Thigh chaffing, what is the solution?

It's hot and humid, I want to wear a pretty floaty dress not german hausfrau shorts or boring boring boring linen draw string trousers this summer.

I have tried antiperspirant, hairspray, lanacane, talcum powder, and some specialist stuff for surfers.

I don't want to wear Spanx but something similar in a lighter less suffocating and strangulating style would be great.

Any ideas

I suffer badly from this and have tried M&S, sloggi and others which are okay but I've just bought some of these www.chaffree.com and they are amazing. Yes a bit pricy but worth every penny to me. So comfortable and don't know I'm wearing them. Not sure dh is quite as impressed with them though ... Grin

gerbiltamer · 14/06/2015 13:23

Thank you all. I also suffer from chafing and have duly ordered the udder cream.

MissDemelzaCarne · 14/06/2015 19:31

DD gets this too and she's a size 10!

I have a pair of little underwear shorts from yours clothing. They are made of smooth fine lacy material. Very light and comfy.
They help with sweating and I'm more covered if my skirt lifts or anything.

Last year I had some of the Evans pants, they were comfy but a bit nylon and unsexy.

Following the suggestion up thread I've just bought a pair of black shorts from H & M. Just tried them on now, and they are quite nice considering how cheap they were! And they're mostly cotton too. (bit of lace round the edge) No idea how they will wash, but I like them.

I got the medium size - am usually a 14-16, but I do like to be comfortable. Hope this helps.

TheOrchardKeeper · 15/06/2015 15:18

H&M are selling cheap-as-chips legging-style shorts that are short enough to not show if a knee length dress were to blow up a bit but long enough to stop serious thigh rubbage Smile. I bought four pairs for £20. Enough to last a sweaty summer!! (Also a size 14).

splodgeness · 16/06/2015 16:49

I have tried everything recommended on here and more! And the two that work for me are Michum roll on for short exposure and for long exposure and walking its Bandelettes - oooh they are a god send. Have two pairs, they work like magic (and no sweaty waist band or looking like something from Victorian days).

Are the H&M ones on the site? I can't see them.

I quite like the idea of the Sloggi longer pants, but being petite, I suspect they will be too long on me (normal 'shaper' pants have to be hoiked up on me so they don't show under dresses).

I think I will try the bandalettes out.

sacbina · 17/06/2015 20:24

Erm, how do the bandelettes work with, shall we say, squishier of thigh?? is it bulgy?

Laura7010 · 17/06/2015 20:46

sacbina They come in different sizes. You measure your thigh and buy the correct size for you.

ErinBlockerBitch · 17/06/2015 20:47

Lanacane is great.

I chafed at size 8, 6' 10" at age 16. (I'm 5').

I had a horrible time on Capri wearing a skirt - bought an Avene product, which I will try to search out - which was pretty good for drying things out in the heat to avoid chafing.

Generally I accept that even when slim (I'm a bit overweight right now) I do not hike or run in shorts because of my shape. This does annoy me because atm I actually look pretty bloody good in short shorts, but they will ride up if I try to do anything remotely athletic!

For light wear, I go heavy on the antiperspirant. Otherwise I think it's probably some kind of shorts underneath. I must admit I go for 3/4 trousers on hols a lot, but I tend towards active / walking / biking holidays so it's a lot more important to be comfortable than a regular beach / bar type break.

MrNedSchneebly · 18/06/2015 00:13

To those who say lose weight... I'm a size eight and I suffer from thigh chaffing. It's a universal problem!

Misssss · 18/06/2015 06:35

I'm fat and I chafe, my sil is tiny and she also gets it. Just how you're built. I think that baby oil on the inside of each thigh works perfectly.

MythicalKings · 18/06/2015 06:43

Thanks for this, I've ordered some cotton shorts. Hadn't thought about that as a solution before. Smile

littlemisssunshine19 · 27/06/2015 19:29

Have you tried Bandelettes? They are like the tops of lace stockings without the stocking! I got a pair last year after seeing them on here somewhere and the are great, you don't get too hot.
