Thanks Twitch. Just checked my toner (dug out from a Christmas or two ago) and it's a 'rehydrating toner' from Neal's Yard, with glycerin and aloe vera, hooray! So I will find a spritzer bottle for it.

LatinForTelly · 01/05/2015 16:20

Ooh cross post Lex, the NY one! Rehydrating Rose toner. It has rose oil and the ingredients I mention above ^^. Smells gorge even though mine is out of date.

CindyEcstacy · 01/05/2015 16:24

U2 - I bought that one in TK Maxx. I've been using it during the day and it feels really nice

Twitchcoco · 01/05/2015 16:24

Yippee! Roses all around Flowers

LexLoofah · 01/05/2015 16:32

latin yay thanks

Itsalldramarama · 01/05/2015 17:13

U2 .. I have the balance one ... And the eyeccream .. And the wrinkle freeze ... And the filler !! Nice products :) some bargains in B&M ! The loreal serum is cheaper than boots in there too :)

mowglik · 01/05/2015 17:22

U2 I use that serum as my nighttime serum it's nice and watery and spreads nicely. Skin has been looking nice since I started using it but also been using loads of other new bits so not sure how well it's worked.. I ordered another though as it's not sticky and nice to use under moisturiser

bigbuttons · 01/05/2015 17:35

You can also buy a very cheap, but effective glycerine and rosewater mix in bootsSmile

Hi all, lurker de lurking, followed the last thread with great interest. I'm 45 went through menopause a year ago and started on HRT in Jan. have noticed my skin is dryer and lacks elasticity but the HRT seems to have improved this a bit.

Current routine
AM - splash of water (or Aldi moisturising face wash if I've been to the gym - about to run out so I need to replace)
Moisturise with either Nuxe Creme Prodigieuse or Skin SPF30 or Heliocare 50 depending on the time of year.
PM Double HCC with Superdrug Naturally Radiant or Liz Earle depending on my mood.
Moisturise with Oil (apricot and peach oil)

New routine
AM - cleanser (yet to buy) but probably an LRP or Miceller water (sic)
Acid tone - nip and fab pad in the post
Moisturise - will use the Nuxe Gil it runs out then move to sunscreen due to time of year.

PM - double HCC as above
Acid tone - started wig Clearasil pads on Wednesday (love them)
Serum - bought REN firming and smoothing serum but introducing it next week to give skin time to cope)

Did a Bravura 50% glycolic last Sunday and skin looks great. Bought it ages ago and used it a bit last year but decided to go back to it. Will do it every other week and try and source a 50% one online as it's about to run out. Will alternate this with a Retin A 0.025 to start but as I don't react to the 50% glycolic I may be ok with 0.5%?

Any recommendations for a night moisturiser for after the serum? Or a recommendation for a day serum or is the REN ok to use twice a day?
Anything else I need?

ilovetosleep · 01/05/2015 20:03

I was really tempted by a REN serum today, keep young and beautiful, has anyone tried this? I've always quite like REN but then again I've not really tried much else. Paula seems really scathing of all things REN and I'm wondering if there's anything in that?

almondcakes · 01/05/2015 20:04

Secrets out, how many minutes are you leaving the glycolic acid on for, and did you start on the 30% or just go straight on to the 50?

Itsalldramarama · 01/05/2015 20:09

Oh my ! Was thinking of putting some photos on .. I took one of my hideous cleft between my eyes a week ago and just taken anther one after a week of TLC and I'm sure it looks a bit better but not sure MN is ready for my close ups it's all their unforgiven glory !!!! ( just opened a bottle of wine so maybe later .... ;)

Itsalldramarama · 01/05/2015 21:35

Before and after !! Or is it wish full thinking :0

Blimey Dramarama you can really see how your (faint) 11s have vanished Shock

I keep studying mine I wish I'd taken a pic!

When the film came out I got the right hump because three separate people said she reminded them of me Angry I thought they meant bloody Cameron Diaz until I watched it.

CoconutAmericano · 01/05/2015 22:08

Wow big big difference dramarama whatever it is (or combo of things) you're doing is working Shock.

CoconutAmericano · 01/05/2015 22:09

Even the horizontal lines have faded!

Itsalldramarama · 01/05/2015 22:20

Thanks :) really pleased so far !! Think it's the nip and fab pads that's are doing the magic !

Secretsout · 01/05/2015 22:26

almond. I started on 30% and found it quite tingly but decided to take the jump to 50% just to see. I thin the instructions say a minute or two? I leave it on for about 10-15 then neutralise it with bicarbonate. I'm pink straight after and my skin is quite dry and rough looking for a couple of days after but then on day 3 it's bloody lovely

ilove that's the REN serum I bought, loved the sample in the shop but not starting the real one just yet as I'm introducing a product each week

midnightmoomoo · 01/05/2015 22:41

Another lurker popping in here.....40, with sensitive, combination skin prone to those awful monthly lump-on-the-chin spots. I've been reading CH for a while but with an unemployed DH haven't been able to justify the expense of a full CH routine. However, now he's back in work I've allowed myself a bit of a spend....but not a massive one as I have to clear a load of debt first!

Can't use Cetaphil, my skin doesn't like it at all. I always have Avene extremely gentle cleanser and skin recovery cream in as from time to time my skin has a complete wobbly and this is all it will tolerate.

Was very excited to find the fruit clearasil pads in the 99p shop today! Plus I bought In Style for the Clinique serum. Baa.......

New routine....
AM
Cleanse with Liz Earle C&P
Acid tone with Clinique Mild Lotion
Spritz with Liz Earle Instant Boost Tonic
Serum is Boots Perfect & Protect (bought with £5 off voucher today)
Moisturise with either Simple day cream with SPF30 or Liz Earle Skin Repair Light

PM
Double Cleanse with LE C & P
Acid tone with clearasil pads (tried tonight, didn't sting!)
Spritz with LE tonic
Serum as above
Moisturiser is LE Skin Repair light

Eye creams are Liz Earle Daily Eye Repair and Clinique All About Eyes Roll on. Treatment is twice weekly mask - Superdrug Clearly Youthful glycolic peel off mask (has salicylic, glycolic and lactic acid in it) at this point I have no intention of using anything stronger than listed, my skin is really sensitive and reactive so I'm not prepared to risk burning/peeling!

Can I say a massive thank you to the posters on the old thread who recommended castor oil for eyelashes and Carmex lip blam? Flowers

FWIW I have been using a flannel with hot water cleanse since about 1988, ever since I read in my mum's Best magazine that Barbara Daly recommended it! If only I could stick to a diet as long.....

Sorry for the long post!

VeryStressedMum · 01/05/2015 23:31

I used the Paula's Choice 1% retinol two days ago and my face is stinging like mad and I've got dry red patches on my face, I used the 0.025 retin a last week but no reaction so I used the PC as I thought I wouldn't use the retin a too much at first...something is happening at least! I'll have to wait until my face has totally calmed down before using the retin again.

I bought the superfacialist (Una Brennan) vitamin c serum today (I must have spent hundreds since I discovered Caroline Hirons and these threads), has anyone got this? Looking for some reviews.

I also bought LRP anthelios, which was 25% off in boots, as I want living the sunsense daily face It was quite greasy and very shiny. Hopefully anthelios is better.

Just need to get the clinique moisture surge spray and I think I'm done buying anything else for at least a week Smile

Fabulassie · 02/05/2015 06:10

I've been using .5% Retin A for a few weeks and my skin has gotten used to it. Then I used the Nip&Fab pads and I think it was a bit much. I'm going to give my face a day of nothing but Nivea and let it recover a bit.

Skin still smooth, plump and fresh feeling, so upped the Nip+Fab pads to once every evening. Still confused by serums etc and want to keep my routine simple, so just put on a Mizon Good Night Sleeping Mask afterwards. My skin seems to love that too. Super hydrating and feels lovely. I noticed yesterday that my skin was really glowy, and BB creams further increase the glow. I only rinse with water in the morning: I suspect that the morning routine is too much.

FrugalFashionista · 02/05/2015 08:29

Gerti I use foaming stuff as body washes and wipes for removing sunscreen from my neck and body.
