st September but that is it!

Callycatsy · 05/08/2015 18:01

Day 5 no spend :)
