Cathy maybe if you put the cream too near your eyes it can seep up? What strength are you using?
I've been putting the retin near my eyes as that's where my fine lines are but so far it's been ok.

EuphemiaCoxton · 05/05/2015 08:55

I'll add a picture. I tried pixi glow again for the second time and.... gave myself what looks like a chemical burn!
It feels very hot and there are little 'cracks' that look as though my skin split. It's much better than yesterday.
Is it possible to be allergic to glycolic acid? I used the caudalie face mask one with no problems though.

Ouch that looks sore :( hope it gets better soon , how much stronger is the pixi glow than nip and fab pads ? Been using them an and pm with really good results and no irritation

ilovetosleep · 05/05/2015 09:42

So my face is happier after a few days peace. I'm raring to crack on with my new hoard but going through all my purchases I realised I have gone a bit acid mad. I have 4 (yikes) acid products and I don't know how to rotate them to maximise effect but not terrify my face again!
So I have REN clarimatte (Lactic acid - I know CH says its rubbish but I have it now, and my skin is proving to be pretty sensitive so it shouldn't hurt, right?), Nip&Fab Glycolic pads, Nip&Fab Dragons blood/salicylic pads, and REN AHA treatment. Obv i can't use them all in one day! Is it ok to rotate or does that affect their efficiency? I thought maybe clarimatte in the morning then alternate the nip and fab in the evening? And save the AHA concentrate for when my skin has got much more used to acids and then use every fortnight or something?

I can't believe I am so obsessed with my skin. I have never even given it a second thought! I think I was deluded by having so many people tell me I have great skin throughout my twenties/early thirties and all of a sudden I have aged loads and I didn't even notice til I found these threads. Having skim read the first thread again, I realised this is mostly due to massive weight loss after DS2, he was born a year ago and within 5 months I was the lightest I have been since a teenager, I had no idea this would age my face so much. I also think I'm relly dehydrated which emphasises the crepy lines around my nose. So What I really need now is plumping power. I need moisuture filled plumpness. Am I right in thinking I need hyuralonic for this? I was hoping to buy hylamide, is that what I need?

Thanks so much for all the tips here, its amazing!

Itsalldramarama · 05/05/2015 09:47

I'm also obsessed with my skin and frown lines ! Wish I'd taken more care in my 30s and early 40s . So just over a week of skin overhaul I think I'm getting a result ? Photo befor and after just over a week.. What do you think ? Or a I deluded ;)

Pixi glow isn't more than 10%. There's something in it that really doesn't like my face!
The burts bees toner I'm fine with

Itsalldramarama · 05/05/2015 09:48

Last one is before !! First 2 are today !

Itsalldramarama · 05/05/2015 09:50

Sorry the middle one is mid way , the first one is today! Need more coffee :)

Itsalldramarama · 05/05/2015 09:54

What % are the nip and fab pads ? Thinking could try something a bit stronger!

ilovetosleep · 05/05/2015 10:01

Just looked on their website and it says 2.8% glycolic. The Salicylic ones don't give a % and actually it looks like they're not the best for an acid fix as the salicylic is quite low down the list of ingredients...

plumstone · 05/05/2015 10:01

The Japanese thing started with Geisha's as even though they spent all day covered in thick white gunk they still had beautiful skin and it lead to people asking how they did it,

PM

  1. Take off Make Up / first clense
  2. Wask face thoroughly massaging in to really clean face/ second cleanse
  3. Sofeting Lotion ( i took to mean traditional toner) /acid
  4. Sheet Mask - have totally adopted this step / spritz tone
  5. Serum - I massage in bloop from above step / serum
  6. Eye cream / eye cream
  7. Night Cream / sleep mask

I have put a / and then noted what I do so still 7 steps but slightly more Western

When I first heard it I was in shock - and forgot to ask what the AM routine was, however there is a Japanese skin person - famous in Japan who advocated that however long it takes you to put your makeup on it should take the same amount of time to take it off. I like this concept, and ever since I have started this about 8 weeks now skin is looking good!!! Google Japanese Skin Care - its a minefield

TheVeryThing · 05/05/2015 10:04

Just catching up on the new thread, wow, so many posts already.
I have had to scale back on everything has my skin was quite irritated over the weekend. Whoever said that less is more with rosacea was right.
kewtogetin I braved horrendous rain on Saturday to look for that skinicians serum in TK Maxx but no luck. I did buy the LRP serum instead, and have been using that, along with the avene cleanser and my usual aldi moisturiser.
I think I'll wait a while before trying acid toning again, but I've been using the aldi serum on my neck and decolletage, and rosehip oil on my legs so not completely wasted.
Still enjoying reading this thread and hoping to try some of the other treatments once my skin calms down.

Euphemia that looks v sore! Was it you who had the reaction to Pixiglow in the other thread or someone else? Looking at the ingredients PixiGlow is a big mixture of things so it could well be any one of them causing the irritation, not just the acid - which would explain why you are fine with the other acid product.

Have you got something like LRP Cicaplast to put on it? I'd just do that until it's back to normal.

The skin on my face feels itchy and agitated! I haven't done any retin for three days now so it can't be that. Must be too many acids. However it LOOKS wonderful, just feels like pants, I want to scratch it off.
The Nl lines looked very red for a couple of days, so they sort of seemed more pronounced which wasn't a good look. However, now the redness has gone the NL lines are waayyy shorter and much more shallow!

I have also being doing to my hands what i'm doing to my face. They are looking great, however, they are now a completely different colour to my forearms, so look rather odd to me anyway; so I have been extending the routine over past my wrists. So now there is a marked difference in the texture and look of my arms where have been doing all the business. A bit like a foundation line strip!!!
Where will it stop?!!!

I think my retin a order from Geoff's pharmacy has disappeared in cyber space !! No emails and no funds taken from my bank !!! Any other links for similar price or should I just try a strong retinol ? ( got oz naturals retinol sat in amozon basket ) getting good results without it but feel I need to up routine a bit !
Big buttons you will just have do all of your arms ;)

MrsGuyGarvey · 05/05/2015 14:18

Itsalldrama wow there's definitely a difference, You must be chuffed.

Itsalldramarama · 05/05/2015 14:20

Thanks Mrs Guy :) wish I'd started looking after my skin earlier ! But then we don't think about getting haggard when still looking decent ;)

ilovetosleep · 05/05/2015 14:21

There are loads of new bargains on TKMaxx website if anyones interested!

Itsalldramarama · 05/05/2015 14:22

Trying to get my Daughter interested as she has really bad spots but can't get through that sleeping in a full face of Mac foundation isn't helping !!

ilovetosleep · 05/05/2015 14:32

Does anyone use Balance Me products? Because I can get them in waitrose and DH will never know a thing and won't spot any more extravagent boots purchases! I am looking for a moisture spray and like the look of this

MrsGuyGarvey · 05/05/2015 14:38

Ooooooh (runs in excitedly). Have you seen what Dame Hirons has posted today?! Go have a look, I'm mega excited.

babyiwantabump · 05/05/2015 14:39

Ooh ooh ooh I was just coming to post about the same thing Mrs

Twitchcoco · 05/05/2015 14:42

I was just coming in to say the same. I've signed up! To go on the waiting list is neither a guarantee or a commitment which is good.

That Balance Me mist looks gorgeous. Really expensive though! My Caudalie was half that price for more than 3x.

Someone here wanted a rose one so hopefully it will suit. Ingredients look good.
