I would have the dye chopped out but I want to grow outa a pixie cut so I am sticking with the eeny weeny bit of length and letting my cobwebs come through.

I swoon at women who rock grey hair and I can't wait fir more tocome through

Lovely grey??! Wish I could adopt that mindset but I'm more "Bloody shitting hell!!! The grey is coming through and I only dyed it last week Angry."

RiaOverTheRainbow · 27/04/2015 21:13

I've got a thin grey/white bit, I'm hoping it'll turn into a proper mallen streak :)

ChopOrNot · 27/04/2015 21:29

I have done this. 2 months ago got the chop - to a short pixie. Now only got the ends of dye left. By late summer I shall be dye free and growing out the pixie.

I feel utterly liberated.

That's a fabulous colour, ChoporNot!

Sadly, with my Mediterranean colouring, grey will never be an option for me, but it utterly suits your Nordic look and good cheekbones.

BunnyLebowski · 27/04/2015 21:43

Do it!

I'm 18 months post shaving my head and embracing my silver fox status. Wanna see a pic?

ChopOrNot · 27/04/2015 21:46

Yes please Bunny!

TelephoneIgnoringMachine · 27/04/2015 21:53

I'm trying to learn to love my (grey) silver hairs. I can't really home dye it as it's got too wide a variety of natural highlights, salon dye would cost a fortune. So I'm not. It's nice to see other women who are embracing the silver, very inspiring!

BunnyLebowski · 27/04/2015 21:58

Here ya go.

I like to think I rock it Grin

I'm onto my 2nd full head of grey (although I prefer to say silver!)

Luckily my hair grows really quickly.

I first embraced my silver around 6 years ago, then changed my mind and dyed it bright blue, but back to silver again. And I love it. But remember to use some purple shampoo or conditioner.

Wow, you both look amazing. I am still far more salt and pepper - though I have the lovely white "halo" showing through at the front which I am loving.

I am embracing lots of grey and silver clothes and really emphasising it. Loving it!

Itsalldramarama · 28/04/2015 09:20

Wow bunny ! Definately rocking that look !! Looks amazing !!! ( always had a strange fetish to shave my head and se how it grows back ........ ) chocolateyy your silver curls are gorgeous :) mines curly but think I would just have a white stripe through the middle !! One of these I might just embrace the grey ... My mum is pure silver white and long swept up in a chignon and looks fab at 76 !! Hope I go the same way !!

possumbird · 28/04/2015 09:22

I'm a Silver Fox and i love it!

hattymattie · 28/04/2015 09:43

I would be happy to do this if my hair went a nice white but I just look like a drab old lady.

Bunny and Chop, different approaches but you both look fab.

Bunny - how do you get that straight line with your eyeline? I can't even manage that, never mind the grey look.

pnutter · 28/04/2015 09:49

You all look amazing. I now want a crop and no dye !!

Marmaladybird · 28/04/2015 10:16

Mine is probably 50% silver but I dye it brown. Sometimes I get to 1" roots and then lose my nerve. I'm 38 but it's been on the turn since I was early teens. Everyone tells me I should keep dying it and I'm a ditherer. I have fine hair and I'm worried about a pink scalp showing through and making me look like I'm waiting for a telegram from the queen. Lovely photos - you all look amazing and I'm feeling inspired.

ChopOrNot · 28/04/2015 10:20

Marmalade fine hair is actually better in some ways with grey - the grey is slightly "coarser" which for me (a fellow fine-haired person) that slightly coarser texture if not a problem - just brings it to a normal weight iyswim.

wasabipeanut · 28/04/2015 10:25

Wow you all look awesome. I wish I had the courage to go grey with style. Marmalady - like you mines been going since I was around 17 or 18 and I've been dying it at 6 weekly intervals ever since. Costs a fucking fortune, takes up my time and I worry about chemicals.

I'm completely grey across the crown and temples and pretty salt and pepper elsewhere I think. Tbh I don't really know - I could be 100 % grey by now. On one hand I worry it will age me on the other I resent the upkeep and think "fuck it, so what if I do look my age?"

There was an article in The Times this weekend about it. Rocking grey is a lot easier if you work in fashion or media I think.

SewingAndCakes · 28/04/2015 10:28

I'd love to just go grey. Had grey hairs appearing since I was 16 and I've always dyed it but looking at the photos I'm wondering whether I should go for a short cut. I'd look like a man though Sad

OOAOML · 28/04/2015 10:55

I'm cultivating a streak and am noticing a lot more scattered silver highlights.

Dellla · 28/04/2015 10:59

Wow. Those of you who've put up photos, you look great, and have a strong look.

I think I lack that strength of individuality (in my look, not in myself iykwim) and i fear I would just look like a bedraggled frump. I have a few greys and I'm getting highlights in a lighter shade to make the greys slightly less obvious but I'm not hiding them really. Just going lighter.

Dellla · 28/04/2015 11:01

wasabipeanut, I think if you have a great cut that most old people would consider too young for them, then it will be ok. I know maybe going grey would make me up my game in other ways. nicer earrings, reapplying the bit of lipstick more often. scent from heaven, or at least channel......

Dellla · 28/04/2015 11:03

I think this is lovely. My hair is long and caramel at the moment but I think when I go grey I will have this cut.

songbird · 28/04/2015 11:08

marmalade I'm 38 too and am maybe not quite 50% grey. For the past several months I've been dying it with a semi-permanent dye, so sort of gradually growing out the grey - it's probably about 4" long now (hair dark brown, curly, sitting on shoulders). It's better for me as I used to dye it with permanent dye and the grey roots were coming through far too quickly. With semi-permanent it starts to fade after about 20 washes and as it's gradual it generally just always looks better than it used to with permanent dye (which, no matter which one I tried never took well on my grey).

It's worth a try if, like me, you want to rock the grey in your 40s Grin

songbird · 28/04/2015 11:10

Della I think I lack that strength of individuality (in my look, not in myself iykwim) and i fear I would just look like a bedraggled frump.

That's exactly how I feel. I just don't have a striking look (can't really do 'fashion' either). I am considering getting it chopped - that'll force me to 'have a look'!

Lj8893 · 28/04/2015 11:17

I'm the app and just had to go over to the mobile site to check your photos out!! You all look amazing!
I'm only 27, and have only found one grey hair so far (on my 27th birthday!!!) but I am determined to go silver gracefully when the time comes! You all rock it!
