I think I should have shares in Cerave moisturiser, it's so lovely and not bank breaking otherwise anything Avene or LRP will be nice.

Norfolkandchance1234 · 10/05/2015 12:38

A question about toners pretty please.

Which toners are you using when not acid toning.

I have bombarded my face with acid toners this weekend am and pm and need to give my skin a rest next week. Shall I go with simple rose water and glycerin or can you recommend anything else for combination skin with a slight touch of rosacea.

And is mineral oil in moisturiser really so bad?

Kundry · 10/05/2015 12:45

I only acid tone as not convinced a normal toner does much - isn't it just putting water on your face Confused. If I want to hydrate, I'd use a hydrating serum.

If you have rosacea you should only be using salicylic acid, you skin won't like any others.

Finally I don't think mineral oil is so bad. But I don't use any oil anyway as Sam Bunting says not to if you have acne prone skin. I don't understand how mineral oil is so bad for skin, oil is OK for acne prone skin when shea butter, coconut oil etc are all proven to trigger acne but never get as bad a rap as mineral oil. My suspicion is that it's part of the 'natural is best' narrative - that isn't for me, I'd like evidence-based chemicals please Grin

Norfolkandchance1234 · 10/05/2015 13:37

kundry thank you so much. I was hoping you'd be around to answer. I have been using the clearasil pads this weekend once at am and again at pm so that's good and the CH routine.

My rosacea flared up I think after years because of my slovenly use the last few months of make up wipes, therefore face never clean, urgh, SPF moisturisers and makeup. Never again.

lbnblbnb · 10/05/2015 14:08

I have gone through my bathroom cupboard and dresser and found lots of products that I had already that I can use. I have been trying things for years, not really understanding what I was doing and not keeping a routine going.

mowglik · 10/05/2015 14:47

I did a double face mask yesterday - Clinique turnaround 15 min mask followed by an elemis moisturising mask and was wondering about using it on the lips and eye area. Anyone do this or do you use eye and lip specific masks?

My lips are always a state and could do with some attention I think!

MerryKat · 10/05/2015 14:52

Kundry can I ask what serum you use please and where I should fit a serum into my routine!I too have acne prone skin-have changed to cetaphil cleanser and moisturiser over past couple of weeks. Retin a 0.025 three times a week-ok so far and acid toner daily after cleansing!
I'm still spotty but it's been much worse!Shock

babyiwantabump · 10/05/2015 15:18

OH has just been to the body shop and picked up the bouncy sleep mask and the matching serum ( I had a voucher for £10 off) sooo excited to use these! This is becoming a bit of an obsession! My Korean gold collagen eye masks turned up today aswell! Looking forward to trying them out too

Kundry · 10/05/2015 15:21

My current routine is:

AM:

LRP Physiological Cleansing Gel - really like this, prob more than the Cetaphil if only because I can see when it's running out

Clinique Mild Exfoliating Lotion - OK, but not really strong enough. I was used to the 2% BHA from Paula's Choice and I'll probably go back to one of her products but am going to play around with some pads and other things first

SR Skincare Haloxyl eye serum - only had a couple of days, seriously think it is doing something to my dark circles but hate the formulation. Will use it up and find something else with Haloxyl in

Hylamide - love it

Avon Anew e-Defence SPF - love the product, bottle is beyond crap. Sadly won't repurchase.

PM:

LRP Physiological Cleansing Gel
Clinique Mild Exfoliating Lotion
SR Skincare Haloxyl
Hylamide

Wait 30 min - 0.25% Retin A, now up to using this most days. Once I'm using every day I'm planning to add BigButtons Vit C serum

Cerave pm moisturising lotion - love it, no intention of trying any other moisturiser ever Grin

Once a week in the evening:

SK Skincare 20% Salicylic/Mandelic peel. Miss out Clinique and Retin-A that evening.

Kundry · 10/05/2015 15:25

Have a pared down version ready for going on holiday next week of:

Avene Micellar Water - free sample from their website, thank-you Avene
Clearasil pads
Use up crappy Hydraluron (don't trust Ryanair with the Hylamide dropper bottle)
SPF

Stronger is def the Paula's Choice! CH now says that Pixi Glow is one of the weaker acid toners she recommends. Another stronger option might be the Bravura London Calendula one - it's on my list to try.

CindyEcstacy · 10/05/2015 16:51

lap - I'm using the Stridex 2% salicylic pads and they seem quite 'pokey' Grin

I was previously using the nip and fab glycolic pads but I found they left my face sticky which made other product application tricky

bigbuttons · 10/05/2015 17:31

kundry never heard of haloxyl. It helps dark circles? I am desperate to reduce mine! Off to google!

Haven't yet got on with LRP moisturiser, but will try a different one, I have the Spf one and it stings my eyes plus sits like a greasy slick on my face.

What's the Physiological Cleansing Gel like? Is like the Ole Henricksen gel, that turns to oil on the skin? Or is it a wash off gel? I LOVE the OH one.

EnormousDormouse · 10/05/2015 17:42

I think I may be a Cautionary Tale...
Every now and again, pretty randomly, my eyes get really irritated and they swell up with fluid around the eye socket. It is a most attractive look - like a newly hatched baby chick; or perhaps more accurately, someone who has been kicked in the head by a horse, twice, accurately.

But all has been well while I have been slowly and carefully introducing some of the products on this thread, and all have been tolerated well. Until last night - I felt my eyelids were a little red and dry so after the routine I decided to smear LRP Cicaplast over them - for some lovely soothing and healing LRP loveliness.
Burning. Rinsed it off straight away. Woke up this morning unable to open one eye completely and the other one about a third.

Sooo....tomorrow, if you see someone at work with dark glasses on, it is not due to a hangover, OK!

Kundry · 10/05/2015 17:50

Doesn't turn to oil, just washes off. It's kind of unexciting but just does the job.

Think I heard of Haloxyl in one of Lisa Eldridge's videos:

But you still put it on dry skin, Kundry?

Kundry · 10/05/2015 18:37

The instructions say so but I splash my face with water first

bigbuttons · 10/05/2015 18:42

enormous poor you! Hope the swelling goes down soonFlowers

kundry I have ordered some haloxyl eye serum from the ever reliable SR SKINCARE. I am going to try and help by drinking less wine, drinking more water and going to bed earlier!

Kundry · 10/05/2015 18:48

I don't really like the texture of their serums - didn't like the Vit C for the same reason - but they are bargainaceous and definitely the real deal ingredients wise.

Oh no enormous just seen your post Flowers

VeryStressedMum · 10/05/2015 19:10

Kundy are you acid toning and using serum when using the retin a? I know retinols are ok to do this but thought retin a you shouldn't? I'm hoping to acid tone at the same time as retin a, but does the serum go on before or after?
