The Met Ball - an exhibition of ugly dresses

Scrolling through the hundreds of picture on the DM website I was desperately trying to find a non fug dress. I know the Met Ball isn't about restraint but does it need to be so tacky?

I don't mean to sound like Mother Immaculata but for the love of God ladies, do you need to show so much flesh? It's the kind of thing I'd expect from Geri Halliwell circa 2001.

These were hideous. No one could make these dresses look good.

However, Rhianna appeared to go the other way with so much canary yellow fabric it took 3 people to help her up the stairs. Not a good look either.

I quite liked Alexa Chung's, she should wear colour more often. And I like Carey Mulligan's too.

What was Kerry Washington thinking? She looks like she was dressed by a five year old girl going through a major pink phase.

I saw a pic of Cher and she actually wasn't wearing a see through dress, but looked really good.

That pink dress is a monstrosity!!

Cher's dress is good choice dexter. I remember she used to wear some eye-poppingly bad dresses to the Oscars in the 80's.

Beyonce, J-Lo and Kim K look absolutely bloody ridiculous. I can't stop cringing at Beyonce's ludicrous poses.

SJP looks kinda insane but she at least gets points for not wearing a bedazzled body stocking.

It feels like we've seen Beyoncé's dress before. Ooh, my autocorrect put an accent on that for me. Has JLo worn similar? And I love the difference between the bey-released pics (thigh gap!) and the Norma ones (amazing figure but slightly more normal)

I didn't really get much Chinese influence from anyone apart from Rihanna, Solange and SJP. All of whom I thought looked great, if a bit bonkers.

Beyonce looks hideous in every way it is possible to be hideous. She can look like a goddess but here she just looks like a cross between Donatella Versace and Barbie. And her blond hair is unspeakable.

I loved Beyonce's dress. Shes got IT and showed IT .

Rihanna's dress was really theatrical but I swayed towards liking it.

Loved the tailoring on the Beibers jacket also.

Beyonce could have gotten much the same look by showing up naked with smarties glued to her body.

at these kind of events it appears riri(not this time) beyonce,the kardashians,lady gaga ,nicki minaj just turn up in the most ridiculous dress to out tart each other, like competing? i dont believe for a minute all the 'nearly nekkid' dresses are pure coincidence! ....however jlo looks incredible for a woman of her age!

as much as i hate this word, they all (the nearly nekkid dresses) just look so sigh slaggy dont they? not an ounce of class, its funny kim k posted an image of cher circa 1974 and apparently used her as inspiration,cher looks much better though, its like these incredibly powerful ,successful women spend as much time as possible out tarting each other ,ducks and hides
